  1. That's all fine and dandy. I'll worry about that. I'm wondering how to find out which version of Windows he has. What I'd really like to do is browse his registry ... but I can't figure out how to edit the permissions for Regedt32 so I can do that. I tried rebooting and starting in Safe-Mode as Administrator, but to no avail. I once had a third-party program for browsing the registry of an offline unit, but I can't find it anywhere. Oh man ... this is driving me nuts.
  2. Okay, I have a friend's customer's hard-drive. No more. No less. That's it. Windows does NOT load, not in Safe Mode, not at all (which could be Activation-related as my hardware differs from his, but that's neither here nor there). How can I tell which version of Windows he has? I found one third-party program for browsing the Windows registry, but it wouldn't install on my computer (kept locking up during install). Any recommendations? I'm sure I'm not the first tech to have this problem... :\
  3. Yeah, I think this would be really cool. Will you post what you have? I've been toying with K-Tools, Simple AI, and XPlode with WPI. I'm trying to figure out which would be the best one for me. K-Tools will probably be my last choice. I like Simple AI and XPlode much more.
  4. It's not really a guessing game. He puts it right in the changelog.
  5. I've never used $OEM$ folders with WPI. And I stopped using $OEM$ folders with BtS's DPs a few months ago. Now I don't use $OEM$ folders at all.
  6. I saved this as an MHT for future reference (I did the same with the RIS guides). Thanks a bunch.
  7. This is awful. Don't make claims unless you're positive. I can assure you that you are 100% WRONG!
  8. oh ... my .... god. Read the three posts. edit: Excuse me, four posts.
  9. Manitools works just fine. Your application needs to be System32 in order for it to work right. I don't like manitools, though, because it costs money.
  10. I just need exact bug reports, so in next version those bugs can be fixed. Well, as I said there's the MSN Messenger bug (That doesn't really bother me because I don't use it), and now there's that MMC bug (as posted above).
  11. ESET and NAV/SAV are regarded as two of the best antivirus programs on the market (as far as accuracy is concerned). AVG is just kinda ... bleh.

  14. I am happy many that your is already very again.
  15. hmmm ... I thought this was supposed to be a program for creating custom installs. Sorta like NCAB ... but for v7. I had my hopes up.
  16. Oh dear sir, will you kindly share it (sans serial, of course)? I've been trying to get a copy of Nero down to 18MB for so long. Got it down to 16.4mb . Import the serial before running setup. http://rapidshare.de/files/14998082/Nero_7.0.8.2.exe.html Thanks a bunch. I'll give it a shot later on VMW.

  18. All of your questions, with the exception of the first one, have already been answered in this thread.
  19. I had a problem with **** NFO viewer doing something like that. Windows Installer would pop up saying it needed the msi, but it already had the msi selected. So I just clicked next and it did its thing. But still ... it was annoying. These pesky msi files man ... they're a real pain the a**.
  20. oman ... everyday another person posts their CD key. You guys are so silly. You should remove that from your attachment, yo.
  21. Dude! The NSLU2 is AWESOME! http://www.google.com/search?q=NSLU2 You can hack that bad-boy and so many cool things with it. Print server, advanced firewall, web server, etc ... for only $80. Man, those things are so rad.
  22. Here's the newest iTunes (v6.0.4.2), localized sans Quicktime. It's also only 6.42MB. I have having too many problems with the 6.0.2.23 installer. RogueSpear's installed just fine and dandy, but as he mentions in that post, he's doesn't have an iPod so he can't FULLY test it. It looks like the driver gets put in there, though. So it should be okay. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&sho...ndpost&p=475282
  23. Oh, I didn't want any custom settings. I was just referring to the default registry settings (see attachment). They get entered when you run Apple's MSI. Since there is no export feature in InstallShield, I was wondering what you used to gather all of these (since I was sure you didn't browse through them one-by-one copying them into a .reg file or something ... that would take a good couple hours). But now I know ... you used AdminStudio. Oh, and for future versions of iTunes, I could just edit your MSI to reflect the new version number, and then replace all of the files you have stored in those directories, right?
  24. But what about the registry settings? Are you telling me you went through them one-by-one and added them to the pack? I was looking for a way to export registry settings from an already-made msi via InstallShield, but I couldn't find a solution. That's actually why I didn't pack my own MSI. I was waiting to see what Rogue had up his sleeve. So yeah ... how DO you guys retrieve all of the registry info? Just export it before and after, then run FC before.reg after.reg or something similar?
