  1. Hello, I have another problem, my Windows Vista laptop is having a rather high rate of failure to open installers. This issue has prevented me from installing a lot of software like Adobe Reader, Cyberfox, Vivaldi browser, and the list goes on. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? I am running Vista x64...I would run Windows XP if possible, but its not supported, Vista itself isn't officially supported either but works anyway with Windows 7 drivers. I had to use Vista over 7 because 7 wouldn't properly function and was even SLOWER than Vista and its own display driver wouldn't properly work or something, preventing aero from working.
  2. You should have this link on your site for WPA2 on W2K, its very handy for newbies like me who prefer W2K over other versions of Windows. Many official wireless utilities for W2K don't support WPA2 sadly. http://web.archive.org/web/20070407064532/http://www.boingo.com/download_windows.html

  3. Didn't someone create a KernelEx 0.01 or something or XP??? What happened to that topic? Maybe with that chrome 50 and later could run?
  4. Sadly not (At least the site says so, W2K SP4 and XP only) KernelEx maybe worth a shot, although KernelEx does not work well (If at all) with drivers... Be prepared to manually uninstall and delete in case. WPA2 has been always problematic in Windows 98, there are ways of obtaining WPA2 like Odyessy Client 3.1 to 4.52 (Discontinued Wireless Utility), Wireless Cards (Requires installation), Card buses (Be very careful which one you buy, some do not work with Windows 9x despite being adv'd doing so), Wireless USB adapters (But like mentioned, maybe cause issues, these same issues maybe present in card buses as well), or changing your router's settings if possible. I'm somewhat confident there must be some sort of Wireless Utility released back in 2001-2008 that contained WPA2 with 9x support. We just need to look for it... Biongo Wireless Utility (Archive.org version doesn't support wpa2) Macafee Wireless Security Utility (Archive.org version doesn't support wpa2)
  5. Title says it all, is there any system utility capable of force uninstalling programs on Windows 9x due to the following -Corrupted file(s) which won't allow uninstallation to continue -Deleted folders which contained files required to uninstall a program -Program is incompatible with Windows 9x and refuses to uninstall itself
  6. This issue is only found in Windows 98SE for me. Oddly Windows ME does not have this issue. Besides some bloat, I'm beginning to wonder why everyone hated ME so much; Came with generic usb drivers, more updated dll's (Better enough for someone to even make a program which allows "killer replacements" to 98SE), more hardware tolerant, even software tolerance occasionally, and if you need DOS there's a patch online. Is this issue likely linked to dll files or something? There must be something in WinME that prevents this error
  7. Thanks, it says I have 35.5GB of free space. Yes, I created only a single C: drive. I guess I'm better off using Windows ME in this case (Which completely worked from the box, minus the drivers), Windows 98SE is not worth the extra hassle...
  8. I know my computers...I was being stupid because it was late at night... Info: My hard drive is 40gb, my OS uses all the hard drive space possible if that helps. Both WinRAR and 7-Zip give me this error. You are correct about K-Meleon's size. I doubt my hard drive is close to being full (36360MB free according to System Properties, Virtual Memory. Let me know how to properly find how much a hard drive is full if possible!). Even after getting this error I was able to install other programs. I'm kinda new to file compressing. I know its making files smaller, but I'm unsure how to find the size its supposed to expand to though since I didn't compress it... Haven't used the laptop for a few days now and I guess I deleted the file or something. I instead have a Qupzilla Portable file. Its about 171.13MB if unpacked and its about 66.786kb compressed
  9. Odd...I tried changing the temp folder to a new folder on a desktop (Testing) only to get the message 7-zip has preformed an illegal operation... I haven't tried changing the temp folder yet and the temp folder is the default size included with a Windows 98 installation
  10. I reinstalled Windows 98SE on my Dell Latitude D600 and am facing just one issue. I was trying to extract K-Meleon 75.1 into a folder from 7-zip I get an error "Cannot Copy file: File System Error (1026). This error doesn't only happen with my K-Meleon file, but most files opened in 7-zip or WinRAR as well. Any fixes for this?
  11. Its completely fine! You helped me plenty already! The only viable option for WPA2 is Odyssey Client 3.1 and later (Up to 4.52), using the wireless card inside the laptop. I wonder how Linksys managed to sell such a crappy product that doesn't even work. Haven't tested it on Windows 2000 or XP.
  12. I really hope this OS dies off soon, its been nothing but problems for me. Its fussier than Windows Vista, currently.
  13. It would just be easier to install all the official updates from the unofficial service pack for Windows 98SE or Windows ME (Depending on which one you're using). The all official updates includes this I believe, I tried it and could install KernelEx afterwards. Note: KernelEx is better for software NOT DRIVERS. I tried KernelEx on many W2K and XP only drivers on two separate laptops only to fail due to dependencies. If you cannot find a proper video driver for your computer, try extracting driverpacks then go to device manager and install. If that still doesn't work there's this (Note: Lacks acceleration and d3d, I think) http://www.navozhdeniye.narod.ru/vbe9x.htm Sadly there are no driver adapters like KernelEx for Windows 98SE...However, depending on your video card/graphics there maybe modded drivers out there to work with Windows 9x. 祝你好运!
  14. Actually, I just realized; Mcafee Wireless Security or Boingo Wireless do support WPA2 on a later version. Look on their archive site for the Windows 2000/XP minimum version, it may contain WPA2
  15. Can't edit due to rendering issues in my web browser... There is ThinkVantage Access Connections which has WPA2, compatible with W2K, but it probably won't work since the adapters maybe aren't supported
  16. I can only think of one wireless client with WPA2 that works with Windows 2000, which is Odyssey Client, version 3.1 began to include WPA2 and ver. 4.52 was the last version to support Windows 98SE/ME. The company's official page for the client seems dead and hasn't worked properly for years. Googling it, it seems like the client disappeared almost like the Windows 98 Unattended disc. After searching hours and hours, you can find it on sites (You're on your own for this one, I discourage piracy).

  18. Wireless Utilities: -Boingo 1.5 (Not WPA2 compatible, could only use WEP...) -WSC Guard 4.0/McAfee Wireless Security 4.1 (Supports WPA, but not WPA2) -Buffalo Client 3 (Supports WPA, but not WPA2) -Odyssey Client Manager 4.52 (The only universal wireless utility capable of WPA2!!!) Obtain keys for the trail version HERE! Important to know! Working PCI-Cards w/ WPA2: HiRO H50069 (RTL8185) (PCI Wireless Card) D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G card *Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter (Wireless Card, unsure if this includes a wireless utility) Mini-PCI Cards: *Broadcom BCM4309 (Requires custom driver) Realtek RTL8180L *Known to cause boot failures. This is likely related to the fact the card itself was originally meant for Windows 2000 and later. To fix the problem, resources may need to be modified. USB Adapters: Sagem XG-760N (Drivers + Utility!) Sagem XG-760A NetGear WG111v2 (Use driver version 4.0.0! Click here for drivers! Beware, reported to cause windows to freeze!) Wireless Routers: TL-WR802N (Can be downgraded to 64/128/152-bit WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK! Supports Windows 98!) Needs to be tested! WPA Supplicant (Includes WPA2! An older version needs to be tested!) Windows 2000 and later (KernelEx will NOT work): Boingo Wireless Utility Name any working WPA2 Wireless Utilities, Cards, Cardbus', USB Adapters, etc!
  19. I had to use system restore for the third time because the usb ports won't being recognized at all...no drivers were changed. My Windows ME laptop can recognize flash drives just fine, what the heck Microsoft? You can't design your own latest operating system to use basic usb technology properly, over time, that was introduced over 16 years ago?
  20. But still, thank you for providing me that wireless utility! Something is better than nothing, right? I'm gonna give up on ThinkVantage Access Connections, I did say the full message. If you google it for Windows 2000, you will find it I tried Boingo Wireless, and that only seems to support WEP
  21. Almost worked! After I KernelEx'd all the dll files individually and the applications, I got an error saying the resource dll was missing... 谢谢,耶稣爱你!Now I just need to find one WPA2 capable!!! <3
  22. I'll be waiting, hopefully it will work (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ I'm gonna be testing ThinkVantage Access Connections for Windows 2000, it supports Broadcom cards...I tested it with KernelEx (Dumb idea I know) and it says a Resource dll is missing. Reinstall application to avoid this problem. After restart I get "The ACHELPER.DLL is linked ro missing export ADVAPI32.DLL:RegOpenCurrentUser"
  23. Do I use the official driver or the one mentioned here?
  24. God gave you the gift <3
  25. Oh Jesus bless you!!! It works <3 The official drivers I found didn't work! I need a wireless utility manager so I can do network connections now
