  1. Not sure this would work: "ACPI_1043400\Acpi\WIN2000\ATK2000.INF,0" or cause (your) problem.
  2. You installed a fraction of XP and you needed more. Basically, you have two options. -repair bit by bit and come here every day for a month with statements like "I've fixed it, but now...". Possibly getting to an "acceptable" OS that will need reinstall later anyway. -begin from scratch removing only what you are sure you will never need.
  3. Run any decent hardware detection program (HWinfo32 or SIV) from the existing OS (if applicable) to see that. Most are portable and run from a PE as well. Your last thread was urgent as well.
  4. Was "wd" the only hint ?
  5. Huh... not the total. 1PC sold is still 1 licence sold, how do you go bankrupt from that ?

    Cannot find AUTOCHK

Can you report exactly what's written on the physical media ?
  7. Most probably. Have you searched for your misspelled name there yet? Also, if you said where exactly that name appears, you'd get more precise help.
  8. Read the answers again. Either it's dead or it's been removed. If you still want to repair, In both cases, you'll have to open the HDD cover anyway.
  9. You can't delete anything if Bios sees nothing. So either he (or she) physically removed the drive or the drive is dead. Ask for info from that person. When "fixing" a problem, always ask for the original problem. In other words, you need to reinstall because ... ?
  10. Exactly the same as when you use the original disk you used for the process, except the modifications you specifically brought to it in nLite. I'm not sure about what info you ask for.

    Cannot find AUTOCHK

"works on each but all have failed" I searched for "autochk". Your problem is probably with unattended (well, as it's the only thing you do anyway...) See here for same problem.
  12. give minimum info on how you do that.

    Windows XP SP3

in which case you don't have to activate, so he's still correct. But one should not use volume licensing at home anyway. OEM preactivated versions are more on topic.
  14. Can't do that in Outlook Web Access. You can't even save a mail, not even in txt/rtf. The only solution is to save attachements on your USB key (or other) and delete the mails if applicable. You can point them to addons like "Entreprise Vault" that compact attachement to an external storage server but it's costly, not easy to implement and has side effects.
  15. "Nothing seems to be working" is quite a poor problem description. Please be more descriptive. Is that "AutoActivate" line entered manually ? If yes, what is it supposed to do ? Don't add updates for components that are not included (IE8)

    Bluetooth not working

Is this in a professional environement ? You don't say -what you started with -what tool you used to "make an XP (sp3) CD for laptop" -if Device Manager reports any unknown device/ missing driver.
  17. You can't. Only english version can be changed to other language via a multi user interface pack.
  18. Nowhere in BartPE do I see any reference to ElTorito (and as Jaclaz explained, it doesn't apply anyway). If you really created a cd last year, you might remember that you did not use any ElTorito settings anywhere, so the answer is "none is enough". Once the ISO is created (if you use own burning software), just burn the ISO, not put the iso file on a cd, but burn "the iso image" to a cd. The iso IS a bootable CD ('s image) and that CD does not need any modification (like "making it" bootable by adding anything). If still unsure, tell us what burning software you are using and someone will tell you what menu to use.
  19. Unless you're planning to get infected within one or two days, then "maybe" be able to repair from within, I don't see the point in integrating that in any Windows installation... ? An update is equivalent to the whole download (one .exe file).
  20. PEBuilder takes less than 10minutes to run and make iso on my old Sempron... B) 2) you don't burn a bootable cd, you burn "IMAGE".
  21. Depending on how the recovery process from that particular disc works you might not be able to do that. I'm not familiar with Sony so I'm not sure, but you need a disc that behaves like a standards Microsoft Windows XP installation disc. If your disc is made to copy an image of a preinstalled XP on your HDD, then its a no go. Can you list the files and folders on the root of the disc ? Can you find an i386 folder anywhere on the disc ? +See this (I searched for "Sony").
  22. Have you checked if any Bios update is available ?
  23. No, I was talking about the MAIN cable that brings power to "the outlet on the left or right side of the room". It is possible that that cable is placed in a way that it creates interferences with the magnetic fields of your screen. Maybe you can't see that cable but it has to be somewhere.
  24. Well, if the power cable (main arrival) passes just next to the screen, it's still likely to be. Because in the 1st case the stronger power goes through that cable, in the 2nd case it does not. Solution is to pull the CRT away from the wall.
