  1. Do you plan to upgrade to Windows 10 in the next 12 months? No, if anything, I might either downgrade to Vista or upgrade to Windows Server 2012 R1. If new games don't support 7/8, guess I'll have to have a 10 PC I remote into to play games. Might try to make some sort of VNC that only uses 127.0.0.1 or something. Are you paying for extended support? No, I actually usually don't update my system fully anyways, most of my installs are about 4 years out of date update wise. What is the main reason you haven't upgraded? Telemetry, bloat, instability, bad design, UWP, and more. Note: Server 2008 R2 is basically Windows 7 Edit: I've realized that 127.0.0.1 wouldn't work, I'd need to use the network IP of the computer, but that's easy to grab.
  2. I think it'd be best to fake NT 6.1 or 6.3 rather than 10
  3. In the end, will we still have to change the minor verisons of some programs from 1 to 0 to get them to run on Vista?
  4. Maybe try tricking the game into thinking you're on 7 with compatibility mode and/or application verifier
  5. Quite late, but I was reading the Wikipedia page about WDDM, and found this "DXGI 1.1, Direct3D 11, Direct2D, and DirectWrite were made available with Windows Vista Platform Update; however GDI/GDI+ in Vista continues to rely on software rendering and the Desktop Window Manager continues to use Direct3D 9Ex. WDDM 1.1 drivers are backward compatible with WDDM 1.0 specification; both 1.0 and 1.1 drivers can be used in Windows Vista with or without the Platform Update."
  6. Replace the .inf with this one, and try again https://files.catbox.moe/7rv8vo.zip
  7. The r/LegacyWindows wiki has what you're looking for
  8. You don't rename the folder, only the files you replace. For example, kernel32.dll.old is something you could use
  9. x64 files go in System32, x86 files go in SysWOW64 Rename the existing files, then copy over the extended files
  10. Only one way to find out
  11. I just thought of something, Nvidia and AMD have seperate entries for Windows 7 and 8.1, so the 8.1 drivers might be missing a specific file required by the game. Try modding the video driver to only have the Windows 7 inf entries, and manually add it for your GPU using device manager.
  12. With the modded file, or without?
  13. I didn't know that (Mainly because my XP install on my test system doesn't recognize USB devices anymore, so I can't log on to see how it works)
  14. It's better to use Linux as it won't be concerned with file permissions
  15. Actually the driver might work by itself, just manually select the Radeon R4 Graphics in the .inf using device manager, and see if it works
  16. https://mega.nz/file/wgxAFCzJ#N8_D1L59p8isZ2Gz4nmgBPxkdXlFqS52uxbctbvumDQ If you give me your GPU's hardware ID, I can try modding it in
  17. It might be possible to mod the 15.100 embedded drivers to work with the laptop as the GPU appears to be based off of the same GCN architecture as the R9 200/300 series
  18. Without ReShade, the game works fine on the extended kernel too. Replacing the OpenGL file with the one from 7 did nothing.
  19. I need to test that, I'll also try testing with 7 OpenGL too
  20. 7DTD uses EAC, which Rust uses, but Rust works fine. Watch Dogs only has old Ubisoft DRM Also, I don't think you understand, the OpenGL32.dll is from Reshade, not Vista.
  21. Making another reply so I don't have to deal with the spoiler nonsense My max total size for files is only 0.01MB for whatever reason, so I had to upload the error messages elsewhere. I also threw in some dependency walker images too. https://files.catbox.moe/mwqt2l.zip For SRTTR and DXMD, I tried the .exe.local idea with only kernel32.dll, but got the same messages as if I were using the extended kernel like normal. Edit: This is the specific ReShade version that I was using that caused the issue
  22. Ran tests with the applications and stock Windows, and got this
  23. Apparently I didn't backup the .dll files on my test system. Will use my test VM
  24. It kinda broke the formatting, but that's easily fixed. Thanks for the solution
  25. With these settings, you should mostly be above 60 at 1440p if the GPU is working properly, at 1080p, it'll definitely be over 60. Occlusion Culling might improve performance. Settings.7z
