  3. Thought you had this licked last night..... 1.) disk cleanup is not showing how many compressed files there are, it is showing an estimate of how much space will be saved by compressing old files. 2.) no, it is not going to delete compressed files if you check that box, it will create more of them. leave the flippin box unchecked already.
  4. that will keep them from getting compressed, unless another program like disk cleanup tells them to, or you do it manually. It probably started by running disk cleanup with "compress old files" checked. I was looking in my computer and it seems like some folders, like system32\dllcache are compressed by default. don't know why. things that make you go "hmmmmmm"
  5. sixpack, Here is the "openwith" project you wanted compiled. I found the file it needed after some searching. enjoy. dman EDIT:reposted with your changes EDIT: Fixed so displays both Icon and Text Openwith_Dutch.zip
  6. sorry, got the syntax a little wrong. try this> compact /U /I /A /S:\ this should do whole drive.
  7. run "compact /U /S /A /I c:\" from command prompt. This will uncompress all files on drive. do "compact /?" first for helpfile
  8. run disk cleanup and make sure "compress old files" is unchecked
  9. you need to run a .vbs script to set up some enviornment variables first. at command prompt or from another batch file run: >runnow.vbs datepath.bat datepath.zip
  10. look in my computer/manage/services and applications/services to view/stop/start services

    FixMBR

that is "file not found" error. when does it occur? what platform are you running? is mbrfix.exe in the dir? any details will help. Also, put it in a path that has no long directory names (like not on the desktop). shellexecute may have trouble with dir names longer than 8 chars.

    FixMBR

The version of vmbrfix.exe and bat file I posted last night has hard coded paths specific for BartPE. I changed to relative pathing so you should be able to run from anywhere now (must be in path with no long directory names, though), and "should" work under win2k. please let me know. dman reposted 2-02 3:15pm - several small changes reposted 2-02 6:17pm - added "about" box reposted 2-03 9:25am - added error handler vMbrFix.zip
