  1. I have not experimented with small custer sizes because they slow down the drives/partitions considerably. It's a trade-off: more space + slow access speed opposite to less space + faster access speed. FYI: Undocumented FDISK switches: http://www.mdgx.com/secrets.htm#FDISK These PROs + CONs for FAT16 opposite FAT32: http://www.mdgx.com/secrets.htm#FAT32 are similar to FAT32 large opposite small clusters. 2. If you mean the Win95/98/ME fixes:Q929120.EXE [English] + IT929120.EXE [italian], the answer is yes. These are the unattended switches for all patches/(hot)fixes created using iexpress 6.xx [example]: Qxxxxxx.EXE /Q:C /R:N More info @ MS TechNet [look under "Using Command-Line Switches "]: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...7/z03ie6rk.mspx and @ MSKB article Q197147: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=197147 HTH
  3. Since these are both cumulative security updates for Internet Explorer 6 SP1, does that mean that the release of KB925454 has made the KB918899 update obsolete? Phil Yes, those updates are obsolete. That's why the links are broken = it's on purpose. Yes, KB918899 is obsolete, was replaced with IE925454.EXE . Current cumulative fixes always here: IE: http://www.mdgx.com/ietoy.htm#IEC OE: http://www.mdgx.com/ietoy.htm#OEC HTH
  4. Unfortunately I don't know of a way to click OK in an unattended installation for the new Time Zone updates.Workaround: But who wants to make an unattended install, needs to add this command line to tte batch/inf/whatever file after the Q929120.EXE /Q:C /R:N or similar line: RUNDLL32.EXE SHELL32.DLL,Control_RunDLL TIMEDATE.CPL and then instruct the user to click OK in the "Date/Time Properties" dialog box. Also, for this to work unattended, the SED file [i named it VS6SP6U.SED] needs to *NOT* have the BOLD line: The line above must be replaced with this one:PostInstallCmd=<none> Then the Q929120.EXE installer must be recompiled with the modded SED file [example]: IEXPRESS.EXE /N C:\TEMPINST\VS6SP6U.SED Edit: P.S.: If any1 needs the text file [Q929120.TXT] to recompile the installer: The text file can be modified for unattended installs:remove the "EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:" section. HTH
  5. Drugwash: I have deleted all INF + SED reboot directives [the rest is up to the advanced setup APIs], please try it again:Unofficial VS6 SP6 Runtime + ActiveX Controls Libraries (DLLs) for Windows 98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME [2.11 MB]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/VS6SP6U.EXE Thanks for your feedback. HTH

    98 to ME

The WinME interface which requires IE 5.5 or newer is only option 3.98SE2ME has a total of 8 options: http://www.mdgx.com/9s2m/READ1ST.TXT 1. ALL components listed below EXCEPT option 3. 2. ~ 700 WinME system files [main option]. 3. WinME Explorer, Shell + UI. 4. 98SE2ME boot Logos. 5. Better PFE Notepad replacement. 6. Patched Win98 SE Windows Explorer. 7. Patched WinME File Manager. 8. WinME USB, FireWire, Audio + WDM Drivers. HTH
  15. I've already answered this question:extract PCHEALTH.INF from WinME setup CD and then open it in Notepad to see the list of files. HTH
  16. WMVCORE.DLL from this fix belongs to WMP9:WMVCORE.DLL build 9.0.0.3353 Most files from 98MP10 are from WMP10. But this WMVCORE.DLL belongs into the "ultimate" WMP9 build, which I'm [still] working on [soon...]. HTH
  17. 1. Yes, 98MP10 installs all files every time you install it.It's not [at least not yet] as sophisticated as 98SE2ME. ;( 2. No. In order to keep your old files [backed up by 98MP10], you need to 1st uninstall 98MP10, and then reinstall it. Again, 98MP10 is not [at least not yet] as sophisticated as 98SE2ME. Maybe, in the future, I'll add file version check to make sure backups will not be overwritten. Please note that this will add to the file size, and 98MP10 is already 7.5 MB. BTW: I'm actually considering deleting the entire backup section from the INF, because all files seem to work ok so far. HTH

  19. Have you tried to delete %windir%\ShellIconCache and then shut down "normal": Start -> Shut Down -> Shut Down? This way ShellIconCache should be recreated to contain updated icons. HTH

  22. UPDATED · 1-9-2007 Please see the top of this topic for most recent update. ____________________________________ Updates: - Win98/98 SP1/98 SE SHELL32.DLL installed by SHELL98.EXE = updated to version 4.72.3812.634 = this is the real thing = all EXPLORER crashes are now gone, independent of free USER resources percentage. - WinME SHELL32.DLL installed by SHELLME.EXE = same version 5.50.4134.120 = "rearranged" for easier localization (translation into languages other than English). Enjoy.
  23. You're right. As I said in this post: http://www.msfn.org/board/?s=&showtopi...st&p=607811 The pair Q928388 + Q929120 [9x OSes] of patches and also the pair KB928388 + KB929120 [NTx OSes] are respectively identical. Take your pick, install the one you wish. Italian users: IT928388 installs also the fix from Q929120. P.S.: In the near future I'll delete one of them [probably the older KB number]. I'll also create another Italian IT929120 and will delete the older one [iT928388]. HTH
  24. Startup/malware/bloatware/spyware problems? This might help: http://www.mdgx.com/newtip2.htm#ANNOY HTH
  25. Unofficial Q929120.EXE and Q928388.EXE are identical. So are KB929210.EXE and KB928388.EXE . Italian IT928388.EXE also contains all DST updates [for 9x OSes = Italian language, of course]. None of them reboot at the end of install anymore = not necessary. See all DST updates here: http://www.mdgx.com/add.htm#TZU BTW: I've updated RUNHELP.EXE = added some more JavaScript code to "please" all browsers and to speed up HTML Help loading time in IE 5/6. Updated RUNHELP here: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#UPL HTH
