  1. WOW... what a forum ! Or he could have been waiting for august 1981 and IBM to invent the PC at first. Then wait for the portable. This guy obviously also was first to get one:
  2. hum... I must have had sh!t in my eyes yesterday. You are quite clear, I was kind of ashamed when I re-read the title of the thread today Still, unfortunately, the Windows XP/2000 MUI is sold only through Volume Licensing programs. No free download.
  3. You can't. MUI is an addon on the ENGLISH version ONLY. You have a Portugese version of the OS to start with. http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/referen...unattended.mspx
  4. VGA drivers ???? or user name ?
  5. Do you start with a standard MS-XP disk ?
  6. This thread is a fantastic waste of time and energy with only very few relevant answers. I'm new to this 9x forum but ...amazed.

    Installer Language

No you can't. Unless getting an english CD is considered as a "solution".

    press any key

'Press Any Key...' boot message. Enable/Disable ... I'm decoding here, means... surprise surprise.... that you enable or disable the 'Press Any Key" boot message. 'Use this'... means 'You may want to change something to the Microsoft default setting here', means change the default ('Enable') to 'Disable' if you want to disable the message. You have no excuse.
  9. -DirectX 9.0c is included in SP2 so you don't need to add it. -Winamp is (hard to follow) already at 5.32.
  10. I've always thought so. I think even the serial would work for SE. That would be the evidence.
  11. ...for the sites you visit.

    about partation c:

Because nobody wants to be held responsible for you loosing your partitions. Do a search on "autopartition". Here for instance.
  13. Anybody read this 10 times and tell me if it makes sense And in fact, ... OE is part of IE.
  14. Nope. Maybe I'm not clear. By the way, the problem is solved, this is a question, not a cry for help. See, if I add a partition, letters are shifted and my last optical drive disappears because the drive letters is limitted to my original line up: 3+2. This is not normal IMAO. I can solve it by extending the "lastdrive" to H or I, but this is not normal IMHO. There must be something wrong somewhere.
  15. Hi, I just did a fresh install booting from a custom cd and copying the 98se files on the HDD. Now it's up and running, I spent hours trying to install a driver for my usb key before I realised that if i put a "lastdrive=h" command in the config.sys, the drive actually does show. My config.sys was empty at first. Why does it limit the amount of drives to the original config (3 partitions +2 optical drives) ? Where, in what file, is the "lastdrive=g" hidden ?
  16. Have you tried booting that computer with an other (known bootable) Cd ? Or booting an other computer with that cd? That would ensure that the problem is software.
  17. also works for my DanElec 512Meg usb stick. I couldn't even find a proper driver for it on their site. Thanks !
  18. By posting and trying, you've already spent more time than it would have taken to just remake an ISO with the normal process, using last_session.ini.
  19. I bet if you replace that by "4in1 drivers are the same for all VIA chipsets and all MS OS (9x-2K & XP). (Last update 21.12.01)", it will work. It's not your posts that are too long, it's your file names. Using coma is not a good idea either.
  20. still does not what ? -what cd are you using instead of the OEM ? -is there no key on the computer (sticker) ? -search the forum for "OEM", there is a lot about this sort of issue.
  21. I thought we were talking about something that makes boot time longer to speed up application launching.
  22. Ryan is a nice guy who made (amongst other things, I'm sure he has a life ) a post SP2 update pack. That pack is available for download on his site (google it), is ~40meg, and is also slipstreamable via nLite (2nd step). This is sooo easy that you'd be foolish not to use it. As I wrote before, one of the updates included is called "Microsoft Update" and might be the one you don't include at first. Members are asked to not mix the posts about Ryan's pack problems and nLite's issues if possible, each having their own forum, own road and updates. Still one is welcome using the oter.
  23. There's not much positive things in your links, just "ideas". You'll find as much ideas if you google on "XP superfetch myth" or check this page. Sorry Tux, I admit I can't test it because I don't have much RAM.
  24. It depends of so much things that an answer almost cannot be given. Typically, you'll go from ~1.6Gig to ~700Meg on your disk so you should be able to run a 2Gig HDD. As for the ISO, as long as it fits on a CD, who cares ? . Mine (XP) is about 300Meg without the goodies. Others will surely be more precise.
  25. RyanVM's pack contains "Microsoft Update 5.8.0.2469". is this the update you have to make and are you using such thing as an update pack or are you entering each update separately ?
