You're very welcome.98SE2ME does not impair 98 SE functionality, especially multi-boot and MS-DOS. But you need to know about the currently unresolved bugs [see the "KNOWN BUGS + FIXES" chapter]: http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/READ1ST.TXT 98SE2ME options 1, 2 + 8 install WinME USB, Firewire + WDM Audio drivers. ok, I know what I did. I was supposed to click OK (or press the Enter key) when the Timezone dialog box pops up while running the Q931836 patch. instead I pressed the Esc key (same thing as clicking the Cancel button) and that's when things got screwed up [DOH!]. The US Pacific timezone was changed to "Casablanca". anyway, I changed the timezone back to US Pacific from the Timezone dialog box and clicked OK and things were back to normal. I didn't really like the idea of the INF file removing the TimeZoneInformation registry info and the KB931836 updates for WinXP & Win2003 do NOT do that. I have removed the delete code from the INF [so no more deleted reg values].So now it still works [but may *not* change DST to new date] even if user does not click OK right after install, as instructed. - Unofficial DST Update for Windows 95/OSR1/OSR2/98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME [68 KB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/Q931836.EXE - Unofficial DST Update for Windows 95/OSR1/OSR2/98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME [70 KB, Italian]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/IT931836.EXE HTH

Auto-Patcher For Windows 98se (English)
MDGx replied to soporific's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Can you post more details about what's wrong with WU access, and eventually how you fixed it [REG entries, DLLs, roots update problems etc]?I've also noticed that WU/WUC can't be accessed unless one reinstalls the newest roots update over and over whenever WU/WUC sites don't work??? Thanks. -
98 FE + 98 SE + ME updates + patches + (hot)fixes
MDGx replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Again, please understand that this package includes only fonts that can be downloaded/installed from M$ programs, updates, packs that can be found on the internet etc.TTFPAK does not include fonts that are only on setup/install CD-ROMs, or distributed solely by commercial/shareware software. If I would to add other [3rd party, free] fonts to TTFPAK, I should actually add more than 100 fonts, which [as you may have figured out] would add a lot to the size of the executable [TTFPAK is already ~ 4 MB]. And the purpose of this pack is to install only [newer/updated] fonts needed by the OS and/or OS components, like MS IE/OE, 3rd party web browsers etc. HTH -
You're right, we each have our preferences, for example, I've replaced that banner with my web site logo.

Win98 retail/Gold/RTM/FE (First Edition) canNOT be upgraded to Win98 SE, no matter which pack you install. Win98 can only be upgraded to 98 SP2: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=44732 Similarly, 98 SE SP2 is only for Win98 SE: http://exuberant.ms11.net/98sesp.html Win98 can be upgraded to Win98 SE only with a Win98 SE setup CD-ROM from M$. 98 FE + 98 SE + ME updates + patches + (hot)fixes
MDGx replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Theoretically the roots update should install on all Win9x editions with MS IE 4/5/6 installed, including Win95, but I don't have any of those OSes installed anymore, so I can't test.If anyone has Windows 95, 95a OSR1, 95B OSR 2.0/2.1 or 95C OSR 2.5 please test and post here results. Thanks. -

V4 Windows Update site no longer working
MDGx replied to erpdude8's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
From Anonymous author... Actually I thought of this too, and never uninstalled Q928090, but just installed the newest roots update as of January 31 2007 [this link now works *properly* with Win98 + ME: http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownlo...en/rootsupd.exe = and is newer than the roots update we were talking about in this forum a couple of weeks ago], and voila... now all these URLs work ok: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/ http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/ HTH -
I have found (finally, I hope) a command line tool that can be used with Win98/ME to adjust DST time zone unattended from within a BATch file. Windows XP SP2 Support Tools: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=838079 Direct download [4.7 MB, English]: http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/3...rtTools-ENU.exe Extract the CAB files using the /X parameter [if using 2000/XP/2003] or use WinZip or PowerArchiver or similar tool [if using 98/ME], and then extract timezone.exe from SUPPORT.CAB . This timezone.exe version *is* compatible with Win9x OSes: For US English Win95/98/ME OSes we need this command:TIMEZONE.EXE /S 02:0:2:03 02:0:1:11 The only problem is I didn't have time to fully test it. It appears to function properly under Win98 SE. What I've noticed, if it is run after the DST start time was changed [after March 11 2007 02:00 AM], it doesn't change these 2 registry values [example]: But if it is run before the DST start time kicks in [before March 11 2007], it does change those 2 reg values to [example]: Also, each time zone probably needs a different timezone.exe command.I'm still working on it, and will post here more results. The purpose of all this testing, is to add timezone.exe to the DST patches for Win95/98/ME, in order to make them fully automated: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#TZU Anybody wants to test this? Note: WinME-Defrag.exe in Win98SE breaks Money99!
MDGx replied to creopard's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Very much so [especially registry entries (?)], otherwise disk clusters/files/directories [even if deffective] have nothing to do with money99 or any other software program. The only thing that might happen if the money99 clusters or files are deffective, is that you might get an invalid/GPF/IPF/or similar error(s) because the money99 executable cannot find other files/directories it depends on for proper operation. Auto-Patcher For Windows 98se (English)
MDGx replied to soporific's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Does this update require Internet Explorer to be installed beforehand? All 98SE2ME options [except option 3] do not require IE, any version, only the one that installs as part of the OS [iE 5.0] when you first installed Windows 98 SE.But option 3 [which installs WinME explorer.exe, shell32.dll, comdlg32.dll, docprop*.dll, webvw.dll and a few others] requires IE 5.5 or newer: http://www.mdgx.com/toy.htm#IEX because WinME files installed by option 3 require it.
