  1. Can I have my username changed to i430VX (note the case, the first letter being lowercase, and the VX being uppercase) This way, i will have the same name across the inter-webs, (for the most part) Thanks!
  2. To answer your question @Roffen it would copy setup files to the HDD, restart, get to the "Installing Devices" stage, and halfway through, BSoD. 0x0000007b If I recall correctly. I see you edited your initial post. If its very slow, have you installed the chipset drivers yet?
  3. Hello, welcome to the thread dedicated to sharing the systems you have. Pictures, backstory, specifications, it all goes here! (the rest of this post is outdated and will be updated) Personally, I own 3. Compaq Presario 1260 Compaq Presario 1065 (and a broken one for parts) Compaq Presario 3550 (Will add details Later) My father has a Presario 1200XL with Windows ME. (Still actively used by him for Excel and Word editing)
  4. Have you set the HDD controller to Compatibility/IDE mode? At what point do you get the BSoD? What does it say? On my fairly new-ish board, I had to also disable all of the CPU cores in BIOS except the first one, install XP SP3, and re-enable them. If/When you need them, here is drivers for the board. Just select XP from the list and there they are. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M5A99FX_PRO_R20/HelpDesk_Download/
  5. yep. my resolution is 1024x768 and zooming out fixes it. I knew I should have gotten the 15' ThinkPad T60 with a slightly larger resolution.
  6. I really do have to agree with you @Tommy the windows 2000 interface is my favorite, even though I leave XP (My main OS) at its default 'Fisher-Price Blue' interface. Even though 95 (with IE4 web update, only difference being no title bar color blending ) , 98 and ME have almost the same interface as 2000, The Windows 2000 shell looks the best to me, and is more stable, from my experience. (although the 95 shell without the web update seems pretty darn stable too)
  7. remember, @98SE, if you need blazing performance and fanless there's always those absurd cases that cost £900, like this one https://www.quietpc.com/tnn500af speaking of fanless, it is my mission to eventually have a passively cooled P4 PresHOT 3.8ghz (I'm seriously doubting this is possible, the one in my dell has a MASSIVE heatsink and good thermal paste but the fan always hangs around somewhere between "vacuum cleaner" and "Turbocharged Leafblower".) You broke the theme @98SE ...10
  8. Sometime around (perhaps exactly when) the forum was upgraded, the bar that shows when a person joined and last visited and stuff is a little broken on all the browsers I can test: this is in slimjet, (chrome 50) although it occurs on all other browsers i can test. Firefox 52.3 ESR Chedot (chrome 51) Advanced Chrome (chrome 54) IE8 (well, IE8 is totally broken, not expecting a fix here...) ------------------- Confirmed the issue on my other PC that i currently have available for testing. -------------------------------- Interestingly, my own profile loads fine...
  9. I'd like to see it happen but my intel 915 mobo + 3.8ghz P4 seems "overkill enough" for 9x. So i personally don't need it. ...but if i had an AM4 board and patches to run 9x were free/cheap, Suuuuuuure, id load 98SE on that sucker, along with whatever other OS id want to have on it. ...8
