trying to use Tualatin 1.4ghz for Nas4Free.. unable to boot usb?
submix8c replied to supernova777's topic in Hardware Hangout
Hmmm... a "super floppy" Zip-250? http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/152097-on-superfloppies-and-their-images/ -
Not sure about Vista RTM, but it's valid for VistaSP1 and up (incl Win7). It -appears- to be there, though (WUSA). http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934307 It -also- appears that (older?) DISM doesn't work with Vista SP1. Here's a reference to the Win7 DISM http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/153926-is-dism-win-7-only/ I can only speak (definitely) for the ones found on my Win7ProSP1. HTH (and still looking) edits (for info, re DISM) - http://www.msigeek.com/343/introduction-to-dism-deployment-image-servicing-and-management PKGMGR for Vista. (sigh...) More info. http://www.networksteve.com/forum/topic.php/Does_no_one_else_want_to_use_dism_to_install_SP2_to_an_offline_s/?TopicId=9706&Posts=0 Please witness the problems of Integration on Vista re: vLite and how vLite has heartburn with Win7. Hence, the Vista "DeIntegration" methods for VistaSP1 (pre-integrated) WIM's. Hmmm.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Imaging_Format Also - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744256%28v=WS.10%29.aspx So, it -appears- that DISM is an additional install (?) for Vista (any release)? Ref also WAIK Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Automated_Installation_Kit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ImageX Win7-and-up, apparently, but works w/Vista SP1 (MS pre-integrated?) with limitations, as told in the links.

trying to use Tualatin 1.4ghz for Nas4Free.. unable to boot usb?
submix8c replied to supernova777's topic in Hardware Hangout
Iffy - FWIW the "AX3S Pro" had an update in 2002 supporting boot USB devices, so maybe a "mod" might work... Be aware that you may want to FIRST update to YOUR latest BIOS -and- modding the BIOS could brick the board. Be SURE you have a good backup of the BIOS after the FIRST Flash Upgrade. Using a Floppy -directly- to update BIOS is REAL dangerous -if- your FloppyDrive -or- the Floppy have any problems. I would suggest -first- updating the BIOS, then try a Bootable USB Flash set up with WinSetupFromUSB and maybe basic DOS (from maybe 98SE - see bootdisksDOTcom) and just test the Boot (off-insert-on, see if it "shows"). HTH edit - FYI same BIOS files here - ftp://usa.aopen.com/pub/bios/ax3su/ Cross-Flashing (with the Pro BIOS) to get that will more than likely create a doorstop. Don't! -
trying to use Tualatin 1.4ghz for Nas4Free.. unable to boot usb?

Specs (at least) - http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/motherboards_d/AOpen/AX3S-U/ Manual http://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/Archive/Aopen/manuals/ax3spu/Ax3spu-ol-e.pdfNo info on Boot Devices. edit - Go here and in PullDown select your MoBo - http://asia.aopen.com/products_download.aspx?auno=2973 There appears to be a BIOS dated Jan 6 of 2003 as well. More "specs" here (wouldn't advise getting the BIOS from here - use AOPEN link) - http://www.driverszone.eu/download-bios/aopen/aopen-ax3s-u-r1-12-bios_6895.html BTW, you -are- aware that the USB Stick has to be inserted BEFORE Machine Boot for it to be "seen", right? IOW, turn it OFF, insert USB, turn it ON, then go into BIOS to select it. HTH -
Ummmm, NO! You can't install it that way (NOT a HotFix). Create a CMD with this "stuff" in it and put the execution of the CMD inside CMDLINES.TXT (within the $OEM$ folder). Here's the reference ("find" on string "tweak" in the following link) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/59197-my-batch-silent-installation-of-software/ -OR- this - tweakuipowertoysetup.exe /S /v/qn -OR- look at this reference (also "find" on "tweak") - http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/112683-unattended-help/ HTH P.S. Simple Google on "tweakuipowertoysetup.exe silent" (without quotes)

Hmmm.... appears that the OP doesn't want to do what nitroshift suggested. Force Uninstall - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/e3ea77ea-36b4-4e53-9c8a-f79a78e3779b/how-to-force-internet-explorer-11-reinstallation-after-failure-detection-issue?forum=ieitprocurrentver BTW, IE11 is not a "Feature", it's an Update. You're looking in the wrong place. Try looking for the Install here - http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/09/getting-rid-of-internet-explorer-11-in-windows-7-8-and-8-1/ HTH

This is your problem right here (I REPEAT!) YOU, sir are "hung up". I have -also- stated (pretty sure) that you should use nLite to see what it changes. http://obysyam.blogspot.com/2010/03/customize-windows-step-by-step-via.html If you do a "find" (in the above link) on string "Classic Control Panel" you'll find the setting that I -assume- is for All Users/Default(?). Also, you will "find" by using "Control Panel" there's ANOTHER setting called "Start Menu-Control Panel-Display as a menu" which is EXACTLY what you want. BTW, in case you didn't notice within the "Documents and Settings" folder there is a folde called (OMG!) DEFAULT and THAT is where a "New User" gets his Profile Info from ON FIRST LOGON to the New User. Now, if you just TRY using nLite JUST ONCE and set ONLY that, then you'll know EXACTLY how the "Classic" gets set by checking the CHANGED files, in which case you do the EXACT SAME THING. Please don't be so stubborn. TRY it (nLite) and make corresponding changes post-HFSLIP (since you insist on using it) accordingly. HTH
-
JayMan, if you found the Archive, you would have found this - http://mimo.zxq.net/hfslip-downloads.htm Now you know the difference between J10 and J11. I will -assume- that since the date of the "HFSLIP_ia.7z" is -newer- than "hfslip-1.7.10_beta_J_v11" that it -might- be experimental. I really have no clue why you insist on using obsolete/experimental stuff. But... it's your option. HTH edit - Reference is here for USP5.2 - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/156521-unofficial-sp-52-for-microsoft-windows-2000/

trying to use Tualatin 1.4ghz for Nas4Free.. unable to boot usb?
submix8c replied to supernova777's topic in Hardware Hangout
PLOP? (google that...) This suggest putting in XP (and up) Boot - http://www.hacktohell.org/2010/11/booting-from-usb-without-bios-support.html However, you could use Grub4DOS instead (installed in MBR). Doubting that it will boot from USB. UNLESS you can find a stick that -appears- as if it's a HDD (I have ONE of those, Lexar-based) that "cheats" the BIOS into seeing External USB HDD. It -might- be accomplished by using WinSetupFromUSB utility (makes it "bootable"). Doubting, however that it would. HTH -
wpiw.net is soon going to be closed
submix8c replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
Can you find a free one somewhere? Mirroring it right now for posterity (using httrack, suggested by jaclaz). Some files wind up incorrectly/failing-to download (end in filetype ".TMP") and have to be individually downloaded afterward. If I (anyone) had a server up-and-running all the time I would "host" you, but I find that to be infeasible/unfeasible (whatever). All you would need would be a NO-IP Domain Name. FWIW, TmEE has a website (afaik). Maybe request a sub-folder? ...And I "feel for you". Life throws curveballs all the time. Thx for heads up. edit - Mirror completed except for - This is missing - http://www.wpiw.net/downloads/WPI_Versions.7z (approx. 25-26mb) -
FYI - 2K3 listed here - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171816-its-patch-tuesday-you-know-what-that-means/#entry1080095 Seems we have "somewhat replicated" topics. HTH

OK... May I say -one- -more- -time- that Classic View has to be set at the time the UserID is... -CREATED- and... THEN the "special folders" can be copied -NOT BEFORE-. That is the EXACT reason for saying -USE DEFAULT PROFILE-. Yous SEEM to be unaware that the Profile Files/Folders/HIVES do NOT get created -until- First Logon and all -OTHER- Profiles are built during -SETUP- so you can NOT just "copy" them any old time you wish. They MUST be created/set during SYSTEM INSTALL! USE DEFAULT PROFILE!!! ALTER THE INF FILES ACCORDINGLY!!! Classic View does NOT exist in Windows 2000 AT ALL, since ONLY Classic View exists! It is NOT the FileSet but your METHOD that does not work! PERIOD! Is that clear enough? P.S. - I have absolutely NO desire to make the mods. I have no use for them. Pursue your "problem" from the "angle" suggested. I have -not- looked at nLite for "use classic view" but I will BET that it will show which INF files get modified (IF IT DOES THAT)! Please stop being SO darn stubborn to place the fault on the FDV Fileset (which Fred does NOT care about any longer!). Addendum - apparently nLlite DOES have that option. Investigate THAT and mod YOU stuff accordingly. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/121985-help-needed-regarding-classic-control-center/ Simple - run nLite against your source and CHOOSE THAT ONLY then see what changed. -DONE DONE DONE- I suggest you open your OWN topic for help regarding this "option" as you're saying it (FDV set) "fails" when it DOES NOT. (wow...) HTH

Auto-Patcher For Windows 98se (English)
submix8c replied to soporific's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Nuh-uh, dude. Those are good links. I have the "originals" from the Soporific (defunct) website and they binary compare exactly. Try a resumable downloader (e.g. FlashGet) because your downloads must be screwed up -or- you've got a bad index on your HDD. How, exactly, did you download (do NOT use IE "save as" because it DOES fail), on what OS, on what size HDD/Partition? P.S. this is an ENGLISH package. FWIW, there's also a 98SE SP3 here as well http://www.htasoft.com/u98sesp/ Topic (wonderfully long) here - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/61749-98-se-sp-332/ And do read the "stickies" for any special things you may need to do depending on your (newer) hardware (limitations), e.g. RAM, HDD size, SATA, etc. HTH -
Sorry, but that didn't answer the first question I asked. It also didn't say whether you used the other two programs I suggested. Please give more details, e.g. did/does the PREVIOUS version work? http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jonathan.deboynepollard/FGA/put-down-the-chocolate-covered-banana.html You're initial post only said Does it even RUN and it just can't go to a WWW url? Elaboration does wonders. BTW, did you google ie 11 problemsbecause MS has several articles of items to try, including "Compatibility Mode". Have you tried ANY of those (because you didn't say). Doe ALL websites "not show" - SYMPTOMS, man, SYMPTOMS! I'm reluctant to upgrade my Win7 w/IE11 untill you've shown that you have indeed tried everything. LIST them, please, not "etc etc". Thank you and I will attempt to help once you've provided details.

HAHAHAHAH! (not!) Perhaps just target Code Pink, right? Forget TBS, I just want Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, Deputy Dawg, Flinststones, Jetsons, and Quick Draw McGraw back. ROTS, you sure are a bitter and opinionated person, arent you? Need a hug? (heh...) -
Maybe a rogue ActiveX within IE11? You've installed BOTH x86 -and- x64 versions (if your Win7 is x64)? Try using (e.g.) MalwareBytes and SpyBot against your installation. Something is not right! HTH

You should change the link in the first post to the following (the actual post for the Beta2) http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=137319#137319 Also, anyone going there should read the next couple of posts following that one. HTH

Alternative to UniExtract (nope, never tried it on this type "update" package). Place this (as a CMD or BAT) in the folder with the EXE in question Since you've gotten the "alternate" filename (apparently from the Catalog) you may want to strip that extra portion of the filename off. This is what you get when you use the files from -X- UDC script from http://xdot.tk/ - * WindowsXP-KB2115168-x86-ENU.exe See all those extra characters in yours? I say that because (if you noticed) you will get a looooong FolderName under folder "extract" within whatever folder you initially place the files and the above CMD. Reference your question here - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171992-more-than-one-file-for-the-exact-same-update/ Now, i'm sure jaclaz will/may refine the above. Fine by me and feel free! And as dencorso said, there's no other way to "see" the contents. HTH

Um, egrabrych, you should read further from that post. It was a Symantec module -and- the Update program was further modded. Do read the WHOLE thread before raising issues that no longer exist. edit - in addition, might I recommend that the 1.1, then 2.0, then 4.0 be installed in that order, -providing- you have those dotNet versions installed. Insufficient information. We will need the MotherBoard and/or the Make+Model of the notebook. It would also help if we knew EXACTLY what the "ven/dev" values are. This may or may not help in the meantime - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/97588-modern-motherboards-which-are-working-with-windows-98/?p=695463 edit - this may help even more, also tells where to get ven/dev info (and gotcha's) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/158239-installing-98se-on-emachines-w3629/

Get Windows XP x86 to recognize more than 4Gb with PAE?
submix8c replied to AnX's topic in Windows XP
The answer to this ...is although "some" will restrict even though it will work -after- a little nudge, e.g. change an MSI or extract and use stand-alone, or a "hack". I used a couple of "hacked" modules from one of these POSReady2009 modded updates and test-installed MediaPlayer11 for XP and it WORKS after modding the INF's! http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171814-posready-2009-updates-ported-to-windows-xp-sp3-enu/ This was on a test-install of Server2k3. I also copied the XP MovieMaker folder and the shortcut (set it to XP Compat Mode) and it also works. Be informed that I'm not prepared to show what I did in this thread (since it's off-topic). Just giving FYI and some info. HTH -
