While linux is stable it is not ready for prime time. I used debian for about a year I found it amusing to say the least, but after the amusment wore off I found it to be a pain in the ***. Some programs could be found while others you have to get the bianary recompile it and if you want it to look and play nice put a graphical front end on it. Stable but not user friendly

I get a lot of enjoyment out of reading and answering some post. But the most enjoyment I get is from the dedication from the people in here that really give the term personal computers meaning. To me the meaning of "Personal Computers" means having choices not having an "out of the box" OS designed by a corporation telling us what we want and need. Through the dedication and hard work of people developing and others testing programs we now have choices. Thanx for giving "Personal Computers" real meaning. There are too many to name in here but you all know who you are.

I am using IE6SP2 lockdowns + prevention pack + MS AntiSpyware beta and I am really satisfied. so why not just disable all registry startup paths? I've done this and all of my occasional scans never detected a bit of spyware. interested in both these methods can someone give details

A few questions I use Nlite is this compatable with Nlite if so does it install like service pack or hotfix? Should sp-4 be installed first or does it incorporate in sp-5 that is in sp-4. Just wondering

I second win rar for just viewing iso but to edit them I like magic iso cause it will do iso up to 4.7 gig

xp does have system restore or if it wont biit to windows ERD can be used

I have used both intel and athlon and intel. Athlon uses more power but can be tweaked more but at the cost of generating more heat. Athlon is more rugged and more foregiving. So my vote is something in the athlon line

Each modem has its own address which must go thru the IP so getting free broad band is very hard. One thing some people do tho is to get a signal detector and find an unencrypted signal coming from wireless, keep in mind signal theft is still theft
