Installing SP2 via VNC - will I cut myself off?
XtremeMaC replied to jimwillsher's topic in Windows XP
u could also put that firewall off registry into runonce this way u'd not need to remote reg in and restart just save the reg file and make a .bat file to call and merge the reg file. either by using reg command or regedit /s command so something like this of course u can make this prettier. this is my lame work... ow and u'd need to copy the sp2.bat and runonce.bat .. u can put them into 1 bat file but i'm too lazy right now.... -
Installing SP2 via VNC - will I cut myself off?
XtremeMaC replied to jimwillsher's topic in Windows XP
i've actually done this yesterday via ultra vnc i've used overwrite & do not back up files & do not restart switches along with it. it installed correctly and then I've restarted it. u can also use the shutdown.exe to remotely restart all those machines.. and yes at first the security center pops up asking for virus progams and firewall etc. so yes it blocked the vnc access. 2 things u can do. 1st completely disable the firewall via .reg file either right after installing sp2 or add it to runonce. 2nd enable those ports after the install of sp2. (i don't know how u'd manage this.) but to stop the security center and firewall u can just use reg tweaks. i've to get going now. don't have time to grab those regs for u but they're asked billions of times in the board. good luck.. -
i've been using the beta's of sp2 no problems with generals so far. now just tested it on a clean sp2 still no problems. just dl dx9c and re install...

well i would think that MS is not using those as mirrors. simply someone's adding them as mirrors. also shareaza has to ability to work as a download program just like download accel flashget getright etc... so if u copy and paste the link the same exact link shown on gamehead's attachment u'll see that it'll dl it. and go to download.com copy the shortcut of a dl link and paste it onto shareaza or set it to catch url's and it'll dl. @gamehead200 which hacked tcpip.sys are u using? I've seen several on this board.

well after putting those files u need to execute the inf files c: cd\ md install echo change d:\ to your cd rom drive (there is a very easy auto cdrom drive finder in the forums) copy d:\i386\au.in_ c:\install copy d:\i386\rootau.in_ c:\install copy d:\i386\wuauserv.dl_ c:\install copy d:\i386\wuaueng.dl_ c:\install copy d:\i386\wuauclt.ex_ c:\install copy d:\i386\wuauhelp.ch_ c:\install cd install expand -r *.* C:\WINDOWS\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 au.inf u don't need the rest.. ow and I'm not sure but the auto update service might be disabled, u'd have to enable it also the au.inf contains more files than jdeboeck removed wuauclt1.exe wuaucpl.cpl wups.dll wuaueng1.dll wucltui.dll wuweb.dll etc... u might need to do a similar thing for the other files --------below not neccessary---------------- rem Updating txtsetup.sif echo au.inf>> txtsetup.log echo rootau.inf>> txtsetup.log echo wuauserv.dll>> txtsetup.log echo wuaueng.dll>> txtsetup.log echo wuauclt.exe>> txtsetup.log echo wuauhelp.chm>> txtsetup.log findstr /v /b /i /g:txtsetup.log i386\txtsetup.sif > txtsetup.sif copy txtsetup.sif i386\txtsetup.sif del txtsetup.log rem Updating dosnet.inf echo d1,au.inf>> dosnet.log echo d1,rootau.inf>> dosnet.log echo d1,wuauserv.dll>> dosnet.log echo d1,wuaueng.dll>> dosnet.log echo d1,wuauclt.exe>> dosnet.log echo d1,wuauhelp.chm>> dosnet.log findstr /v /b /i /g:dosnet.log i386\dosnet.inf > dosnet.inf copy dosnet.inf i386\dosnet.inf del dosnet.log rem Updating sysoc.inf expand -r i386\sysoc.in_ findstr /v /i /c:au.inf /c:rootau.inf i386\sysoc.inf > sysoc.inf copy sysoc.inf i386\sysoc.inf makecab i386\sysoc.inf i386\sysoc.in_ del i386\sysoc.inf -

Where to buy Virtual PC 2004 English Version?
XtremeMaC replied to argon007's topic in Software Hangout
why don't u get the trial version instead. after all i'm sure u're not going to use it much after making your unattended. but still u can get it at this location http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc...uy/default.mspx for $129 u could try vmware too.. -
nothing like that on my home or pro versions

hi there thanks for the comments i'm checking out that forum (btw it needs redesigning )
-
okay u've deleted the partition right? u haven't created a new partition right? if so u can get everything back but if u created a partition on it, it'll get a little trickier and its gonna get messy if u even wrote something on that partition.. after all all of the programs do similar things.

i've used r-studio ntfs but acronis is also good and i'm very sure as gm mentioned wininternals is pretty good

could someone confirm the shappire? I've heard of it but never bought 1. I always liked asus cards though they're expensive.. are there any pages that compare brands instead of chipsets? okay 1 other question would one go and buy a 256mb ati 9600? 256mb ati 9200? 128mb ati 9800 pro? 128mb ati 9800 se? 128mb ati 9600 xt? 128mb ati 9200 se? etc.. u get the picure.. would buying an 256mb (non-xt) be a better choice then buying a 128mb xt? [price limit $200...] Thanks

I just got doom3 and erm i've geforce 4 440 64mb and can't really play smooth on lowest res. this nvidia ati question lies for me as well. looking for something below $200. I'm a nvidia fanboy though I've lost track of graphic cards after the nvidia's took 2 slots. so i was looking at fx5700 256mb winfast a360, is it worth paying for? my previous gf cards were winfast. I was pretty happy with them. well okay nvidia or ati. 1 thing confuses me so much. which brand to get? and what's so different about the different brands using the same chip getting more out of it? so at the end whats a good brand good card under $200? THanks

well it might sound dumb but check to see if your ide cables are 80-pin.
