@Dave-H With exclusions in place, Panda has been working flawlessly. Tonight I'll remove exclusions to see what happens. Keep you posted.

@Dave-H Panda 22 has been installed. Items added to exclusions start menu, SendTo, Recent, as you suggested. I also included Microsoft Office as well as system explorer ( task manager no connection to internet) So far it has been working as prior to 2nd of July. I' ll monitor the situation and report back.

@Dave-H what is your microsoft office version on your xp? Mine is 2007. Could please add that to your panda exclusions ? Thanks When I scanned my system using panda cloud cleaner ( just wanted to make sure that it works ) I got this pop up which I did not read properly, it was almost 5 am that ms office icon was not real or something along these lines. I cancelled the cloud service before getting the results it was taking more than 5 minutes and I wanted to call it a day. Then I realised that ms office would not work along with system explorer. I do not want to jump into any conclusions but I think it might be related. PS. Very hard to access this forum since Monday

@AstroSkipper I mean RAM. I got 8 GBs. MY xp reads around 3 GBs. There is something that my system does not like about it. I have not put any effort to find out what is causing that. Could it be that my xp is 32bits ?

Unfortunately most of online scanners require 64 bits windows ( Trend micro, Eset . F Secure etc.) #2 bits support has been dropped. I have installed panda cloud cleaner. @modnar You fot a point regarding the Italian one. My system No antivirus ( computer idle desktop) memory usage is 16%. Panda installed memory 19% - 20%, Avast installed memory 21% - 23% . Italian one 29% - 46% . Also PC tools seems to be alergic to it. Had to uninstall it. I am not willing to pay for something that can render my pc almost inoperable. About comodo have not used it for ages and if my memory serves my right it is very hard to get rid of it. @Dave-H I am willing to reinstall panda and do what you have suggested. Keep you posted.

@AstroSkipper Free . I am sure you are aware that reviews have been unfavourable since its inception. Western propaganda ? Regarding Chinese products. Better than nothing is debatable ? Yes, it could run seamlessly along side the Italian one and still be a very light compo. What do you reckon ?

For example Eset : Here is how to get it for XP: Click on link https://www.eset.com/us/home/online-scanner/ >Towards bottom of web page click 'Choose language version' >Under 'Download Options' click 'Choose other product version' >Under 'Configure download' click the down arrow of 'Version' and select Version 2 ('Operating system' window will show XP)>click 'DOWNLOAD'. Hope that still works. It did about a year ago.

@AstroSkipper Panda 21 is working without any problems what so ever, so far so good. I reckon it is the best choice ever. I do have Avast 18.5 but I would never go back to it. Kind of dodgy. Thank you very much indeed !

I do not know if this helps the date if memory serves me well was december 2024. that file was downloaded begining of 2025. I'll check the exact date.

@AstroSkipper Off line installer version 15.14.5.0. However being a tad stupid and click happy I clicked on the update from settings. What I am planning to do tonight is to reinstall and refrain from clicking update. Let us see how this pans out. Keep you posted. Cheers

Regarding panda forum reporting, to be able to uninstall panda you have to be able to stop the antivirus running. right clicking task bar icon does not always respond. after a few reboots my task bar icon informed me that my computer was not protected, a tiny red circle with the x. then it was easy to uninstall from add/remove. I also used their generic uninstaller which removed everything from my pc. I did a clean install but unfortunately the song remained the same. 5 minutes later it crashed. I have not got the foggiest how to go about it.

@D.Draker I do not think I made myself clear enough. What I am saying is , I do not have Kb3080149 installed on my computer. Despite the developers requirements ungoogled functions without it, well in my system. Another thing is due to manifest V2 being depricated, with this particular browser unfortunately you cannot install extensions from chrome web store. Add to chrome button is grayed out. Unless of course if there is a zip file at the developers github webpage and by switching into developer mode you may do so. No problems what so ever using supermium. Cheers

@D.Draker Installed ungoogled portable version 133 of said developer and KB in question as it seems is not required. KB3080149 : This package updates the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service to existing devices. This service provides benefits from the latest version of Windows to systems that have not yet upgraded. The update also supports applications that are subscribed to Visual Studio Application Insights. Version 133 runs ok in my system Windows 7 SP1 pro. THe problem is, youtube videos play for 20s and then go into a never ending buffering business. Official ungoogled suffered from the same symptoms according to some people in reddit if am not mistaken. I might give version 134 a ride and see what happens. Cheers 134 ungoogled works and plays youtube videos, of course with an occasional buffering here and there. overall is ok. KB3080149 you can give it a miss.

I could not resist the temptation. This beauty of a firewall is still available Sygate Personal Firewall ( spf ) which you may downloaded from here :https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/sygate_personal_firewall_free.html I think majorgeeks seems to be a safe site. I did use it for a bit over 6 months and I found it to be rather good. The thing is I am a pc tools person ever since the days of windows 2000 nt pro. I guess the jury is out. @AstroSkipper give us your verdict then.

Thank you @AstroSkipper It is due to my personal experience using aforesaid product which you might denote it as subjective. There is an ongoing thread Wilders Security. Please see link below : https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/superantispyware-updates-news.391893/ I am absolutely sure you are aware of that. Quite a few, not very encouraging comments on Reddit . Also there is this youtube video where this product is tested against 575 malware. This video is in Portuguese. You can always put English or German subtitles. I have to say that I am enjoying this new thread very much indeed. Thank you Cheers !

SUPERAntiSpyware, the only thing is good at is to remove cookies. Basically is crap. I do have it installed on my XP ( just for the cookies really) I have not used it for at least four years maybe even more. It is a waste of space.

I installed portable 112.3.4.3. (Release date 12/04) this morning. Everything including Secure DNS works as expected. I never got any errors or crashes from any of the Catxp versions ( 110, 111, 112 ) what so ever.
