Tested Local Account / Cloud Integration, UAC On / Off
Kelsenellenelvian replied to NoelC's topic in Windows 10
Here are the screens. I could not find a way through without entering them. This screen grab sequence illustrates... The weird thing is that after having gone through all of the above, the system rebooted and I had to go through some parts of the install again where it asked for not only my Microsoft account info, but also had me enter local account info. Once the dust settled from THAT, and the system finished installing, amazingly, I'm logged in with local account info - which was my intent all along. Microsoft has published that we should not expect to see big things in the remaining builds, but rather should expect stabilization and tidying up (no surprise with a summer release approaching). However... I don't sense a lot of tidying up in this! -Noel Just remember we are the "paranoid, conspiracy nuts" -
Ha, and I'm a conspiracy nut...

Windows 10 built-in advertising discussion
Kelsenellenelvian replied to dhjohns's topic in Windows 10
Look at that last paragraph they have "OnlineAdUrl" there are many more references all over the net about the MS version of the app store, cortana, the cloud and MS phasing out the local account features. It is already nearly impossible to install windows 10 without a live internet connection and a ms live account. There is a lot of hinky crap going on. And they haven't been showing a good track record of listening to the consumers or caring about us at all. I cannot find any official docs on the ad theory. Just alot of under the table BS. -
Windows 10 built-in advertising discussion

No, not a fool but you are being kinda rude. Look here at this article. Microsoft is installing an update on Windows 7 and 8 machines which will push users to upgrade toWindows 10. The update – KB 3035583 – is vague about its purpose. The official description states: This update enables additional capabilities for Windows Update notifications when new updates are available to the user. It applies to a computer that is running Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1). But what are those "additional capabilities"? Installing the update – which is marked as "Recommended" – on a machine running Windows 8.1 leads to the creation of four new folders in the Windows\WinSxS folder, prefixed "amd64_microsoft_windows_gwx". The description of one of the files installed – GWXUXWorker.exe – is "Get Windows 10". Windows update to Get Windows 10 Another file of interest is config.xml. This has sections for various phases, starting at <Phase name="None"> and continuing through AnticipationUX, Reservation, Reserved, RTM, GA, various Upgrade phases, and, finally, UpgradeSetupFailed. There is also a reference to an OnlineAdUrl, presumably a page hyping the benefits of Windows 10, though this is currently a dead link. The update appears to be intended to advertise Windows 10 and push the user towards consenting to download and install it. -

We already know win 10 will be ad driven that's been assured it's not conspiracy whats so funny about that? You don't think they'll use demographics to target you? -

So you think identity theft is a non-issue, or that it could never happen to you? I wonder what difference in your thinking you'll have after it happens. -Noel I wonder what he'll say about win 10 being ad driven and all of a sudden being shown ads related to his web searches and game choices? -
The second my win 7 pc boots up as win 10 I will take my tower and club the nearest MS programmer with it. Think of the thousands of people that all of a sudden find the new upgrade they are freely given and what they do when they no longer have things like DVD playback or any of the other things that were removed from win 8 on...

Did You Get Windows Update KB3035583 Recently

So far those two systems still got and finished other updates after hiding the offensive update but we'll see how long that lasts. We might end up having to make dummy files to replace the official ones with. -

Windows 10 "Now with a free installation of adware".... So does anyone have the syntax for a reg file disabling this so it will never install? I want to add it to my installation routines. I don't want anyone's pc I work on to ever see this. -
