Dave, did you try the same version as Win10 or similar (lower) version on XP?

With or without sandbox? I've read it leads to a huge memory leak, like the one on Supermium.

I has a similar case where I couldn't even move executable files across the system, not to mention drag-n-drop, Windows 7 is nothing more but a big bug itself. The issue was never solved, even after all those years. I posted about it on MSFN somewhere in 2020. Something tells me it will be the same in this case, good if I will be wrong. And I'm talking about a totally fresh install.

Warlock 1989. Re-issue from a new 4k scan, fantastic!
-
No wonder as DXVA Checker demands Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 Runtime, and Windows XP is limited to just 4.0 Also, it demands newer redists of Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime x86 (32bit/64bit Windows) Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime x64 (64bit Windows) Way too much for such a simple tool!
-
They declare it only works starting with Win7. I haven't checked myself, but the ratings are very low (only 2 stars). https://dxva-checker.en.lo4d.com/windows

BTW, I've just grabbed a sample from youtube, and the newer videos now identified as V_VP9, not VP9 or the usual VP09 in MP4 container, thoughts? My Titan X obviously doesn't know what to do with them, MPC-HC can decode them in the soft mode, but 2160p plays extremely choppy, while 1080p are fine. The videos in this format are disgusting, overbright, lots of glow, like a heavy de-noise filter applied all over them. _ screenshot added

Unfortunately, it's not the case with the streaming services here, in France. I recently purchased James Bond collection (another re-issue from the fresh 4 scans), it is all encoded in H265. Choppy on my piece of garbage GTX titan X, despite having the official XP drivers up to 368.81. This port or any usual MPC-HC struggles with them, plenty of dropped frames.
-
It should be marked as "SE" on the sticker.
-
Oh, you're welcome, I too sometimes forget things! Honestly, your screenshot looks very lame, it basically means you can only decode VC-1 with your current hardware/set of drivers. Edit - Which driver version is that?
-
It's always very tricky with Nvidia, it's pretty much gambling. My card was released later than the Special Edition of 750, but it is still gimped, not to mention they dared to gimp the famous Titan, and released the top class card without that simple ability! I guess I was lucky because I bought for 40 Euros only.
-
No, I have GTX Titan X Maxwell, H265 is also limited to just 8bit (partial format). Of Maxwell - only GTX960 and 950 are fully unlocked for 10bit decoding.
-
For the full decode abilities you would need to buy GTX750 SE (Special Edition), not the Ti. GeForce GTX 750 SE GTX 950, GTX 960 GM206 VP7 F January 2015 Introduced VP9 and HEVC (Main and Main 10) video decoding https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_PureVideo
-
GPUZ, you can see it in the additional section, below the BIOS information, under "DXVA" category.
-
No, it was in GTX 960 and GTX 950 already included. (Maxwell) "The seventh generation of PureVideo HD, introduced with the GeForce GTX 960 and GTX 950, a second generation Maxwell (microarchitecture) GPU (GM206), adds full hardware-decode of H.265 HEVC Version 1 (Main and Main 10 profiles) to the GPU's video-engine. Feature Set F hardware decoder also supports full fixed function VP9 (video codec) hardware decoding" Look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nvidia_PureVideo
-
Yes, it does. HEVC Version 1 (Main 8 bits) is supported on 750. HEVC (Main 10 profile) is not supported on GTX 750.
-
Absolutely right! To be frank, it's a very poor port (in my opinion). To answer your question about VP9, it was there in 359.xx drivers already, but limited to the lowest bit depth (8 bit). They called it "partial". The newer videos from youtube (2017-2018 and up) can't be hardware decoded on XP. Your card also has the limited (partial) VP9 hardware feature. The first card that has 10-bit (full) unlocked VP9 is GTX1060 (released in 2016) with the first driver 368.39 (that works only on Vista, obviously). I hoped I explained all in details.

Dixel, don't waste your time, the member doesn't appreciate our help, despite we explained everything in details, it seems to me he's not being serious, and having fun. I've examined the player package, no ported DX11 there, of course.
-
Yes, I remember all those bla-bla-bla talks for twenty years, promises to port DirectX 10 to XP. it never happened, of course, and Direct X11 is simply much harder.
-
What do you mean by "maybe"? There can't be a "maybe". You need to listen to knowledgeable people trying to help you. Explaining again, with links. DirectX 9 ver.4.09.00.0904 is the last *OFFICIAL* and *SUPPORTED* version for Windows XP. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX DirectX 11 "Microsoft unveiled DirectX 11 at the Gamefest 08 event in Seattle ... launched for Windows Vista (not XP!) on October 27, 2009" But, a big but, DirectX 11 was used only for gaming! DirectX 11 video acceleration is only available since Windows 8! https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/d3d11/ns-d3d11-d3d11_video_decoder_config
-
You couldn't run anything with DirectX 11 on XP. "Minimum supported client Windows 8 [desktop apps | UWP apps]" https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/d3d11/ns-d3d11-d3d11_video_decoder_config Links for you to study. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/display/d3d11-video-playback-improvements https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/wmformat/enabling-directx-video-acceleration

No offence, you're quite chatty for someone anti-social. Maybe you meant anti-socialist? (misspelling)

No, that comparison is 100% legit, I can confirm that myself. Now, let's talk years. In 1979, when I was small, I couldn't allow myself to freely roam the balcony just in briefs/underwear, not because I was shy, no, but because it was still cold in the winters.
