  1. Ok, let's say a user (not me obviously) closes Word and chooses "DON'T save" , then asks for the automatically saved versions of his file he worked on since few hours... Both "background save" and "auto recover" are active. I believe "autorecover" is the ~one that reopens when Word has crashed. Now where or what is the "background saved" document (if any, when the user chooses not to save and exits, in which case, what's the difference with auto recover from the user's point of view) ? Thanks.
  2. Check for RyanVM's pack. That can be integrated with nLite as is in a few clicks and it's 1 download. I believe its last update is not that old.
  3. that all depends on what can or cannot be called "XP". the rest
  4. what about some description of your actual progress ?

    Repairing XP

I've never seen a power supply causing a bsod. And I've seen plenty of actual bad RAM sticks. More than trashed CPUs. I guess every case is different.

    Repairing XP

Unless you get clearer, I doubt this is going to solve your "little odd problems". This is for heavier problems.
  7. What are your disks and partitionning at the moment ? I use a dos boot disk with Ranish Partition Manager on it and it's a very simple but powerfull tool. I create two primary partitions (+ one extended for data if you plan to reinstall often), and use the last cylinder to make a boot manager. I install both OS on its primary and active partition, reinstall a "standard" MBR after each install and switch the active one at boot if needed through the boot manager. It's neat and easy to understand. I never had an unrecoverable crash due to this. But it implies reading the explanations a minimum.
  8. There is the normal process, which is to start from a MS cd, tell nLite all it has to do, then proceed. The rest is considered DIY. You can take your result and reintegrate new things or remove more, but there is always a risk that it doesn't work. I'd say don't load your last session and just choose the steps you need.
  9. NLite doesn't do "autopartition", so you should always have the partition setup if the files come from an nLite process. Choose "Fully Automated" in Unattended Mode. Providing you fill all required files, it should be OK.
  10. I guess he sorted it 6 years ago ?
  11. Thanks. I also remember now that to add storage drivers, one use "TXTSETUP.OEM" files which USB drivers don't provide. So this could have answered part of my question as well.
  12. I've noticed different systems boot (for instance BartPE on USB) at very different speeds, and it's not really dependant on the power of the system itself. Some go fast all the way, some go slow then faster, some go slow all the way. Is it a question of (different types/drivers) USB reading speed or rather the complexity of the machine that makes the OS search for more device drivers ? Can you integrate USB drivers like you integrate "storage drivers" Bart's way to optimize speed ? Bart says you can integrate "only" storage or NIC drivers. Anybody got experience on this ? I hope this is not too off topic. I searched a bit on www.911cd.net but got a bit confused, it says booting from DVD takes 3minutes but from USB takes 15minutes. Something must have changed in between. My Sempron 1.6GHz notebook from 2005 boots to "network settings" in 24 seconds, other systems from 2007 (a dual Xeon 1.6 or an AMD 64x2@2.0) take about 2 minutes. Am I just lucky with that Sempron ? I used PE2USB provided in Wimb's package.
  13. From my experience, for some printers, if you use a different cable, you have to reset the printer for it to work 'through the other connection", but I don't know if this is your problem. It is also possible that the driver is present on the machine but the user doesn't have the rights to install a local printer.
  14. Pour ton message, peut-etre qu'un chkdsk /r peut réparer quelque chose, mais je crois aussi que tu vas passer beaucoup de temps pour un systême bancale à l'arrivée. Un petit effort en anglais et tu auras peut-être plus de réponses.
  15. Moving the whole thing to a different part of the room could show if it's not linked to electro-magnetic fields. Not kidding.
  16. Unless there is an other problem and if the programs are still there, C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe and C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe create shortcuts of them and put them in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs" + @Jaclaz
  17. Now interrestingly, this is the opposite case of what has been asked last weeks. Share the cable connection.
  18. http://www.msfn.org/board/nlite-stop-ISO-f...on-t111826.html ?
  19. must be that. Will try next time and post an update.
  20. Log on as "administrator" and copy only the profiles you need, not the system folders.
  21. I have that to. The screen goes off and there's no activity anymore. Only thing I can do is turn it off and on by pressing the button for 5 sec. Hibernation is disabled and ACPI installed. Mouse light is on as well.
  22. No warez. WinPE/BartPE boot from CD or USB and can read NTFS no problem. And they are so much more than a DOS boot disk. Ghost32 works fine with them as well.

    N00b Qestions

nLite does not remove things "no matter what you choose". If those drivers are not in, either they were not on the CD for a start or you do choose them for removal or you choosed them before and are reusing the files where the drivers have already been removed.
  24. No. Can't remember what it's called at the minute but there is a pack you can buy from MS to switch language but it's only available for Volume Licensing and starting with an English version. Nothing to do with nLite.
  25. So what screen are you left with ? nLite normally stops at the screen with the "Make ISO" button. All the burning stuff comes on that screen or after, not before. You can check the size of the directory by a "right-click" and "Properties". ... also please do not reply within the quotes, it's a bit disturbing.
