to prove that ME really sucks and should never been released otherwise this was an old topic.. though I must say I agree with Zxian win98 was widely used, well at least by me, i had used it for such a long time, then tried ME, didn't like the idea of getting new drivers, new programs, new version of everything which didn't quite work well, and along the release of ME there was w2k, i quickly switched over to w2k because there was something wrong about ME. (i cannot recall my memories) but at the time when I got ME, there wasn't much talk on how ME sucks, so when I got it I just used most of its functions and hated it so much, I was so used to 98 & 98se and I was even used to the crashes and created my own improvements and to-do's when 98 was going to crash or crashed. with ME it was different it wasn't the taste i was looking for, most things that worked on 98 didn't work on ME, games, apps. at that time w2k was sooo good! switching over to it and getting driver updates was even more fun bc it felt right with w2k. and it didn't look any fancier than 98 nor ME. I know some say that they used ME and liked it, i can only say that either they didn't use it as much as those who hate ME or they are simple too calm and never tried to do multi-tasking and used memory-hungry apps to get ME to crash. XP is by far the best Os yet. I dunno why home and pro would be rated differently bc i don't think there are much differences in them, in which i mean if u're going to use pro's features and bought home version and bc of that hated the home version I cannot say anything, but pro is not so different from home and I use both. and as for dos i cannot really compare it with windows for server editions i'm sure ppl who use them are pretty happy with them, or at least found ways to improve it, so at the end I like M$, and someone asked why $ rather then S and i'd say its bc of the marketing purposes on releases on ME and billy being the richest guy and as for Zxian comments, i agree on windows not being the most secure or whatever u want to call it, it simply cannot be, nothing is perfect, your friends, your car, your etc. everyone tries to make better, yes MS might be delaying or not doing some stuff in the best manner but there are alternatives so either get used to it or switch......

hi there i dunno why I had not been using the ntfs compression option but i just started using it to gain some space though i've enough.. what i wonder is when I open a compressed file how do i view it, I mean does it quickly extract the contents to temp and view it or what? also would it take too long to open up if i was to compress a large file or set my hdd to compress automatically?

really sucks but they were not getting payed i'd assume bc i haven't bought winamp and not using the pro features and its been free the whole time what I'd think would be nice is to put it on sourceforge and let others develop the program...

its probably a advertising trick, first they make ppl wonder what the heck it means, then next ad will be more interesting, then they'll show u what that really is

that happened to me once it basically just deleted the fat table, so all your files in there but since TableOfContents are deleted it says it's unallocated. what I did was I got R-studio Ntfs recovery program and recovered all my files.. there are other alternatives as u've mentioned acronis has a partition recovery program but i didn't really like it, bc at the time when I had this program it didn't allow copy of that partition to a already allocated partition. and I didn't have extra hdd to backup my stuff.... anyways u can 1st try the trials of those programs to see if they can find the files, (don't worry they don't access them unless u told them so, so no changes will appear in your hdd unless u click on recover option.)

fried itself? wow. u could ask for a replacement from maxtor it should at least have 1 year warranty right?, i dunno where u can get the circuit board, i dunno your capabilities but u won't find it easy to replace the board even if u find it... and have u find a probabl cause why it fried? i'd focus on that and fix the cause to stop further problems....

hi there I've static ip and its 81.214.74.*. thats what the isp gave me and had been like that since. now i've been looking at some pages and it tells me that my ip is 195.175.37.* and shareaza test page claims that its my proxy now what the heck's going on? I don't have any proxy programs opened or configured through my dsl modem. bc of this i'm getting low id's and timeouts from all over the p2p networks??? help Thanks

Hi there I had bought a stupid adsl modem + router 4 port econ brand now i'm sick of it doesn't support upnp and bc of that I've to go through stupid configurations I want to get 1 hardware to do all: dsl modem, 4 port switch, etc... most of the brands state dsl/cable router and they say i'm gonna need a dsl modem to connect to it, and i don't want to do that.. so for both wired & wireless what are my options? I've looked at netgear DG834G http://www.netgear.com/products/details/DG834G.php and its a little bit too much since i'm on 256kbit dsl connection 54mbit would be nice no price range.... TIA

Hi there I've just been notified of the new version. here u can get the 30 day trial. http://ftp.raxco.com/pub/download/pd70/pd70ds.exe first thing I've noticed is the slight speed increase in defragging (which is important ) and the UI is pretty friendly. and 1 other reason why I like this is it has network support (yea I know others also have, i also use diskeeper just to compare) so have a look Bye.

most spyware tools are pretty automated update and scan then remove hijackthis could be hard to understand at times, i'm sure logs won't help those who don't know what they're looking for, so i'd say just put the names of those "hi-jacking" spy stuff's names.

get reshacker u can easily change it, but this is per file based. so i dunno go and have a look at all of 7-zip program files with reshacker and try to find the sfx image icon and change it... or use winrar

i think he wants to automate the labeling process? so select and number the selection? (unfortunatelly i don't have any apps to do it automatically)

did u remove somethings from your xp? like via nlite or something? are the services dcom and com+ are enabled?
