I went to Waterfox Classic when I moved from Windows XP x64 to Windows 7 x64. It has a number of advantages for my purposes, such as being able to set my location exactly (With CenturyLink DSL, it otherwise gets reported as somewhere in northwestern Ohio, which prevents me from using Locast Cleveland).

I had to install both kb4474419 and kb4490628 before I could install the Nvidia video driver. As far as issues, I have not experienced the OP's issues, nor any other issues.

For Windows 7, you should use Microsoft Security Essentials, not Windows Defender. Microsoft is still providing definition updates for MSE on Windows 7. I just had MSE install today's update as I was typing this response.

I have not noticed this. Windows 7 x64 is slower to start up and respond than Windows XP x64 was. Also, Office 2003 seems to be slower to respond than Office XP was when I used Windows XP x64. Windows XP x64 was considerably faster to respond than Windows XP, and much more stable.

In order to use this version, you need a copy of Windows 7 POS with a valid product key. A quick check of eBay did not turn up any Windows 7 POS copies for sale. It looks like a dead end.

I used to have a triple boot system with Windows XP, XP x64, and Windows 7 x64. Windows XP x64 was my main operating system, but when I could no longer use it to buy stuff off eBay, it was time to move on. I use VueScan for my scanner, since HP did not provide x64 software other than a driver. My LightScribe software works under Windows 7 x64, which is great. In the past, each operating system had its own drive. Now I have Windows 7 x64 on one drive, and the data on another. I have an Asus Prime Q270M-C motherboard that I have yet to get working under Windows 7 x64. I need to give that another try. It goes on its own hard drive, too.

I had not heard of Explorer ++. If I do decide to try it, I will wait until version 1.4 is RTM.

I don't own a laptop. I bought my computer in 1993, a FastData from FastMicro computers, and have upgraded parts incrementally, but never bought a new computer. Although every part has been replaced at least once, I still call it FastData. Like George Washington's axe, even though the handle has been replaced 3 times, and the head replaced twice, it's still George Washington's axe.

When I moved from Windows XP x64 to Windows 7 x64, I also moved to Waterfox Classic. It has been working well for me.

Another minor problem with Windows 7 is that it cheats at Spider Solitaire by not properly shuffling the deck. My success rate with 2 suits went from about 50% to 7% when I changed from Window XP x64 to Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

My biggest complaint is that the "up one level" icon is gone from Explorer. However, since I use Office 2003, when I am searching for a file in Office, that icon is still available.

Now I have my operating system on 1 drive and data on another, which is a handier arrangement. Windows 7 has moved some settings around, which I don't like. I really don't like the loss of the "up one level" icon on Explorer. These changes are like a spouse who is constantly rearranging the furniture. Change for the sake of change, not change in order to make things better. I am using Office 2003, because I detest the ribbon layout. There is an Excel 1040 spreadsheet that requires Office 2010 because the complexity of the calculations cannot be done in previous version of Excel. However, I can't use it for my taxes since it does not have the 1099-OID form. The author told me that I was the only one to ask for this form. That being the case, I do not know if the 1099-OID form will be in the 2020 version. I am not paying for extended support. "Everything still works as required" explains my reason for not upgrading, too. There is a lot of hardware & software that requires Windows 7 or newer, but as yet, there is not much out there requiring Windows 10. I am able to use Windows Security Essentials now, but that has made no real difference so far..

I don't know. I just installed Windows 7 x64 on my computer. After installing SP1 from DVD and installing the Update Rollup from disk, I attempted to install Nvidia 452.06. It refused to install until after I had installed the SHA-2 updates: KB4474419 & KB4490628. Nvidia was kind enough to provide direct download links in the error message. Edit: Upon further research, it turns out I had installed the Servicing Stack April 2015 Update (KB3020369), which is required before installing the April 2016 Convenience Rollup (KB 3125574-v4).

I run Windows XPx64 with roytam1's NM 28 64-bit browser build, and have been pleased with it. Yesterday, I purchased an item on eBay and attempted to pay with PayPal. I got an "Access Denied" error message. I ended up booting into Windows 7x64 and using Microsoft Edge to complete the transaction. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Up until yesterday, I have had no problems purchasing items online with PayPal.

The reason I do not have international language support enabled is so that my setup is as fast and responsive as possible. I have also turned off unnecessary services and only allow a bare minimum number of programs to autostart.

Is this a browser issue or an XPx64 issue? Obviously, I can't fill out this survey, as I can't decode the symbols into English. I do not have International font support enabled. Do I need to do that? I have seen this occur from time to time in other places.

I already had Windows Installer 4.5. Windows Update Agent 7.6 with the /wuforce switch restored Microsoft Update on my English XP SP4 POS 2009 installation. Much to my surprise, there were over 80 updates.

According to my installation log, wic_x64_enu.exe must be installed prior to .NET Framework 4.0. I keep installation logs of my operating systems so that when I erase a hard drive and reinstall, I can get it back the way I want it. I have logs for Windows XP SP3 and Windows XP x64, none yet for Windows 7 x64 as that is relatively new.
