  1. How to Test a Power Supply Using a Power Supply Tester https://www.lifewire.com/test-a-power-supply-using-a-power-supply-tester-2626160
  2. You're welcome, could also try Microsoft catalogue, and don't chase the newest drivers, I still run a 2006 driver for my LAN, it's better than the one from 2009. https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=
  3. Dave, but you wrote the disk is seen fine with a direct connection. Well, technically it's not 100% direct (it's still uses a SATA cable, but another one).
  4. While I have no troubles helping a non-English member, it's still advisable you finally switch to another software for the forum translations from English into your native dialect. It's just easier, rather than asking every time you don't understand. self-sufficient /sĕlf″sə-fĭsh′ənt/ adjective Able to provide for oneself without the help of others; independent. Having undue confidence; smug. Sufficient for one's self without external aid or coöperation. https://www.wordnik.com/words/self-sufficient MPC HC is self-sufficient. It's capable of effecting all its own ends without the aid of others (in this case - third party codecs).

  6. Someone already tried playing the game Mortal Kombat 1 (2023 remake) using the October Kernel?
  7. Try here. https://driverscollection.com/? Input "Silicon Image 3132" in the search page, it shows 48 pages, sorry, can't go through them all.
  8. Answered here. https://msfn.org/board/topic/181911-read-gpt-hard-disk-on-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1258067 Additionally, I had an HDD that ran with a bad SATA cable for years, it was slower, I hadn't noticed apparent errors at first, I wasn't particularly observant because the PC simply ran a surveillance camera setup, one day the HDD simply stuck at 100% load, but as soon as I replaced the cable, all got back to normal, even the disk speed increased (pointing out to the initially poor sata cable quality), and yes, when I looked at SMART, it had CRC errors shown, but corrected.
  9. What are you so angry about? They are right. Win32 chose to place his browser and all of the developments there, on github, now his content is protected against reposting, stealing, etc. Someone needs to learn how to respect someone else's choice. Edit: All famous platforms are fighting against their data scraping.
  10. Thanks, but you probably misunderstood the question, I'll rephrase. I don't have any third party codecs installed for H265, Vista doesn't have its own H265, yet the standalone (portable) MPC HC decodes H265 with hardware decoding, why and how? The only explanation it's self sufficient enough, and doesn't depend on other resources, but you wrote otherwise.
  11. Windows 95 has a single locale file, WindowsSystemLocale.nls, which holds all the locale information for every language. https://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?site_id=nrsi&item_id=WindowsCodepages
  12. "The easiest way to install multiple language Windows operating systems is to have one "senior" Windows version and one "junior" Windows version. For example, English Windows 2000 and Chinese Windows 98, English Windows NT and Chinese Windows 95." https://www.creative-wisdom.com/computer/windows/different_lang.shtml
  13. If an HDD runs fine when connected directly, it's 100% something's acting up on the route. First, cables, second - PSU, third - the chip, but also poorly soldered connectors. I use these, not ideal, but quite fine, I don't trust the supplied storage that comes with the disk. They are made from aluminium, painted black, super speed, it's what I use. Supplied with a 2A PSU and a good eSATA cable and one USB 3.2 cable (very thick, good quality). https://www.fantec.de/produkte/speicherprodukte/ssd-festplattengehaeuse/35-zoll-festplattengehaeuse/produkt/details/artikel/1479_fantec_db_alu3e/ Edit: Sorry, non English link, but I guess everyone's already familiar with German.
  14. Depends on the level of your Japanese. If you're fluent, go with a Japanese installation. And I'm pretty sure I remember we had multi language Windows 95 installations at my military academy (I finished it earlier, in 1992, but had to study some additional languages in 1996-97, by that time they already had Win95), I know folks had studied Japanese there also, so shouldn't have to be a problem to run a multi LP installation, in theory. But probably those were some special military editions, I dunno.
  15. I have an answer for this, too, starting with Vista - Windows has a much better error handling overall, computers working with faulty RAM sticks isn't that uncommon, not to mention cables. But if your Ultra ATA CRC Error Count climbs up, you need to replace the cable ASAP, don't copy the files with that cable.
  16. Yes, like I wrote, those cables/connections are just bad, they don't make good cables anymore. I had a case (which is very common now), the cables were made from aluminium with only a bit of copper coating! Such cables degrade very fast.

  18. No, it doesn't work. The same error, like on the previous screenshot.

  20. The image wasn't working as soon as he posted, I've waited for several minutes and hit reply. It can be checked by the time of the posts. It's several minutes only, so not likely the cause.
  21. HTTP ERROR 404
  22. And this is for the trusted certs. "Automatic certificate trust list update" https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-cs/certificate-trust
  23. It supposed to fetch them automatically. The cert store hasn't changed between Vista and 11. "An automatic updater of untrusted certificates is available for Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2" https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/an-automatic-updater-of-untrusted-certificates-is-available-for-windows-vista-windows-server-2008-windows-7-and-windows-server-2008-r2-117bc163-d9e0-63ad-5a79-e61f38be8b77
  24. See? It tells you "was retried", meaning it could be finished in the end, but failed to do at the first attempt, is there another cable and PSU you can try? What does Ultra ATA CRC Error Count tell you? (HDD sentinel)
  25. I had this error long time ago, for me it was the dodgy (wobbly) eSata cable. "Faulty SATA or power supply cable", but in this case also could be the compatibility issues of the new controller with XP. https://appuals.com/fix-the-io-operation-at-logical-block-address-for-disk-was-retried/
