  1. Thanks to those who mentioned Metapad. I was using Notetab lite, but as cyberaxe noted it's not "really" lightweight, only when compared to PSPad and others like it. Metapad is really light, however and seems to be the nicest "basic" text editor and a great notepad replacement. @cyberaxe... I can't imagine what you are looking for that Metapad is not. Light, portable, simple. I like it.
  2. Try IZArc. I use it to make auto-extractors for BartPE Plugins. It is .7z capable and has nice options for self-extractor such as default path and supress extraction folder dialog. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/izarc.html
  3. You could use a partition cloner like Symantec Ghost or Acronis True Image if the hardware is the same (or similar). If you want cheaper solution try Digital Dolly. http://www.innotrix.com/index.htm
  4. It would be more helpful if you attached your project to post so others can open it and look. If quoting error messages, you need to be exact, not "is something like".
  5. 20W-50 HD Oil does the trick for me. (but I am already married, so I don't have to get a date)
  6. http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm BTW: Boot disk for Win3.1 is DOS 6.2x
  7. Without 3rd party util You can make a compressed folder and password protect it. http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,110663,00.asp If you are using NTFS you can encrypt single file in "properties"
  8. should be there now if it went through. just finished sending
  9. No, ERROR. it was returned for "suspicious content". Sometimes can beat this by putting in folder, archiving with password and renaming .txt. I will try that, then I have to go. archive password = dman
  10. You have 10 MB Limit. http://mail.rediff.com/learnmore.htm PHP sent with no errors. If you want xampp I will split when I get time. PM me if you need it.
  11. Mail Returned "Maximum Size Exceeded". I will try to send just the PHP. That is 7MB
  12. I will try, but it's 22 MB. Might take a while to send. Hope you can receive file that big.
  13. You can download them here-> http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...lease_id=319324 you want xampp-win32-1.4.13 (any 1 of the last 3 on list. they are same, just one is self-extract, one installer and one plain zip.)
  14. You need PHP to run *.php files. This tip I picked up from Prathampl. Get XAMPP http://sourceforge.net/projects/xampp/ Has Apache server, PHP, MySQL and Perl all in one package that doesn't need installing. Just extract, configure and run. The PHP scripts go in the htdocs folder.
  15. NoteTab Lite is very lightweight with good useful features. http://www.notetab.com

  17. If it is an activex dll you can add a reference to project or use "createobject" If it is a regular dll you must use "Declare Function" statement. Look up this in help.
  18. HKLM/software/microsoft/internet explorer/abouturls/blank By default is set to res://mshtml.dll/blank.htm
  19. I had this problem on Win2000 several years ago. As I remember, clearing temp folder fixed problem. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;250343
  20. Hi Philly Neighbor, A 350 W Pwr. supply should be plenty for that box. The bundle is the way to go. I get mine at tigerdirect. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Ca...lc.asp?CatId=32 check out the powermax case. $28 and includes supply, can't beat that.
  21. @stan, nice rec on startupmechanic. I am adding it to my toolbox. http://www.startupmechanic.com/
  22. Oh, then you know more about it than me already. I can build plugins, but never tried drivers. I am big fan of Steel and BUGer, they have done some excellent work on UBCD. I would be interested to hear how you make out with your idea. Sounds logical. Have you tried manually copying them into build tree before making iso?
  23. Check out UBCD4WIN and LittlBUGer driver packs. Great extension project to BartPE. Many utils and drivers and they are adding more all the time. http://www.ubcd4win.com/
  24. You could try cleaning the prefetch cache. If you install and remove a lot of programs it can get confused and look for programs that dont exist anymore. No idea if it will help your problem, but cant hurt. http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2495 You could also try bootvis to tune boot files. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=664 My pc does this same behavior when I boot with a zip disk in the zip drive... goes into space for a few min then zip drive clicks and boot resumes.
  25. I agree with those who suggest CDBurnerXP. Is clearly the most "Professional" of the freeware titles. If you are worried about bloat try silentnight micro. Only 730k and doesn't need to be installed. Only does data, though... no images. http://www.silentnight2004.com/Download.html
