  1. I think Vista could benefit from some improvements in the 7 explorer, like taskbar pinning and the file menu or navigation menu, or whatever it is on the left of the file explorer on 7+
  2. I have gotten the Vista audio driver working on 7+, but it requires driver signature enforcement to be disabled, so I haven't been using it, even though it sounds so much better, even on an ALC1220 Also, the taskbar issues can be easily fixed
  3. My pack are updates I got from updating Vista inside a VM. (Before everything went SHA-2 of course) It's the method I've used for making other updated ISOs Edit: What I meant by missing is the pack of updates that needs to be installed after Vista is installed
  4. I think you'll need to find a specific addon for that
  5. The 8770W is around $300, but you need an expensive eDP display to be able to go Pascal. The Dell Precision M6700/M6800 work with Pascal, but only with a early engineering vBIOS, and only with Optimus if the display is LVDS. The HP zBook G1/G2 work with Pascal, but only with Optimus and the fan control has issues. I went with the 8770W, as I think I'd be able to get a eDP display later, and by then Pascal would probably be at Maxwell prices now, and @win32 might have fixed the drivers by then.
  6. Modern Clevo models have that, but they're more expensive, and anything Pascal and newer is expensive
  7. Might be possible to get it working by changing your useragent
  8. XP/Vista doesn't support it, and it decreases performance Mainly gaming and web browsing, with a bit of video editing on the side. I went with a Quadro, as it's basically a better binned 980m, so chances are that it'd run cooler at a higher clock speed
  9. I haven't taken many home videos, most of what I have is memes, games, and old downloads, songs, data, etc. I have 7TB worth of HDDs, a 3TB HDD, which is a little over half full with games, and a 4TB HDD that is 4/5ths full with the other data I have. (I really should try to RAID 1 again) The 2TB SSD is mostly games, stuff to do with my custom ISOs, and a old libraries folder. The 512GB SSD is for my various Windows installs and their downloads, and such
  10. Yeah, I got the 8770W, just waiting on upgrade parts
  11. It's actually newer, but I replaced it for various reasons My old laptop (MSI GS60 2QE) before I took some parts for the "new" one: Core i7 4720HQ 16GB RAM (2x8GB only two slots) GTX 970M 240GB SATA M.2 SSD that I can't remember the brand of 500GB Samsung 850 Evo SATA M.2 1TB WD laptop HDD My "new" main laptop (HP 8770W): Core i7 3630QM (Can upgrade this all the way to a 3940XM, and get better performance than the 4720HQ) 24GB RAM (2x8GB and 2x4GB) Firepro M4000 (MXM, so I can upgrade this. Have a Quadro M5000M coming in the mail for the laptop) 500GB Samsung 860 Evo 2TB WD Blue SSD coming in the mail I got the 8770W, because my GS60 2QE ran hot and loud, even at idle, the CPU was in the 60s. I also wanted more than 16GB of RAM, a faster GPU, a non-Optimus laptop for use with XP and Vista, etc,
  12. You're pretty old school. My main PC has 2.5TB of SSD storage, my laptop will have 2.5TB of SSD storage, my previous laptop has 0.75TB of SSD storage (Can't use M.2 SATA in "new" laptop)
  13. I'd post an ISO and be done, but MSFN admins would rape me if I did that, so I have to do this the long way. To begin with, you'll need an Windows Vista SP2 ISO. (You might be able to slipstream a service pack into an ISO, but I have not tested it) Download vLite (DISM++ might work as an alternative, but I haven't tried it for this purpose) You'll need to get this pack of updates to update Vista to the 2017 EOS, but some are missing, which I will get to later. You'll need to extract your Vista ISO, and point vLite to the ISO. Now, you'll have to select the Integration, Components, and Bootable ISO option. In Integration, you'll add all the updates, by adding the updates in the 1, 2, 3, and then 4 folders. The program is smart enough to integrate them in the order you added them, so you don't need to worry about multiple integrations. Now once at Components, you'll need to remove a few things, as vLite doesn't like it if the install.wim gets too big. I removed Help, Tablet PC, Windows Easy Transfer, and Natural Language, but you can remove whatever you want, as long as it gets the install.wim small enough. Now you just let it do it's thing and make a bootable ISO. There are a few things you'd need to know after this. There are some things not included in the update pack, like .Net updates, and a few other updates, which are linked here. You also might want to take a look at this, which gives info about various Vista drivers, and gives links to them. You might have issues installing from USB, so you might need to use a DVD, but this only seems to be true for USB 3.0 only systems, and Easy2Boot might work for installing from USB.
  14. That's what I do. I only use Driver Booster if I cannot find any drivers for the OS and the hardware
  15. You should try making an issue on GitHub
  16. The majority of users on 7 know how to protect their systems, and there's a 75% chance that any modern virus that works on 7 would also work on 10. The majority of virus makers will focus on 10, and likely exploit Chrome or something.
  17. Going to see if I can disassemble the previous patch, and figure out what all was changed, then apply it to 16.1.0 Edit: NVM, the url already has patches for 16.1.0
  18. It falls apart when people say they have Windows 7 updated to 2020-01 (Or 2016-09). It's the name of a custom ISO of 7, but the name is so generic that the person could be using normal 7 and used WU to get to 2020-01 or 2016-09. Would they get banned because of the generic name overlapping with something people would normally say?
  19. So you can't even mention you're using a custom OS? Looks like I'm going to be banned for using my own custom copies of Windows then
  20. My Discord server would probably be the best place for discussion about the kernel. It's one of the more popular topics on there, and only few people that got banned were trolls, or were part of the server nuke.
