  1. for backing up simple data/programs with the option to save its own registry entries...I go with Genie...for complete HDD or Partition I use True Image Server...I use to be a fan of Ghost...which in my opinion Ghost 2003 was the best of all of them...before they screwed it up with Drive Image Software.
  2. rings a warez bell with RC1/2 hack..thus the watermark...as said...True RTM has no watermark. FYI..the fix for the 32bit version has to do with the user32.dll.mui
  3. You shouldn't "believe" it is, you should make sure if there's even a possibility of a doubt. Run your hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics on the drives to be sure, then you can say "I KNOW my hard drive is fine.". That's not entirely true. A dying hard drive CAN cause corrupting of a partition, boot sector, windows system files, etc... In fact, quoted from the very page you link to: Which can occur as a result of a defective or dying hard drive.lol..(I stand corrected)true but seldom..thats like also adding 'result of a car crashing into your house and hitting the computer' but from the details of the post...it was due to an installation that went south.
  4. You should starting looking at a new hard drive. Good idea to be doing those backups someone has really mis-informed you..if you think NTLDR is due to a 'Hard Drive' going bad...maybe a IDE Cable....(very unlikely)...but has to due with Corruption or Booting http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.htm
  5. that's the anwser reprogram the firmware. do u think reprograming the firmware is pssible? I really don't understand your reasoning behind this...just for a few 'sectors' that probably don't even add up to a few mbs...if your that in need for 'space'...just purchase a bigger drive...LOL...think about this...lets say you do 'hack' the firmware and you do lose a sector...your drive will not be able to 'replace' them and let you continue..but you will be forced to 'low level' format then and start your OS over again...expecially if your lose your first sectors (boot sectors).
  6. yes there is a limit...what your referring to is the Drive Manufacture always includes some 'spare sectors' to replace bad sectors...you can't see them..only time you will see them is when you get a 'warning' that your drive is failing and you've used up them 'spare sectors'...its called 'Smart Drive'
  7. one of the first places to look..is to make sure you don't have a floppy inserted...also this could be results of a bad IDE connection or a 'bad sector' created from the BSOD on the uninstallation of PSP...might try and boot with the DVD and use the system recovery console and scan for bad clusters. here are some links from a goggle search that might help http://www.google.com/search?q=DISK+BOOT+F...AND+PRESS+ENTER
  8. NTFS Partition is the only solution...Fat 32 is limited to 4GB.
  9. re-installing Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is to click on Start, Run... and type in: regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll
  10. http://www.google.com/search?q=superfetch
  11. I've always wondered how a normal user ends up legally using such an expensive OS when XP is cheaper and more than capable of being your main OS. more likely a student getting an education supposely paid by mom and dad...but actually robbing the college blind of software and playing video games and listening to rap music.
  12. Alot of services are dependant on others....for example you might have 3 enabled and will get a popup that they can't start because of one that is disabled....you will have right click on a Service Properties then check the tab 'dependencies'...though Nlite is a good tools for some..its a nightmare for many.
  13. alot of DVD Players have 'region' free firmware...my Lite-On and BenQ have them....also some DVD Player Software can be found with 'region' free options.
  14. it would be nice..if there was a column to referance what KB it was for...however there isn't one..so its like finding a needle in a haystack...other than having the date and lauguage of the file. Windows 2003 Server x86 English rj66 2006-10-14 windows-2003-server-x86-enu.ulz
  15. could be the bearings in the chipset fan are going bad...and causing it to overheat...is it a chipset on a video card, motherboard or what...also most bio's will let you check the 'temperture' once you boot into bios.
  16. O&O Defrag is the best....the new or any version of Diskeeper is slower than my grandmother...and she's been dead for 30 years.
  17. check this page out..it shows WMP 10 for x64 XP Pro http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...r/versions.aspx http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...10/default.aspx
  18. if you want to undo a reg file's entry...just add a - like this example: [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile] "NeverShowExt"=0
  19. well you could provide more information about what the popup actually is...names,sites or snapshot....chances are its loading via the 'run' or 'runonce'...even some dll files will load when you open IE...might google search for a program called 'hijackthis' also.
  20. another reason why it doesn't just slipstream so easy..is because R2 requires a different 'key' from that of Server....thus you have to install your edition of server with its key..then update to R2 with another key.
  21. yeah..check your bio's for 'detect legacy devices'
  22. I just used the patch uxtheme.dll for build 1830 and works just fine...here is the file..just follow the instructions in the 'readme' text.
  23. does it show up in the 'bios' during boot...if so..then your problem is you have to make it active in windows 'device manager' (Computer Management/Disk Management)
  24. be patience and save a blank disc....its RC1.....
