open that case up and take a look inside. it is rare for a fan to die but i have seen it happen. there may also be alot of dust in there. either way, your temps should be half of that.

Its pretty easy to see where the lag comes from He has a Q6600 CPU with 3GB RAM so thats OK. Look at the specs for his PC. Gaming on a 24inch monitor with an 8400GS??? There you go. Like I said in my first post, a new GPU is needed and if your PSU is only a cheapo low watt model then a new one of those too. which is why i recommended a 4870/4890 in my first post

so its not internet lag, it would either be gpu. cpu, or ram. run taskmanager while playing a game, then when "lag" happens minimize the game and check out what the cpu and ram usage is.

i havnt used any codec packs since i switched to vlc media player a few years ago, give it a try. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

steam is the only place i buy games online. i would rather have the physics media though. for steam some games have DRM. but you do get unlimited installs.

you lag during gameplay? you need to define what you mean by lag. the word lag is normally associated with networks. if you want better gaming performance then as other have stated, upgrade the graphics card. for the resolution you have, get a 4870 or 4890 with 1GB vram.

there are some parts in a laptop that you should just not touch, and the cpu is one of them.

so thats what those folders are, i always wondered. linux shows them but windows doesnt.

laptops use less power since everything in it is lower powered than the parts in a desktop. most people don't need the power of a real desktop anymore and the portability of a laptop is a major plus for most people. what do you plan on doing on you new computer?

considering FF is using about 400mb for me right now with things open such as nod32, steam, utorrent, and a few other things, im using around 1.8GB. for everyone posting their memory usage, it only makes sense to get results of your normal usage. having nothing running it pointless because when is anyone running nothing? for some reason it seems as if win7 is using more memory than vista was for me. 4gb is just not enough anymore, thankfully i will have an i7 and 6gb ram in about a week.

why not connect just one computer to a gigabit port and see if there is any improvement?

i have been using nero for many years, i have recently switched over to imgburn though. nero just has way too much and the only thing i ever burn these days are ISOs of OSes or something of the similar.

you just made me try to open up a tab now, haha. i could have sworn that it worked but i guess i have been using ubuntu too much lately.. i would love to have a tab feature though, it would be nice if MS could add this sometime.

its almost sound as if you should get a new computer.. but try replacing the cables first.

I have owned a few Lian-Li and Antec cases and they are both great companies imo.
