  1. You searched hard for that one, didn't you ? What is nLite ?
  2. The English says "disable SFC" ... "Enabled (default)" .... disable... enable... is it not clear that those are opposites and that you enable or disable SFC and not "enable or disable the patch disabling SFC" like you seem to read it ? The Italian says "Disabilita SFC" ..."Abilita (predefinito)", it's exactly the same. The patch is disabling the service and the SERVICE is ENABLED by default ( = no change). There is only one SFC and it is enabled or disabled from the start of the install and stays so when XP runs.
  3. Hopefully you'll get an answer but I think Nuhi wrote a few days ago that MCE is not supported by nLite.
  4. It is the same "unattended" concept but switches like "Repartition" or "Autopartition" are not considered in nLite as they are to risky andf 99.9% of people prefer to triple check what they do when it comes to play with partition. You can still add them to your Winnt.sif after using nLite.
  5. Unattended is after the text mode part of XP setup. You will still be prompted which partition to install Windows.
  6. It still asks me to insert the XP cd. I also tried with the "/makelocalsource" switch but I still can't install XP from HDD. Also is it normal that the I386 folder contains 3100 files instead of 3900 in my nLite folder ? I did merge the Winnt.sif, I did correct the source line and I did delete the migrate.sif. Edited: I corrected my Winnt.sif where I had a line Msdosinitiated=0 and one msdosinitiated=1. Kept the 1 and now I'm in an install loop. First after boot it will ask me what partition to install, copy files to it then reboot and reask me ! Then say it cannot control C drive or my files are corrupted. Edited 2: if after 2nd reboot I replace the ntldr that is 255k by the normal one that is 245k (on all other bootable partitions of this comp), it works. What can be the reason that it is not updated in between ?
  7. There might be a confusion between registration and activation. I know most OEM installs come preactivated but still ask you to "register". You can skip that step and it will never ask again as egistering is not mandatory. Activation is.
  8. Your nLite disk will act like a normal XP disk in that matter. You wil be prompted which partition to install XP, wether to format it or not, or wether you want to delete or create (and which size) a partition in the available (unpartitionned) space.
  9. Coould also be a missing driver. (--> slows the comp).

    Change language

He simply needs an english XP cd. There is no "changing the language" of the OS itself.

    Quick Question?

Yes. And you can also find your "latest updates" (post SP2) as one pack, for instance on RyanVM's site.

    Quick Question?

I read your two posts three times and I still don't have a clue about what you want to do or if it has anything to do with nLite
  13. There is a quick and easy solution aswell: uncheck a box in the advanced System Properties (Startup part).
  14. I have a "Safeway" network card that would freeze my computer every minute when running XP-SP2. I solved the problem (after hours and hours of troubleshooting) by rolling back to the 2K drivers that were in the box. I think the card was detected as Realtek.
  15. I think it happens when you do not install to the active partition. So the boot record of the active aprtition is modified, just adding the install you created to the existing one.
  16. Maybe the fact that once you reboot in XP, it sees all other partitions and gets confused wich one to boot as letters change ?
  17. Do a search on "repartition", you'll find some threads about it. But if I find one of your CDs, I'd rather bin it.
  18. Maybe this is considered as a system folder and that could be the cause of the message ? Anyway, putting 500Meg on the desktop has never been a good idea.
  19. He means you can use the reg to deactivate in an existing Windows install. If you read before, the option is called "Activate window on mouseover" and I think it's at the beginning of the "tweaks" section in nLite.
  20. If it asks for the Windows cd, it's SFC, just click "cancel". If it asks for the Office cd,... ???
  21. yes . If the integration is successful, the drivers are in the i386 folder and the device will be recognized at the end of the installation.
  22. Sounds like you removed the IDE drivers for your HDD.

    Last Session.ini

There should be one in the root of the cd (or ISO) and also one in C:\Program Files\nlite\Presets\ on your harddrive.
  24. The CD first does the partitioning, then applies the image, then boots it. You can format it in NTFS in between but if you reapply the FAT32 ghost image, it will be FAT32 at the end anyway. But you say you will only use the i386 files and not the ghosting, so normally your new nLite cd will let you format the way you want, no ? (like a normal XP install). Also you can still convert FAT to NTFS after the install, it takes few minutes. Not very elegant but ...
