http://www.paragon-software.com/technologies/components/gpt-loader/ According to this, it should work with 2.2+tb on XP 32-bit. You DID install the whole shebang, right? What is the model of your external enclosures?

MS Virtual PC 2007 uses "known to XP" drivers but is limited in the way of hardware - No USB, Specific Hardware (no way to change e.g. Audio Device). I can't recommend to you which Virtual Machine software to use. No matter what, this will NOT prove whether your drivers integrated properly. You can, however, look in the nLited Target Directory and/or the created ISO and see if you have a folder named "NLDRV" inside the "I386" folder. These will be your drivers you integrated. Inspect the contents to confirm that the are the same as what was in the original folders. nLite copies them into it then sets up several other INF files in the I386 folder to allow them to be "found" during Install. Look here for a couple of Tips on "Integration Failure". Possibly, add the non-Dated ones last. First, select ALL non-Add-Ons (i.e. all that have EXE suffix) and IF you are integrating IE8, do NOT add those yet (or just find them and remove them, SORT the set in the nLite window, then ADD individually IE8 and THEN the IE8 Hotfixes (one by one), THEN add ALL of the Add-Ons (non-EXE suffixes). DO NOT RESORT AFTER THE FIRST SORT! This method works very well for me. As for Italian-specific Hotfixes, I don't really know. I can tell you that many/most are "language neutral" and still use the ENU version (but are NOT ENU-specific, rather "language neutral"). Unless someone else has a "list" the easiest way is to go to each individual KB in the list, change to "Italian" and see if it offers a non-ENU file, cancel the download if it does, and copy/save the link given in that screen. This is the link that would need to be replaced in the UDC file (which is specifically for English XP). HTH edit - google search "OnePiece Windows XP Post-SP3 AggiornatoPack" - good luck on that! Latest version WAS (AFAIK) ... v5.7.0 (11 Aprile 2012)

How to add WPI to a Windows CD\DVD!
submix8c replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
This is fine unless it's on ANY accessible drive with WPI.EXE in the EXACT position/folder. Better to find a VERY unique filename first then hard-set the Path... UBCD98SE (don't bother looking for it) used a VBS to find "Ready" CD-ROM types (ONLY) to ensure that it was a (obviously) Ready CD-ROM...AND...the File in question existed. Just my $.02... -
...then I'll venture to say that the WGET's must be failing "occasionally"... See links given above for how to check. Maybe "START /W" would help (in addition to "errorlevel")??? Too many retries would case a severe loop... No WAY should a simple "loop" as proposed by tomasz86 should be used - witness the effects of "-nc" as used... edit - NINE "guest" viewing this? NOTICE TO ANY/ALL!!! (just an FYI) This is NOT a "permanent solution" but an "exercise"... MS will OBVIOUSLY give a NEW version when they are ready - Windows 8 is JUST AROUND THE CORNER and as already stated, the last OFFICIAL package is not necessarily intended for anything but Windows 7 SP1 (maybe Windows 2008 R2) for a "particular problem" but DOES WORK ATM. Current v226 is the Official XP/2K3/Vista/Win7RTM AFAIK. (sheesh! hot topic for guests?) SUS vs WSUS. This Exercise is based on WSUS information and tested against AU turned OFF (neither case)!!! Google "WUIDENT.CAB"... there's a TEXT file inside it (and you get it when you go to WU)... There's a lot more to WU than just these files in question... (and they download WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE!).

cisco modem/router password issues
submix8c replied to timgerjit's topic in Networks and the Internet
NUH-UHHH!!! No way! Try shutting down your PC, Disconnect the NIC cable PC->Router, Unplug the Router, Plug it back in, Reconnect the NIC cable, restart the PC. Rerun (in a CMD prompt, NOT in "Run" box!) "ipconfig /all". The DHCP Server SHOULD be your Router! Do you have ANYTHING connect "in between"? ONLY use PC->Cisco - nothing else... NO WAY is that correct! edit - see jaclaz' post - apparently you didn't give all info... -
Will try AGAIN without ANY "paren's"... Guess this should be a warning for using your script or my script... "Folder names may NOT contain any parenthesis"... (previous post before I seen your post...) "Failure is NOT an option..." - APOLLO 13 edit - and I DID add a "Pre-Cleanup" :: ADDED due to occassional FAILED WGET's if exist *.cab* del *.cab*Still doesn't tell whether a "failure" occurred during "build"... @#$%^& More error-checking needed for at least that... edit2 - how about that! I removed the "(2)" also - worked! ("Pre-cleanup" command unnecessary?)... Still - "failure checks" should be put into BOTH scripts, IMHO... Otherwise, folks may be... Will fool with mine... l8tr!!! G-kids have been rattling cages... And STILL need to complete my "craigslist" project (need $). BTW, apparently a LIST file can be sent to WGET to ease the burden - BUT how would you error-check individual files? (sigh...)
-
Well, yeah... but I have also been looking at the WGET docs and ERRORLEVEL info. The WGET -nc Option is used and appears to indicate This presents a problem in and of itself for ANY of the WGET failures. Please note that "Retries" (for accessing said file) is "default=20" according to the docs.So... some sort of "loop" construct would have to be made that would NOT allow continuous looping or "give up - I am a failure - try later...". Also note that the "Pre-Cleanup" routine is NOT deleting "*.CAB". Guess it should for insurance... OR check for a GOOD download instance and if Rerun is necessary (for any given file download failure) the Bypass WGET (go to next one). This will be cumbersome!!!

Uh-oh!!! MS caught on? I seen several "guests" logged in for a while. Maybe one of our new members (MS "reps") reported it. OR... it's an "occasional" thing?I just reran it (12:51 EDT) preceding the "reupload" and it worked fine? edit - "Could not find..." has to do with UNDEPENDABLE download of PARTCOPY (it creates it)!!! ??? Just reran it (using your folder names) - appears that one did NOT download! wuapi_fr.cab??? (compared the "built" to ricktendo64's) AND... it's now there (manually in browser)??? WHAT is going on??? Hmm... limit the number of file/folder accesses ? 7 guests are viewing this!!! Has a EULA been broken? The Downloads are directly from MS... AND... the CARBARC is from a CAB that does NOT require "Genuine Check". I specifically looked for one... Odd - the OTHER WUA packages are "free to download" as well... Is this a "You distributed WSUS info" thing? (paranoia is striking...) This is the EXACT SAME SERVER that they all come from too...

I'm not really sure why turning it back "on" didn't work... http://donal-rogers.blogspot.com/2011/11/ntfs-longshort-file-names.html Basically, this is the reason I said this must be done StandAlone in its own folder (guess PARTCOPY needs to be checked - DOS-mode 16-bit? If so, this MIGHT be a problem on Vista/7/2K8). To put it in your script it must be done FIRST to prevent "collisions" in the remainder. MS - Disable the Option. Nonetheless, I will change the CMD to rename the download to WUAEXE.EXE (naming consistency). edit - BUGGERS!!! Blanks in names cause problems using... for %%F in ("%~dp0*.cab") do 7za x %%F -o"%~dp0WUCAB" * -r -y Changed to ... for %%F in ("%~dp0*.cab") do 7za x "%%F" -o"%~dp0WUCAB" * -r -y !!! The rationale (correct or not) for using the DP0 variable was to ensure Full Path consistency. edit2 - 16-bit (source) Kind of presents a problem for these OS's (especially since downloading PARTCOPY on-the-fly)...Workaround (DUH!!!!)edit2a - found split32. also has a license agreement. a tip for iterations. edit2b - swissfileknfe (sourceforge) Will re-upload shortly... Fixed! See previous attachment...
-
OUCH!!!! Just tried on an NTFS Partition... That's the problem (NO "short names")!!! Will correct above attachment and re-upload... edit - How Odd!!! I was wrong! I put a PAUSE immediately after "split" and the SFX is there! Are you by chance running it from CMD-prompt or renamed it to BAT? I double-click it. Works on both FAT32 and NTFS (with blank in folder name)... edit2 - Nope... I am SOOO confused - on NTFS Partition, named BAT I get THIS - Extracting WUSFX.SFX... (for later "join") U:\!! TEST>partcopy Window~1.exe 0 8A00 WUSFX.SFX U:\!!TEST~1>pause.Same result as CMD... edit3 - PARTCOPY.EXE (wayback) Good luck with that (2001, program is 1999)!XVI32.EXE (link)

??? Is this one of those "oddball" HP Combo types? Best bet is to REMOVE the Card and get FCCID/Chips-Id's to determine exactly WHAT it is... Note that the HP "oddball" is a specialized OEM NIC/Modem "combo" - the NIC part of it is USELESS as it ONLY works with a Home Network via Phone Lines IF (and ONLY if) OTHER PC's have the EXACT SAME CARD!!! note - also found in Gateway - http://support.gateway.com/s/MODEM/6001761/6001761nv.shtml http://support.gateway.com/s/MODEM/6001761/600176101.shtml Go to first link and take a look at the Chips Pictures links within. See if they look like yours.

Multiple VGA Drivers - They must be added from SEPARATE folders because OVERLAY of an INCORRECT version of SAME NAME can occur. Screen Resolution - You should ALSO include a MONITOR Driver - THIS is what tells the VGA Driver what the "Monitor Connected To It" is able to do.

1 - CMD file corrected as per "!!!" boo-boo (should have had ":: " in front of). There are a number of notes... 2 - Additional link added for "pcopy02.zip". That was the reason for NOT deleting that (and another) ZIP file... 3 - The link I gave to 7-zip was directly from this... As noted it "redirects" in EITHER case. I just used said link again and it auto-"passes" to your link.4 - -X- apparently had a problem with it "working" (unsure why) so I just re-tested as both CMD and BAT - works the same in both cases. Please note - 1 - Download/Unzip the CMD to a folder 2 - Download/Unzip 7ZA.EXE from 7za920.zip (use links given - wherever...) to the same folder 3 - Download WGET.EXE (this AFAIK is the only/LATEST Windows version) to the same folder 4 - Run it... --- additional notes a - You MIGHT want to manually download "pcopy02.zip" from any of the THREE links given inside CMD, as I already noted there that the Original Web Archive occasionally FAILS, and (apparently) so does the other one I used. This is the reason I DO NOT DELETE the ZIP file. b - You MIGHT want to do the same with the "XVI32.ZIP" just in case there is a problem with getting it... Same reason for NOT deleting THAT "ZIP" file. c - other files we HOPE will always be available as they come from MS Servers. ------- Feel free to alter the CMD for said potential Failures (IF EXIST=NO then Try Next WGET Link). Everything you need to know is in the Comments. One might consider this a Collaborative Effort - I just created the CMD file (after trial-and-error "been a while")... As noted, THEORETICALLY the FOUR files (7ZA.EXE, WGET.EXE, PARTCOPY.EXE, XVI32.EXE) could be included in the "Package" - I left that up to the End User (attached ZIP is smaller)... ------- edit - and apologies for getting SUPPORT.CAB to obtain CABARC.EXE - the reason for using it instead is noted inside the CMD... edit2 - ARG!!! The following line ECHO REM change x20 to x60 for wusetup.exe>"%~dp0WUCAB.XSC" Is also a boo-boo... REMOVE the "ECHO"!!! (or just ignore it...) ------- Corrected CMD attached here... Corrected CORRECTED (Important! see below comments) attached here... WUAv256.zip

Look at the links I gave... You don't integrate Driver EXE files... you integrate INF's from the Extracted EXE files... Files/Folders Contents for ANY GIVEN XP cd should ALL be the same Date/Time unless specifically change by an OEM...

1 - You can't nLite an nLited Source. Won't work. It MUST be a "Clean CD".2 - See this and this. 3 - WAREZ!

Windows Update Agent v256 (x86) Download and Build... This CMD file (almost) replicates ricktendo64's package. The main difference is that this one uses the Original v243's SFX and the files in the CABS will be in a different order. Open/Edit the CMD and browse around inside. Yes, it takes a couple of minutes to run since it downloads individual files and manipulates them. :: Method of BAT/CMD courtesy of -X- (http://xdot.tk/updates.html) :: WUA files info courtesy of ricktendo64 and 5eraph :: SFX and XVI32 info courtesy of WildBill :: PARTCOPY info courtesy of jaclaz and dencorso :: The following Programs are necessary: :: WGET.EXE: :: MUST MANUALLY DOWNLOAD AND PUT IN FOLDER! :: http://users.ugent.be/~bpuype/wget/wget.exe (Windows v1.11.4 - direct link) :: 7ZA.EXE: : MUST MANUALLY DOWNLOAD AND PUT IN FOLDER! :: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7za920.zip (Redirected to download) :: Note: there are direct links, but we use OFFICIAL download.. :: CABARC.EXE: :: Downloaded from MS (2K3SP2 SUPPORT.CAB) :: The EXE is extracted ONCE and SUPPORT.CAB is Deleted. :: Syntax: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc728406(v=ws.10) :: PARTCOPY.EXE: :: SEE ORIGINAL DOWNLOAD LINK (MAY FAIL due to WebArchive - Alternate found) : The Package is Downloaded ONCE and EXE Extracted :: XVI32.EXE: :: The Package is Downloaded ONCE and EXE Extracted See attached... edit - Link deleted - See Post#67...

You could open the PC case, remove the Card, and find the FCCID numbers. In addition, the black Chip has some numbers that help identify it. Does it have a yellow Question Mark next to it?

New to unattended windows creation
submix8c replied to O0o0O0O0o's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Attach your "Last Session.ini" if using nLite. It appears that MAYBE you are making the same mistake that many make when integrating HotFixes.... In the "Add Hotfixes" part, the List is presented when you add them. At the Top of the List, you need to Sort them by Date Ascending. Also a VERY important question... Is this a Non-English XP Source? If so, you may need the Language Files for the language it's in... (don't remember if you said...) -
REMOVE "LAST SESSION_U.INI"!!! NoNo!!! SERIOUSLY (look inside it)!!! NOW!!!Checking contents of the other one (leave it)... other members may appear to assist... edit - Download count was TWO!!! that was me (by mistake)... Hope nobody else got it... edit2 - It appears that MAYBE you are making the same mistake that many make when integrating HotFixes.... As far as your "test" in "Virtual Box" (or even "MS-Virtual PC"), your Drivers will be probably be different than what's integrated. I personally have never used "Virtual Box" BUT... see this for example Audio Settings. There is also (below that) a link to "Virtual Networking". You would need Drivers compatible with "Virtual Box" added to your ISO as well if you want to use that Virtual Software.

Not sure how Win7 works (have yet to test-install it), but on XP you could Disable System Restore entirely, reboot, Enable System Restore and the Restore Points would be gone (a single new one is created). http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405 This disables it on all drives, not just selected ones. Is there a "Disk Cleanup" utility? HTH

http://money.cnn.com/2012/06/18/technology/microsoft-windows-tablet/index.htm Tablet PC calling it "Surface"... Yep, they're catering to non-Desktops to sell their "new" hardware with Windows 8... Isn't it cute? Kind of confirms what's been discussed all along, doesn't it? Feel warm and fuzzy yet?
-
Yes! From the very top of this page... Whether you "remove components or not" is irrelevant - we still need to see what you did... Some Components can't be removed and then expect Hot-fixes to integrate into "something you removed"...Ummm... were you running a Real-Time Anti-Virus Software during the nLite run? NEVER do that as the A-V Software MIGHT interrupt execution. Temporarily turn it off or "exclude" the nLite folder... Those should have slipped AND I have no clue as to the reason why Drivers didn't integrate (mine do). Attach that INI file...

No, but they DID say "You need to do such-and-such..." Did you follow ALL steps?
