If your looking for storadge, id get 2 200gb wds, there about 200 bucks here in the states. And those babies in striped raid would be tight! But if your looking for speed, go with the new SATA 36gb wd raptors. The spin at 10k and out perform scsi drives in some departments! 2 of those bad boys on mirror would be tight as hell! In regards to a upgrade on the AMD side, i would wait for the amd 64 and 64FX to mature a bit and wait for a reversion on the Nforce 3 and kt800. That would be your best bet. A partial upgrade to a barton core wouldnt be that worth it...wait till tis mid- to late october, my inside sources say we will see a serious price drop. |Drew|

Kick the refresh rate up to as high as the moniter lets you and do not exceed the resolution limitations. Double check the specifications online and possiably get the companies recommnded drivers. |Drew|

Im getting alot of negative and positve on the pogo pin adaptor. Yes they seem alot more simple, but i have heard they can be a pain lining up the "d0". Also they reccomend not moving the console around much after, cause the pogos can come off the soder points. Additionaly, im wondering what dash/bios everone is running. Im content in running Evo-x and running Xbox media player as an app within to run divx and xvid films. |Drew|

The Linux exploits are not as effective for my purpose. I want eh Xbox to contain all my media so i can play movies as well as backed up games. I was thinking of doing the streaming method with the mech assult exploit, but i want the games and movies to be local, so i can take it over to friends and watch my wide selection of films, and play all my games without lugging all them around. |Drew|

I am interested in modding an Xbox to replace a desktop rig that i use as a media center. From all that i have read, the best chip would be the Xecutor 2.2lite. Im thinking about getting the Plus model which you dont have you soder at all, but it has been not as reliable as the sodered versions. Can anyone reccomend good tolls to do the job, or someone in the USA, california region that could help me out locally? Or any tools that would make the job more simple? In addition to the mod chip, ill be adding a 120gb maxtor HDD and im thinking of spliting the mod chips 1mb bios into 2x 512. One for the new xecutor and the other for Evolution-X Any one experienced in this region of Modding? |Drew|

From what i have seen the new 865/875 chipset is not that great for over clocking. A friend of mine upgraded from a MSI 845Ge mobo to and MSI 865PE neo2 and droped a signifigant amount of overclocking capability. But im sure you would make it up in overall performance with the addition of DOT and Dural chan mem. |Drew|

With the proper drivers the ati will perform better. Though i have found less problems with Nvidia and the detenator driver series. PS. Why dont you install each individual card and run a 3dmark benchmark test. Then pick acordingly. |Drew|

also make sure that your batch files match the Actual directory the files are in. Otherwise you will get similar errors int he future. |Drew|
