So what is the ideal solution?
-
So I need to either remove it or add the same value to SYSTEM.CB?

The README.TXT explains most instructions. Things like IE 5/6 is not required. I don't use either. The SP can be installed on any machine with or without IE5/6 or 98lite. You have many options to choose from in SP3.x. Auto-Patcher is great for people who are having problems with SP3.x. Auto-Patcher has things like DirectX, .Net Framework, Windows Media Player etc..... SP does NOT have those options. Don't mix SP with any other packages. Use one or the other. I have been reading all of these 1GB+ topics and they all have me going in circles. The reason I asked because SP adds System.ini,386enh,,"MaxPhysPage=40000" and if there is no general/default setting, then it can be removed in the next release.

Are there any objections in using these settings? I don't understand how there can so many different setting for 1GB of ram. There should only be one ultimate setting.

"98 SE SP 3.7" includes Kernel32.dll (version 4.10.0.2226, build RRL). Binary analysis shows that this is not the original file patched by Mr. Loew (version 4.10.0.2225, build RRL), not there is also a file of the COPY2GB patch (version 4.10.0.2226, build QFE). Does anyone know anything specific about the origins and characteristics included in the Kernel32.dll of the "98 SE SP 3.7"? Searching and reading goes a long way on the forum Solution

How to change the color of the arrow in a shortcut icon?
PROBLEMCHYLD replied to Comos's topic in Windows 9x/ME
This was overlooked when I changed the WinMe icons. I only focused on the main icons. I have fixed it already in 3.8. -
HDAUDBUS.SYS 5.10.1.5013 has no missing functions. Great find

The latest hotfix/update for Win98 USBAUDIO.SYS is USBAUDIO.SYS 4.10.0.2224. If you are happy, then I am super happy. Thanks.

You might want to try older versions. This is how I normally test files. I always start from the highest version and work my way backwards. It saves a lot of time from having to replace the same file with an updated version. DRMK.SYS 5.1.2600.1106 XP SP1 DRMK.SYS 5.1.2600.2180 XP SP2

This was Gape's design by default. I didn't change it because he must have had a very good reason for this. I'm sorry but I don't know of any other solution. Was everything fixed after you installed the latest DirectX? Do you think this solution can be use in the Service Pack?
-
Its good that you followed all the necessary steps. I'm glad you have it working. There is only a slight workaround in 3.7. All the instructions that has been listed needs to be followed until we find an overall solution. Like rloew said, most boards has at least one PS/2 connection. This is the only solution for now. Thanks again for testing. It was smart of you to remove the SP3.CAB, as I said earlier it becomes the default for the Win98 cab files. You don't need to remove the cab file in 3.7. rloew, if you have some time, maybe you can whip up a quick tutorial and add it to the first post. Then anyone who's having these issues can maybe benefit from the solution. Thanks everyone.

This won't work either because all updated files resides in the SP3.CAB. If a user installs a new USB device, the files from SP3.CAB will be installed causing the same issue(s). This is considered the default instead of the Win98 cd cabs. I will also have to remove each file one at a time, just to be safe avoiding other mistakes, making sure I don't break anything else in the process. Tampering with the Main Updates option is serious.

A very BIG Thank you. I will watch for your postings. Some of you guys were right, there is no overall solution as of yet. We are working on it. Thank you for your patience.
-
This means, I will have to remove USB drivers altogether.Making them optional is not an option because users would still have this problem if they don't have a PS/2 Mice/Keyboards. I'm still working on it.
-
For all the people who rely only on USB Mice and Keyboards and canNOT use PS/2 Mice and Keyboards, please post here. I know exactly what the problem is and will be fix immediately. I don't have this problem because I have both USB/PS2 devices. I was able to reproduce this error by not using my PS/2 Mice and Keyboard. Solution 1 I'm working on solution 2.

Thanks for the heads up. I prefer for files to have their original timestamp.

The WinME version comes from MDGx IOSYS98. The Win98 version you had, I don't know how that got there because SP3.x deletes it by default. It may have been some of the software you installed. This was an original finding from Gape.
