  1. You put one image on one partition. When that partition is 30Gig, it doesn't work, where's the dualboot bit ? Did I miss something ? Maybe the Pagefile is removed from the image and fills the remaining Gigs at boot ?

Loading the last session will havze you win 15minutes. But you must overwrite the i386 folder and the root files with those from the original cd.
  3. Got to be sure none of them have duplicate names as well or you'll get popups.

Which is a good thing if you are planning not to remove it. More seriously, it's in Components/ Network. If it's not there, it means you are using the resulting set of files where you removed OE, you need to reload the original set of XP files, import your last session.ini and untick OE for removal.
  5. There is a post-SP2 updates pack file made by RyanVM. Last is from october. You can integrate it with nLite. It's 47Meg.
  6. EXCELLENT idea. If, while doing the above, you could also avoid posting here offending people that have worked for months on this project would also be higly appreciated, and I guess ilko's poor innnocent pup would appreciate it too. jaclaz I'm not commenting the tone Sancho used, but really, you can't expect people to go through all 24 pages of this thread. Not everybody got enough time nor will to "learn and learn and learn", some just want a solution to their problem. By the time few will have read this thread's first page, that alone contains 20 links, thousands will give credit to people like Nick, not for your (huge) work, research and achievements, but just for him putting it all in a few lines. Someone needs to summarize this thread, be it in the 1st post or by making a sticky. Please don't flame me, I think I'm just being realistic.
  7. Problem with the design is that you'll end up losing more USB ports as they are more than often all placed in a row. Worse if they are vertical as mine, you'll be able to use only one of them if you can bend the cable enough.
  8. Can also depend on the configs you are using in the accounts settings. If on one computer you consult the server and on the other one you download and remove from server, it is normal that the inbox shows zero items on the 1st one after you've used the 2nd one. Just an idea.
  9. 1) this is for disabling "built in" accounts. I'm not sure what you end up with if you disable the administrator account though. 2) "blank password" is to confirm there is no password to that account, I guess this is a security of the XP setup. Autologon is something else, that's why it is in an other box on that same screen.
  10. I've opened 2 of them and I must admit that the drawer problem was fixed but no CD was read anymore. Bad luck or bad technician.
  11. The normal way to proceed is the opposite: remove only what you know you don't and you won't need, understanding what you do. Otherwise, you'll come back 10 times because something else doesn't work.
  12. Welcome to the forum. Please get us real messages so we can have a clue where you are stuck.
  13. Copy all files on the root of the original CD to your nLite temporary folder on the HDD, then only recreate the ISO.
  14. Is there no way to disable the IDE before install (easier than physically disconnecting it) ?
  15. There are 2 basic things to check for OOBE: -Components/ Operating System Options: "Out Of the Box Experience" --> don't tick -Unattend/ General "Skip OOBE" --> don't tick +There are plenty of OOBE threads open on the 1st page of the forum, also a few lines in the FAQ.
  16. I'm still trying to figure out what you actually want. The description seems to cxontradict itself. The answer would probably imply merging what you want then use "paste special" to paste the format on the rest of the cells.
  17. Those just take place on the cd. The reason to get them off is to gain -time when creating the iso and burning the cd -room on the cd in case you need it for additional drivers and application addons or installers.
  18. You need to share the drive on its PC first. after that, "\\24.124.2.3\d" (or whatever the IP is AND the sharename) will look more like it. Of course if you can't ping the IP, there is an other problem.
  19. You've put spaces in the user names. I think that might cause both accounts to be invalid.
  20. Do you have RAID activated on your SATA controller ? Also there were tons of more intelligent choices for a member name.
  21. Man please, sorry, get your english fixed , your message in unreadable, -never seen such message as "invalided" partition (nor "partitian") -why do you want to install to the D drive ? -does the system you start with load any cdrom drivers ? Or when you say the cdrom doesn't work anymore, is it a hardware problem ? Maybe its just not loaded and doesn't get any drive letter. And really, what you are trying to do is not clear at all. Surely straight, clearer info would help. woops, I see submix8c replied at the sqame time-
  22. Are you sure you did not uncheck the "Active" box ? Have you checked the folders in "Documents and settings" ? I've never seen an install without "administrator", I'm not sure it's that easy to "go ahead and create it yourself".
  23. Hi, this is for a friend I visited last week. He got himself a new notebook. He planned to use his adsl connection on that laptop but I ran into trouble (though I did get a few beers). There is no problem on his old PIII desktop (USB 1 surely), but when plugged on the laptop, the modem loses synchro every ~35 seconds. I don't think the parameters are the matter as if I understand, the odel just needs to be plugged in to get the synchro. The only difference I can see is the laptop may have less power on the USB port, and has USB 2. The modem is a Sagem 800 and the sheets say USB 1.1 and consumption <2,5watt. Phone and USB are the only cables to it. I did try with a bulkier USB cable and it's the same problem. Led blinks 15sec, then stays on 15, then goes off and again. When plugged in the desktop, blinks then stays on. Is 2.5watt considered too much for a laptop's USB (even on main) ? I can't find any info on that level (here for an Acer Travelmate 7720G-302G). Anyone ?
  24. The problem seems more that it doesn't boot from HDD (doesn't find it ?) than to be able to turn off PXE boot. Normally, you can stop the serach for PXE server by pressing 'Esc', but that won't solve your problem. Does the HDD appear correctly in Boot Order after cold boot or do you have to redetect it ??? Maybe a battery problem ?
  25. Depending on what's been done, Testdisk could recover the whole partition in a few clicks. That is if it has just been deleted, not formatted.
