Indeed it is very unfortunate. This could be a huge wall we need to break . It's even more evil than the missing functions. A short description of the problem is that the power states not always switch or reset correctly . Though the weirdest thing - it works much better with Haswell ! Yes , you read right . The same haswell that has "timing" issues or whatever you call it . On Haswell it could crash like only 3-5 times a day . Though on others , like LGA1156 it crashes like crazy . Weird , right ? Maybe we could cheat the driver then ? Trick it into thinking it's operating a haswell PC ? P.C. I now also have a new haswell machine to make tests , in addition to my kabylake and other older ones. All are with the cheapest CPUs though .

Good idea, I'll try, thanks ! By any chance , do you know are there any newer ported nVidia drivers ? I've recentlty tried several new games and none of them worked because the last driver for Win 7 is very old . Looks like win 7 is a lost cause. And yes , I even tried to update the system to the last supported level. BTW , Elden Ring didn't work . Well , if I apply the suggested above patches , it starts and I can hear the sound with an empty black screen + cursor . Definitely looks like a driver issue . My card and CPU are supported .

@win32, I've had some success with the 378 drivers . Would you help me teleporting the portion of the code responsible for the power states from any older drivers that worked fine ? Is it difficult ? Thanks.

Glad to be of help ! I'm not rich either. These days everything is so expensive and salaries aren't good. I wish it was 80's or 90's now. Anyways, golddiggers are actually good ! You could use them and throw out . You don't have to be rich to date a golddigger . Many are stupid , btw. But the opportunities are quite good , esp. when you want to date someone 20-30 years younger. I don't even remember when I dated someone my age . And I really miss the times when dating sites were popular ! It was much easier to find someone much younger from another (less expensive provincial) rural city . And they were very happy to come to me ! Like very-very happy .
