  1. Do you even have another network beyond the 192.168.0X subnet? If not why do you have a gateway listed on that interface? Try removing that and see if it helps. Thanks
  2. What Ip address, Subnet mask and Default gateway do both interfaces have? Thanks
  3. It sounds like it could be a line fault. Phone them up and ask them to run a line test on your ADSL line. If they find a fault they will pass it to BT to fix. Cheers
  4. Compare the permissions on the 2 folders, thats really the only thing, i think Anonymous has to set to "contributor" for the mail to arrive
  5. Hi everyone, I have a Server core installation that holds the PDC emulator FSMO role, using a WMI query pushed out by GPO im going to make all clients update their Time&Date from the PDC. Does anyone know how to configure the time service on a server core box? if i run W32tm /register i get an access denied error, even though i am running as admin? Thanks for any help EDIT: actually i think its already an NTP server i ran W32tm /query /configuration and it looks enabled but the time is set wrong. If i run net time /setsntp:"timeserver" it comes back with the wrong time though what am i doing wrong? EDIT2: LOL i can just run "control timedate.cpl" who would have thought?
  6. Check out Remote Web Workplace. It is a setting in the internet config wizard of SBS servers. If you configure that users can connect via http to the server and then from there login and pick their desktop
  7. Just so everyone knows, i have tried PING and it is fantastic. I have imaged and restored my server 2008 box, an XP laptop and a vista Desktop - all flawless. Its easy to setup and easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone here
  8. Malware immunizer would work i suspect, but its only passive protection. You could try spyware terminator, that has a built in real-time sheild. see if that one works
  9. CA make the worst anti-virus in the world - I should know a company i worked with used it for the 3 years i was there and guess what whenever they got a virus we would just download Avira or AVG to clean the infection!
  10. Neither is better. The fancy GUI front end under the hood will probably call the same APIs that diskpart does to create the partition, so it probably makes no difference
  11. Yeah iv seen this. I had to put my key in during install otherwise it was a no go I agree, it sucks.
  12. Vista and server 2008 drivers *should* be near identical. My X64 server 2008 is actually using pretty much all Vista X64 drivers. I guess because the Kernel Version is the same it just works. But as Zxian said maybe someone more knowledgable can tell us why it just works
  13. Hi everyone, I have a physical windows server 2008 box here, very good spec and i wanted to capture it to a wim file. I ran sysprep with generalize and oobe and then booted into winpe. I mapped a network drive and ran a image /capture which completed fine. Now when the server boots back up it is stuck on the grey screen where it says "please wait while windows continues setting up your computer" Does anyone know why? Thank you for any help/advice EDIT: I have just applied the captured WIM image to a VM and its doing the same thing
  14. Tell us the devices you are using, their interface speeds and the media over which they connect and we can help better
  15. Try going to control panel -> mouse properties -> pointer options tab and untick the box under "Snap To" and see if that helps
  16. Try running iexplore -extoff to load ie with no add-ons and see if it works like that
  17. Hi all, im building an X86 Winpe Disc and would like to be able to test it in VMWare but i cannot for the life of me integrate the drivers. I pointed peimg at the c:\prog~1\vmware directory and it integrated 3 drivers, iv built the disc properly, but it still doesnt pickup an ip when i boot a VM. Can anyone tell me where i can get the drivers from please? Thanks EDIT: Nevermind i found them here and have integrated them http://rs5.rapidshare.com/files/6595029/VM...ivers_5.5.3.rar Cheers!
  18. Sp3 has a few new things besides just a roll-up of updates. Iv not paid much attention to these differences to be honest since iv been on X64 for sometime now. Anyway one thing i know is that SP3 has the NAP service, which in a corporate environment allows machines to be quarantined if they dont meet specific security standards (missing AV signatures and patches etc) This is paticularly useful for laptops. Aside from that i really dont know what else is different myself. You might want to read through the whitepaper on it: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...ang=en#filelist Cheers
  19. Wow what a story, Im so glad you have all your data back, it would be terrible to loose all your pictures and home videos! Thanks for sharing it with us
  20. Im gonna have a proper look at this sometime between now and christmas if i remember and if i get chance as i would also like to know why this doesnt work.
  21. Wow 1.5TB Seagates seem really bad looking at those links.
  22. Thanks PuntoMX and jCarle, thats good advice from both of you. If i assume then that the bus between the north and south bridge is the bottleneck and go with an Asus board with an Intel chipset then all should be ok Thank you P.S i did ask the guy if he had any documentation on this in my first email but he didnt say anything other than what i quoted, its a shame really as it would be nice to have a KB article or something on this type of thing.
