You'd need win2000 server not pro for most of that. What I means is, I don't want to use them all. I just want to use the best network/server scheme. I'm sure there's another way instead of buying a win 2000 server disc. I'm not giving M$ no more of my hard earned so they can kill support for it soon. I'm trying to figure out of the above what type of server/network should I used along side with vpn. VPN will be mandatory. Thanks

I'm not sure if I want my computer ran as a Network so many other computers can connect, or ran as a Server, for the same reasons. Me personally, I thought they were the same but I was wrong. Now what confuses me, I'm not sure the best way to go. What I mean is you have Active Directory, DHCP, VPN, DNS, etc.... Now my Network/Server will have Windows 2000 pro on it as the OS. Other computers will not have access to the machine but will have access to the external devices such as the Printer, DVD-ROM, HDD. I will be the only with privileges and would like to connect only through VPN. Not sure how the other computer will connect. VPN only allow one connection at a time, and thats cool since I will be the only one with privileges. Can somebody help me out?

Support for Win 2000 is about to end soon. Is anybody using newer Win XP files on a Win 2000 machine? If so, can you post the files any/all that are compatible/stable. Thanks

This is my first slipstream endeavor. I love the outcome. I still would like to remove both notepads, and install Wordpad because it read Microsoft Word documents. How Do I do this? What folder do I put SCRIPTEN.EXE in?

The Direct X Diagnostics Tool pops up. Well I though I didn't have it. Everything still works fine though. Thanks for your hard work. I will just use Direct X Eradicator.

Its weird but I'm happy. I installed your fdvfiles.zip and it didn't install Direct X. I don't understand the difference between the fdvfiles-9b.zip/fdvfiles.zip. Everything is working for me so I have no complaints. Thanks

Its set to manual. I set it to automatc...... This still doesn't allow me to install any type of msi files period, with Switches or no switches. So the PROBLEM remains.

I get a Windows Installer menu with a lot of switches/commands listed. Thats all.

Thanks once again. I have the infrared working now. I have the Win 2000 default icons working. I have the list contents to text file removed. Is it possible to delete both notepads and have wordpad as my default text viewer, with it hotfix? How do I do this? I want to also delete paint it won't be used at all. I tryed replacing Iexpress with a newer version but it didn't install. I placed the file in the D:\$OEM$\$$\SYSTEM32. I tryed netmon, it said I'm missing another file, Parser.dll. I can't find it nowhere. Still no luck on adminpak.msi or other msi files. Once I get these minor issues resolved I will be good to go.

My Win2000 cd is Pro ,I will set it up as a server. Also no MSI files are installing.

I have tested this on 2 laptops. HFSLIP with FDV fileset9 1. Infrared Device is not recognize in the device manager. Drivers are missing. 2. The caps lock function doesn't work anymore. 3. I have 2 notepads C:\WINNT and in C:\WINNT\system32 is it safe to delete 1. 4. ADMINPAK.MSI does not install. It might be missing some core files. 5. Direct X 7 is installed. Is it really needed since, I want be using it for media. This computer will only store media not run it. 6. A lot of empty folders are present, can I delete them? In 2xExplorer.exe is the 2xExplorer.exe.manifest file needed. I like this little app and would like to make it my default.

I need a ATI Mobility 128 AGP 2X driver. Dell has the wrong driver listed. Also I was able to get the screen fix because a c610 motherboard was shot and the screen was in mint condition for only 35 bucks. Now I can't find a graphics driver. Please help thanks.

Okay, okay I understand now. I'm just confused about which version to use because I install 98MP10 last, and it overrides the newer version from 98 SE SP3 Beta 4.

I have to agree with jaclaz/others the older forum was great. I have to say this has been the best/only forum I've been on. But you also have to remember why people don't pay for things because of situations like this. You have service packs that people start but don't finish but they expect you donate. Lets say I donate to something and something like this happens. Did I get my money worth. Everybody has a price but some are willing not to sell out.

These files install newer ADVPACK.DLL 6.0.3790.3959 VC_R_70 VC_R_7X VC_R_71 but 98MP10 installs an older version, can you please fix this when ever you have the time no rush thank you.
