  1. have you tried the tool FxxkMetro from PCBeta?
  2. yeah, the CCC is coded in .Net and loading those programs at startup is slow. You should still consider using a SSD.
  3. capture a boot trace of the second system.
  4. look into the Debug.log, search for errors and post them here.
  5. boot into the repair options (DVD) and run this command to undo all pending operations: DISM /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
  6. your slow HDD is the cause and busiy for over 70s:
  7. the answer I got was, that is a known issue when the hibernation file is too heavily fragmented.
  8. ok, got an answer from Microsoft. The cpu usage is caused when the hibernation file is fragmented too much. Run powercfg -h offto disable the hibernation file, defrag your system drive and enable hibernation file again with powercfg -h onIs boot now faster?

  10. I doubt that it will work with 8.1. You can kill Metro by killing the Thread windows.immersiveshell.serviceprovider.dll!CImmersiveShellController::s_ImmersiveShellComponentsThreadProc of Explorer.exe. there was a tool posted called fxxkmetro was does this for you: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwDEya-Sbly3ZkZaUm9FUjJ6YUE/edit I have no idea if it works in 8.1
  11. no, it still loads "Metro". Several parts are now "metro" (connect to network) and they don't work when you kill "metro".
  12. the high CPU usage of the SYSTEM/Kernel and smss.exe during boot comes from fvevol.sys!FveRangeListSet. This driver is Bitlocker. Do you use Bitlocker? The system tries to init the crash dump mechanism and th bitlocker driver causes the delay. Put the crashdumps to a drive which his not encrypted.
  13. you have a high CPU usage. You need to run this command to capture the CPU usage: xbootmgr -trace boot -traceFlags BASE+LATENCY+DISPATCHER+FILE_IO+FILENAME+POWER -stackwalk profile+CSwitch+ReadyThread -resultPath C:\TEMPAnd please, compress the file as 7z/RAR/zip to reduce the size!!!!!!!
  14. Is there a way to increase the ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers limit?
  15. I need the ETL file, otherwise I can't see the cause.
  16. the values are -1 if you stopped the trace too early. PreSMSS is stating all boot relevant drivers. In your case this is slow: <pnpObject name="PCI\VEN_8086+DEV_1E03+SUBSYS_C652144D+REV_04\3+11583659+0+FA" type="Device" activity="Start" startTime="217" endTime="90419" duration="90202" prePendTime="90202"/>VEN_8086+DEV_1E03 = Intel SATA controller. Update the driver, please.
  17. Install the Enterprise Hotfix Rollup which includes ReadyBoot fixes: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2775511/en-us
  18. this issues always happen because of the old XP rendering. Activate Aero Glass to remove this.
  19. is the service running? upload the complete xbootmgr.log
  20. MS confirms that Metro was designed for casual users: Windows 8 UX designer on Metro: "It is the antithesis of a power user" http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-8-ux-designer-on-metro-it-is-the-antithesis-of-a-power-user :realmad: :thumbdown
  21. have you disabled the Superfetch service?
