Additionally you are aware that the procedure described in this thread will uninstall all of IE9 including the updates (back to pre-IE9).

Errm... the first post says start with an XP-SP1 source (which, AFAICT, has that file). Also, there's this topic about using nLite and removing stuff. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/ca0c677d-26c7-4512-a9f3-b5dec7541074/bug-report-while-addingremoving-windows-components-setup-was-unable-to-find-igamesinf?forum=itproxpsp Did you, by chance, start with an nLited source and/or not-SP1/SP2/SP3 and/or some "modified" source? This Unofficial SP4 is constructed directly from the SP3 package, so...

Trying to decide on Operating System and Office Package?

(heh...) http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171744-hf-folders-where-do-i-put-modified-txtsetupsif-and-layoutinf/#entry1081096 Web Archive down for maintenance. Noob? Seriously, we're TRYING to help, but you don't GOOOOGLE and continue to do thing's "your own way" that (apparently) don't work. TRY some of the suggestions, PLEEEEZ? HTH (Hit The Head, acronym meaning courtesy of Trip )

(holy...) Try looking here - YOU have to make them! Tomcat76 has -apparently- written some. http://hfslip.altervista.org/yellow/advancedfeatures.htm

Who said anything about a VARIABLE? It's a FOLDER! It just HAPPENS to be the Default User Profile that get's "copied" into a NEWLY CREATED USER profile. Duh! Google xp default profileHere's some references - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/6083.windows-xp-folders-and-locations-vs-windows-7-and-vista.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Folders http://www.deploymaster.com/manual/folders.html THIS one in particular - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490855.aspx I will NOT swear to this, BUT if you "modify" the "x:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile" it MAY work for a NEW USER! Your PROBLEM is you're trying to MODIFY during INSTALL and the above is for AFTER install. You MUST change a set of INF files (tjhey are COMPRESSED to xxx.IN_ on the Source). I TOLD you to use a BASIC nLite run to see what IT changes and do the SAME THING after-the-fact on HFSLIP. AGAIN, you are being STUBBORN and wasting time. It is IMPOSSIBLE to change this DURING the install on the DEFAULT PROFILE! Another reference (via the Google search) - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959753 HTH (again...) edit - In addition at this post (response to ANOTHER request you made), you'll see there's a SPECIAL PLACE in HFSLIP for HIVE mods (which is EXACTLY what you want) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/169569-video-error-during-install-when-gui-is-started/#entry1080185 Those INF files I mentioned (nLite mods) are EXACTLY what they do - CHANGE HIVES!

Hmmm... I see the problem now. TWO versions - v 2.00 for RTM http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exev2.10 for SP1 and abovehttp://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exeI will -assume- that you tried it with the v2.10. There's a VBS to add it to the Control Panel, which is where the -original v2.00- placed the link.http://remsset.com/files/xp_AddTweakUItoControlPanel.vbsHere's a reference to make the VBS -totally- silent, also if you understand the VBS, the REG entry is inside it.http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/11671-need-help-editing-tweakui-vbs-script/ HTH Note - for posterity, if nothing else. Kelly's Korner has been abandoned along with XP and MS' links. The above still work. In addition, the link for the Power Toys must be found on Web Archive. This is the original MS link - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx Kelly's Korner (abandoned) links - http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm (sigh...)

re: that "HAL" difference for x64... Didn't anyone notice the date differences? SP2 (RTM) is the above listed Server2k3x64. SP2 -plus- the following is what's listed for the XPx64 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956841 The listed Server has apparently -not- the above fix applied. To clear up the confusion - GDR vs QFE/LDR http://blogs.technet.com/b/joscon/archive/2011/11/30/how-does-windows-choose-which-version-of-a-file-to-install.aspx Apply that fix to Srv2k3x64 and watch it change. Bottom line is it's -possible- (probably) to "spoof" x64 Srvr->XP. Here's an Evaluation of x64 Datacenter Edition (SP2) if anyone wants to find that "key difference" in the registry. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11276&751be11f-ede8-5a0c-058c-2ee190a24fa6=True HTH

Start VPC, go to the Settings, and set the NIC to your "real" one. Bam! On the WWW. Set up Shares between the PC's -or- install Add-On's in 98SE and "share" a Win7 folder "into" the VM. HTH

Install all Windows Install ISOs from 1 MultiBoot USB drive
submix8c replied to steve6375's topic in Install Windows from USB
WTF is Linq? Build according to Tutorials. 1 - Get FiraDisk 2 - Get "package" - just some scripts - main one is MENU.LST (just the Menus fro Grub4DOS) 3 - Get RMPREPUSB 4 - Install the "package" to HDD, modify a couple of scripts (they are TEXT files) 5 - Run RMPREPUSB, installing Grub4DOS + copy the modded "package" 5 - Copy the ISO file in. - DONE- Pop the USB in the PC, turn it on, boot to it, pick an ISO, the ISO mounts and... INSTALLS! We use KISS freebie stuff here. -
Windows 7 - Slipstream USB 3.0 Drivers
submix8c replied to morocco31477's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Wlfman8, you do realize you requested an MS "BOOT.WIM", right? Please don't request that any more than you might request any of what might be considered warez. We don't provide that here - the best you get is a link to a LEGITIMATE (official) Win7 ISO and any drivers with instructions on how to integrate. Integration is up to you. Please abide by the MSFN rules. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?app=forums&module=extras§ion=boardrules Thank you and HTH (as others above already have...) -
*cough* t11 never came back *cough*... All of the above are true. 1a - Text-Mode drivers for SATA/RAID 1b - Turn off AHCI otherwise 2a - Pre-EnableBigLBA if using big partitions 2b - Pre-define and set active a partition within the first 128gb - stipulation is that you better not have any partitions beyond that until 2a is performed. Safe bet = 1a -or- 1b -and- 2a -before- install.

@LeakHunter - a year? Nope... v1.4.9.3 dated Sep. 9,2013. That's hardly a year, now is it? Close, but not... BTW, if you didn't notice this is nLite, not vLite, 7-or-8-lite (whatever). Nuhi just "happened" to mention another x-Lite, right? Heck, he even posted recently (28 March 2014) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/163667-nuhi-is-back-post-your-suggestions-here/#entry1072834 Keep your shirt on!

JFYI - I'm finding lots of XP stuff just magically disappearing, just like the pre-XP stuff did. Example - Kelly's Korner http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com Better go to the Wayback for that one too. ref - http://www.xpheads.com/forums/microsoft-public-windowsxp-general/82725-can-no-longer-load-kellys-korner-xp-tweaks-page.html notice the link to the MS webpage - also no longer exists. Quite a campaign MS has going on, eh?

Curious - is the BIOS set up as UEFI? If so, set it to "Legacy" (or something like that).

That's what I get for copy-paste, eh? BTW, found something interesting about the source of Kel's name - http://www.hardwareheaven.com/community/threads/uber.4528/ -
I'll trade you two grand-kids for one sane rational moment. Of course, I missed it. All's well that ends well. Gotta go yell at 'em to go to bed now.

Well, you're backed up as-of, except for the one archive file. May I express gratitude to bhlpbt as well? Dude, you are so nice! Cyber-hug for you! -
Even WORSE submix8c found the same "force uninstall" thing in a later post. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/172019-broken-ie-11-cant-connect-to-internet/#entry1080140 BTW, Sir Newsposter, those links are intended to be followed and read. HTH (jeez, what a time-waster )

AHCI vs PATA is what you're talking about. Integrating via nLite means -YES- get the correct drivers -AND- use TextMode Drivers. As you can see, it got past TextMode, so it can't be that. To continue, http://serverfault.com/questions/41281/moved-windows-server-2000-from-ide-drive-to-sata-drive-now-get-inaccessible-boot In addition, one may wonder if the large drive is recognized properly in the BIOS. HTH

1 - Service Pack 4 2 - EnableBigLBA Win2000 does not directly support Large HDD. Google this "windows 2000" "enablebiglba" site:msfn.orgPeruse the links that pop up. There's a way to insert that REG key in SETUPREG.HIV (for install-time). HTH

(sigh...) OP is unaware that "some brands" of PC BIOS uses different HDD translations than most. (*cough*Compaq*cough*)

trying to use Tualatin 1.4ghz for Nas4Free.. unable to boot usb?
submix8c replied to supernova777's topic in Hardware Hangout
I stand corrected. -
No/Yes - It appears that DISM is only in the WAIK for Win7/Win8r2(?) RTM and SP1 -and- the Win7/Win8r2(?) OS Install (and works -only- on Vista w/SP1 (and Server 2k8?) and above. Please note the foldernames I gave above (for OS installed). PKGMGR is "called" for Vista from DISM (if I read that correctly). PKGMGR is for -any- Vista/Srv2k8 (r2 is the exception as it's x64 released along with Win7). If you go to the vLite website you''' see that it -only- integrates stuff into RTM (the SP1 and pre-SP2 fixes?) and uses WIMGAPI and WIMFLTR(? not sure about this one). See this - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/127712-faq-why-does-vlite-asks-for-waik-installation/ And... a reference to a "tool" to "clean" the WinSXS folder after "install of SP1" - http://sreekarun.livejournal.com/8015.html HTH (I -am- trying) Side note - I don't have time right now to take a look at the Vista SP1 DVD's I have ATM to check on that. Gotta go yell at grand-kids.
