  1. Still didn't work. It tries to DNS on the 192.168.0.1 which has DHCP but no DNS (there is none on that network). Ended up re-wireing my network to solve the problem. Boxing day running cable, yay.

Same problem, if it's connected than Windows tries to do DNS off of it which doesn't work.

  4. Ok, I have two ethernet ports on my computer. One is connected to the internet (have tried both directly and through a router). The second (Ethernet 2) has no internet, just LAN connection. I can only access the internet if I disable or unplug my LAN ethernet connection. As soon as it is plugged in, Windows uses that, and that exclusively for internet instead, and as I have no internet connection on that network it doesn't work. Windows is identifying it as Local Only, which makes it even more annoying that it tried to use that for internet. How can I force Windows to only use the internet ethernet port for IP's outside the 192.168.x.x range? Thank you in advance. Edit - It's also trying DNS through the LAN. It might even work if I just get it to lookup DNS on the internet port.
  5. In XP I used to make user accounts that didn't have local logon privileges to allow them access to network shares. Can this be done with Vista, and if so, how do you do it? Thank you for any help.
  6. I just made the transition to Vista (Home Premium) from XP. I used nLite on XP so it only made sense to use vLite. The basic install went perfectly, but there is still some tweaking that I want to do separately from vLite that I used to do in XP, but I do not know how to do in Vista. I know this is OT but this is the only forum I know that has knowledgeable Windows tweakers. First, on XP I stored the My Documents folder on a separate (larger) drive. This way I don't need to worry about it when formatting and have more room for things like video. How can I store the equivalent (the folder with my username that's got a shortcut on the desktop) on the other drive? Second, in XP I would make user accounts that couldn't log on locally, they just had network access for file/printer shareing. How can I do that in Vista? Thank you to anyone who can help.
  7. I want to populate the Desktop and the My Documents folders of a user created in nLite's unattended install area. Is it as simple as just making the folders "$OEM$\userdir\Desktop" and "$OEM$\userdir\My Documents" and putting things in there? Or will those folders not be considered the same or copy at the wrong part of setup or something like that? If that won't work, how should I go about doing so? Edit - And am I also able to put things such as "My Music" or "My Pictures" inside that My Documents?
