AFAIK... No, it does not. And it appears that this Topic hasn't been visited by the Supervisors (e.g. Cluberti) for a while?

At the risk of being reprimanded... Such an expert to come to MSFN and argue both on this Topic and this one as well - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/163539-are-ms-updates-for-xp-really-necessary/ And no other topics! BTW, you ARE aware there are many "experts" (you may remove the quotes if you wish) on MSFN (most certainly Certified (1) and actively working in the field) that just might disagree with you. P.S. "Stealth Mode" makes your PC (literally) "invisible" to the outside world, or is that a big lie, too? Maybe I just want to be "anonymous" and not allow anyone "outside" know I exist thus not giving them a "future opportunity" to "attack" my "now known IP address", knowing there ARE Port Scans by hackers using these methods? Useless "feature" by YOUR standards, correct (2)? (Must work for MS or NSA... )

Hmmm - in response to jaclaz (re: Time Zone) - Maybe that's why a "hacked" versions of cdimage exists, utilizing "-gnn" and "-xx" as opposed to just "-x" (both being "new"/"production" parameters)? The -trick- is getting the right (original) Time Zone from that offset as I've seen that it -may- vary from Release-To-Release (per OS and Service Pack). For example, take a look at -original- XP CD's (per service pack). Silly me - should have read the link... you are correct about the NT4 (signature) issue. I had found similar info "elsewhere". I -suppose- that the OP could "hack" a functioning version? Oh, and another link (member name from the link you gave) - http://forums.mydigitallife.info/archive/index.php/t-30481.html re - NT4... Heeeere's Johnny! "Seemingly" related? www.msfn.org/board/topic/128122-crc-verifycation-utility-version-300/ IMHO

"The update does not apply to your system" Server 2008 x86
submix8c replied to MrMaguire's topic in Windows Server
"System File Checker" There is no x64 version for XP AFAICT. I don't have an x64 XP running right now, but I believe you would have to -literally- overlay the ones in a -different- folder (can't remember offhand the -other- name) as x64 has x86 and x64 programs (etc) separated into different folders. You'll have to dig into that, unless someone else is willing to chime in and answer that. This may help understanding that - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WoW64 Also note the same (similar) procedure would be used for v6.0/6.1 (x86) with the exception of renaming the following: lhmstscx.dll-> mstscax.dll aaclient.mui->aaclient..dll.mui (copy/move to the en-us folder) lhmstsc.mui->lhmstsc.exe.mui (copy/move to the en-us folder) lhmstscx.mui->mstscax.dll.mui (copy/move to the en-us folder) HTH -
FYI - CCleaner does NOT empty the -contents- of the User's TEMP folder and it WILL get "filled up" by installs/uninstalls/etc. That's an "Other Folders" option that you have to enter the FolderName in. You can delete manually by -first- "unhiding" the folder(s) - https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100510224402AAtI58t Then delete the CONTENTS (not the TEMP folder itself) - http://appscout.pcmag.com/microsoft-windows/272405-find-the-temp-folder-in-vista-and-windows-7 Note the above link also tells you to "unhide" so you can access them. ALSO note it's a wise idea to - 1 - add the Folder Name to CCleaner "Options"->"Include" and add the following: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\*.* Note the <username> is to be replaced with what the above link info tells you when you find it. 2 - reset/reverse the "hidden" option within Windows 7, as the above link indicates. 3 - Run CCleaner occasionally. Your settings will "stick" so no need to repeat any of the the above processes. HTH

You can't upgrade x86->x64 as that is not an upgrade path. Clean Install only. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772579%28v=ws.10%29.aspx BTW, Windows7 has a built-in ISO-burner. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/burn-a-cd-or-dvd-from-an-iso-file In addition, I'm unsure if the above links are any good anymore. Were the the right size? General method of Download is with a Downloader (e.g. FlashGet) and -not- the built-in Download "Save/SaveAs" (it tends to fail). See this for a link-to-new-links - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171768-windows-7-sp1-unavailable-at-wu-and-direct-download/

No. You'll (MAY) need a Vista Emulation Plug-In. However, I -did- find this. http://www.win2008workstation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7750#p7750 Note that you WILL need a Vista CD to get the actual games. Use at your own risk! The Topic Link I gave is NOT related to MSFN and you'll receive no support from us. HTH BTW, this is for getting XP Games onto Server2K3 of which they are BaseCode-Related and will NOT work on Win2K8 (AFAIK) since it is NOT BasedCode-Related (rather related to Vista). Also note there's no attachment. THIS is for Win2K3 - http://win2k3.msfn.org/ edit - I found this for XP Games->Windows7 so it MAY work. AGAIN, use at your own risk! http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/replace-terrible-windows-7-games-classic-xp/

I can't seem to find what I had dug up at one time in reference to the EXCLCRC value. :dammit: Here's a reference you probably already have to AutoCRC though - http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/4e7be6a3-5c9f-4fcd-aa34-6f3e687025b4/failed-downloading-net-framework-35-sdk-for-4-times?forum=windowssdk

1 - Mode=Write and select the ISO file. 2 - Change the Write Speed to (maybe) 4x. 3a - AFAIK, the Key should work for an UPGRADE on three PC's only (activation). 3b - Don't provide a Key and get a Full Evaluation (google "slmgr" on how to extend the evaluation time). 3c - That's the most you'll get for a Key otherwise you're treading on dangerous ground. HTH

Set the Date/Time to PST? Why? This forces all files/folders written -and- the Volume(?) Timestamp (look around the CD001 value for that). That -y6 Option is an oddball. Guess I'll have to do some testing as well. Be aware that the "Signature" stuff is -not- in the "commonly leaked" versions and I flat REFUSE to provide any info/links I gleaned on that

Well, AFAIK, ".NET Runtime Optimization" is only worth a diddly for .NET Applications that you run. The sad part is that it's run as a SERVICE and occasionaly runs (NGEN) just to find out if you have added new .NET Apps. This, IMNSHO, is rather, shalll we say, they height of igorance"? See this reference (and links within) - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/a3107fff-8e61-48bd-8c3e-77afab7715d2/net-runtime-optimization-services-causing-high-cpu-usage?forum=w7itproperf In particular THIS link - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dotnet/archive/2013/08/06/wondering-why-mscorsvw-exe-has-high-cpu-usage-you-can-speed-it-up.aspx THAT, my friends, is why I IMMEDIATELY Disable the (so-called) Service after NET Updates. It has a nasty tendency to clobber your computer. I had a heck of a time figuring out what was "temporarily) bashing me and how to stop it. And YES it was causing my Symantec AV all sorts of heck (interrupting it), as well as other stuff. THAT is the EXACT reason I turn off Symantec Real-Time unless I have some reason to use it. As far as I'm concerned, MS is just as guilty as Symantec (and other vendor) Real-Time scanners. Dumb, to say the least (ref the NGEN thingy above). Question - just how many NET apps do you have installed - ON XP? Bet not many... So, what's the point of "optimization" for a handful (like nLite)? Just my opinion. You do what you wish. But (apparently) next time you update dotNET you'd better totally disable any of the Symantec Services so the NGEN part can run - After Install, go to Safe Mode and Disable ALL Symantec, reboot and let dotNet "optimize", then reset the original settings for Symantec Services. NGEN - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/6t9t5wcf%28v=vs.110%29.aspx HTH

(FWIW, see my above post link to SYMEVENT FTP site...)

(sigh...) Not that this helps (it's even apparently related to Win7), but... http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/symeventsys-bugcheck-code-0x4e-regular-bsod/a693f73f-1868-490e-9577-b2d0412b9ae9 edit - I don't have that file (SAV v10) -however- it -appears- that it's a part of SEP (v11 + ?)? http://madminblog.blogspot.com/2009/11/symeventsys-i-hate-you.html Further it -appears- that it's also part of older versions of NAV - http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/windows-xp-norton-antivirus-symevent-sys-blue-screen-t427125.html Perhaps an Update to your Symantec AV (whatever version) is necessary (if it exists). I may be able to help you out with finding it -if- you provide which Product/Version you have installed. edit - found this Obviously a "running service"... edit2 - errr... http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/113748-bdsod-stop-error-0x000000f4/ edit3 - via a (web archive) link in the topic - go here and check if this will work for you - ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/symevnt/

That's an "odd" amount of RAM 36480kb = ~4.56mb... Must have some RAM on-board as socketed chips.

VML = VGX.DLL (right-click on that...) Did you go to the -X- website I gave and have a look? Please revisit my original post. Also, revisit jaclaz' sugestion of VM to test. In addition (FYI) without the -latest- Windows Update Agent you'll not reach the Windows Update Website without (potentially) crashing -and- it -may- REQUIRE IE8 installation (which is listed as a CRITICAL Security Update). Basically, do NOT willy-nilly apply patches that you "find" on MS Downloads. The -X- website has the latest listed. Slip them in, test in a VM, and get any OPTIONALS manually as you wish and install in the VM, then go BACK to MS Update to find THOSE patches, rinse and repeat. DRIVERS may appear in "Hardware" on a REAL RUNNING PC (not a VM) so test the FINAL one (on the Real Machine) to get those and slip them in as well for the GIVEN Machine. I guess if you REALLY wanted to get crazy, you could go get the WHOLE DRIVERPACKS set but... why? HTH edit - and -IF- you use HFSLIP, I will -assume- that it deals with MediaPlayer9 Updates correctly (the Updates are multi-MediaPlayer-Version files). http://mimo.zxq.net/updatelist.htm -or- http://hfslip.altervista.org/updatelist.htm
-
OUCH! I turn that bad boy off (disable the Service) IMMEDIATELY after any updates. It (IMHO) drags the system.
-
Pshhh... HFSLIP is 3d Party too. AND also requires using 3d party tools in many cases. http://hfslip.altervista.org/hfslip-basics.htm http://hfslip.altervista.org/hfslip-advanced.htm http://hfslip.altervista.org/updatelist.htm (ref HFTOOLS...) Forgot all about "gsar" and as for the "other", you -may- need to use exact offsets for XVI32 ("freeware") as well. THX for the "other" HexEditor link.

Dude, are you another "touchy" soul? Do NOT use FDV's FileSet at this time! Use the INFO as provided. http://www.vorck.com/windows/ OK? You MAY use it as a REFERENCE but its VERY outdated! (Last update was June 2010...) And THIS - http://www.vorck.com/windows/xpsp4.html clearly states "Updated January 30, 2010." Further this - http://www.vorck.com/ Clearly indicates that Fred has "moved on" to Windows 7 and -does- still maintain Win2K3 x86 stuff. HTH edit - Be aware that the NEWEST FileSets (the ones you're using?) may or may not suit your needs (or work?). Do throw away any old stuff or archive and ensure you have the latest (as was indicated in your OTHER topics).
-
Those are REALLY old!!! Try this (right there, considering I gave the link to the NEW MSFN Topic "thingy") - http://hfslip.altervista.org/filechecker.htm The MSFN Topic (again...) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/140336-the-file-checker-hfslipfc-for-hfslip/ HTH (and do pay attention to using the "new" stuff and totally IGNORE the "old" stuff) edit - and check this out. A link or two on the left DO give links to many "defunct" stuff (particularly the OLD HFSLIP website). http://hfslip.altervista.org/yellow/

...and did you notice that links are there in the -X- website to each and every KB Article which will give links to the fixes within the CAB files? Simple... do NOT include any MediaPlayer CAB files or the IE8 Files. The filenames clearly show what they are. If you -really- don't understand about the -other- CAB files, maybe you should read the Notes at the bottom? Finally, the SWF file is an essential component for displaying SWF/FLV/etc (supported) with IE. Um... There are no "optionals" included. These would be e.g. Silverlight, dotNet, etc, and are strictly Add-Ons you would get "elsewhere" or from MS when you go to the Windows Update website. FYI, the "WindowsUpdateAgent7.6.7600.256.cab" has the Executable inside it and IS necessary to get to/use Windows Update -and- you could VERY WELL have problems with it if you DON'T install IE8 (listed as CRITICAL in Windows Update). Basically, you can call all those listed/downloaded (even manually from the links) both "Critical" and "Important". side note - the MediaPlayer files from MS are multi-version, the reason the CABs were created to prevent nLite from "barfing". Also note that these are updates to the SUPPLIED XP-SP3 MediaPlayer v9. HTH edit - it seems that the Unofficial XP SP4 is -loaded- with "optionals", after downloading/reviewing the Update List Attachment. Also note that it's currently at Alpha-level#2, so it's not even BETA yet. IOW, it's "use at own risk" whereas -X- is not. (NOTE: NOT KNOCKING IT, OK? Just pointing out the obvious...)
-
Then start apologizing. Those are SINGULAR languages with no integrated "language packs". IOW, I had to get one to reload a friend's PC (with their key, of course). ENGLISH ONLY was on the ISO! Subsequently I Updated it with the latest Win7 Post-SP1u updates. There is absolutely NO reason to to use vLite or any other tool, IMHO, except to integrate with OFFICIAL methods the Hotfixes. Guess you should have looked closer at the link? So, what's your #$%& beef? HTH
-
XVI32... http://www.handshake.de/user/chmaas/delphi/download/xvi32.zip HTH edit - forgot to mention that it's used in -X- UDC script (xdot.tk) and it's downloaded with WGET and extracted using 7ZIP for use. Bear that in mind if you intend to "redistribute" your modified HFSLIP script. Of course, even that should be (maybe) disallowed unless explicit permission is given (unsure of whether there's any issues with that).

Google on the first error "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" XPonly gives seemingly related problems in two of the links, indicating some kind of driver conflict (weird).http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/264217-45-pfn_list_corrupt-windows http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/d1f74f02-b38a-48c9-99a5-e72c4c9e1ddc/pfnlistcorrupt Here is some further info - http://www.reviversoft.com/blog/2013/09/pfn-list-corrupt/ Could it be that Error#1 led to Error#2, which it seems so. I'd have installed only one at a time, ran with it for a while to confirm viability, then the next one, and so on. Paricularly I would have done the IE8 one first, then the XP one, then the NT ones lowest version to highest version. HTH (no, I haven't tried them yet but will eventually)
