  4. Hello!
  5. Why can't people who want me to read their news, websites, blogs, whatever... why can't they please CENTER their material? Nothing is more annoying then having the text pushed all the way to left side of my screen. (not talking about MSFN, this place is centered pretty good, there are sitll margins, and the text is closer to the center than to the edges of my screen.) Then I visit other websites that have the menu on the left, therefore all the text is pushed to the right edge of the screen. Then I go back to another tab and the text is centered on the screen and it jars my eyeballs. Therefore I will not frequent those pages anymore. This goes for alot of blogs and news websites. I got to the point where I was adjusting the position of my monitor so the text is directly in front of my eyeballs so I'm not staring to the left or right side of my monitor for an hour. Not any more! I will no longer read webpages that don't have their content centered!!! If you want me to read it, put it in the middle of the screen. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's the perfect example of what I mean. And, ironic enough, it's a webpage called "Why You Should Never Center Align Paragraph Text." They're webpage is still tacky, hideous, and hard to read. What with the huge, ugly menu on the right taking up nearly a 1/3 of my screen. Pages like this one below are terrible!!! http://uxmovement.com/content/why-you-should-never-center-align-paragraph-text/ ^ Why you should never have text pushed all the way to one side of the screen.
  6. I'll make it Top 20 instead :-) I'll add another 10 11. The American (George Clooney) 12. Bend of the River (Jimmy Stewart) 13. Urban Cowboy (guilty pleasure here! Debra Winger is hot) 14. Napolean Dynamite 15. The Columbo episode when Johnny Cash kills his wife in an airplane crash and parachutes to safety!! 16. Prometheus 17. Fire in the Sky 18. Persued (Robert Mitchum, Teresa Wright) 19. Gladiator (Russsel Crowe) 20. Rio Grande
  7. Is that the animated one from the 80's, or the newer ones with Megan Fox? I almost was going to put down the first newer Michael Bay one. I realize they're not incredibly deep movies, but the special effects are the best I've ever seen, and they're fun to watch. quite true. There's some really good movies I've only seen once or twice... a third time would be a stretch. Like Schindler's List comes to mind. Or else you have to wait 5 or so years between viewings. Because the effectiveness wears off. Usually these types of movies fall into the depressing, not very uplifting category. I like them, but the shock wears off if you see it too many times. Basically, like any war movie falls into this category for me. I like The Thin Red Line, but only watch it every few years.
  8. I was going to say somehting, but I changed my mind.
  9. Not in any particular order, just ones that I like and can probably not get bored of watching. I like what I like. Return of the Jedi Legend of the Lost Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne) The Sea Gypsies Across the Great Divide Insomnia Jesus (Brian Deacon as Jesus) Children of a Lesser God North To Alaska Chrystal (starring Billy Bob Thornton)
  10. It probably works on Windows 3.1 too.
  11. They made a mistake with the release date of T2... it came out in 1991, not 1992. That was a day I fondly remember from my childhood. Saw it with my neighbor at Sehome 3 Cinemas. http://www.computerhistory.org/timeline/?year=1992 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminator_2:_Judgment_Day
  12. ^That stuff is older than I am So, like, in 85 years, if we're lucky, we'll get the Windows 9x source code. Maybe 100 years for XP :-)
  13. howdy Flasche I also boot, well, they're already booted by the time I get there, the Windows 7 computers at the public library! Sometimes I do need to use modern equipment... but then I'm quickly reminded of why I still prefer Windows ME LOL! I have an newer Ubuntu computer sitting in my closet. I've used it one time. I should probably just bite the bullet and put Windows 8 on it. Ah heck, I'll just wait until Windows 9 comes out :-) It'll be shock and awe, indeed. P.S. I bet I'll keep using Windows ME anyway.
  14. Format.com is available on the boot disk, Ooops, my bad. :-) I'm not too proud to admit when I'm mistaken about something.
  15. Why microsoft decided to drop the "/s" switch from Format.com.... who knows. It's one of those quirks/annoyances of Windows ME. Yes, I meant using the command prompt when "going into DOS." Also, I'm suggesting it would be nice to have a windows version of Diskcopy :-)What I originally meant, and should've explained better, is that it would be nice to have a simple "all-in-one" type floppy utility for Windows ME. Without having to use the command prompt. (But as we've already discussed above, it would be sort of pointless to create boot disks in a DOS shell - command prompt - in Windows ME, because there's no Format /S option anyway.) There probably are old 3rd party tools that do exactly what I'm thinking of, I just haven't seen any... and it's not like Freeware websites care about floppy disk utilities these days. Oh and, if you did use the plain standard Windows ME boot disk, and if you use Fdisk to delete/add partitions, those partitions still have to be formatted. And since there would be no Format.com available on the boot disk, you're only option would be to use the Windows installation CD - assuming you don't have a copy of FreeDOS laying around, or else install a whole different OS altoghter. You couldn't just leave the hard drive/partition "blank" or empty. It would still needed to be formatted by something to be of any use. Sorry for the confusion, but it's just Microsoft's bad idea for crippling the user and leaving off important utilties from the system/boot disk. See the problem that that creates, is they put Fdisk on there, but no Format.com.... so then, why add partitions or try to do anything like multi-booting? There wouldn't be anything to format other partitions with. It's like they don't want you to be able to do anything but just have one partition, one operating system, and that's going to be Windows ME only.
  16. Sure, I would be happy to. Windows ME doesn't have the "format a: /s" command. Hence, no going into DOS and creating a boot disk! Simple as that. You can do that from 98 and 95 (I presume), but not from Windows ME command prompt. Also, Format.com is not included when building a system disk via control panel (the only way to make a boot disk in WinMe), it must be copied manually later. It kinda defeats the purpose of having a system disk.... when you leave off format.com. Does it not? "Diskcopy.exe" is included in the c:\windows\command directory, but unless you go into DOS, there's no easier way to copy a bunch of floppies from Windows. Windows ME lacks a simple GUI tool that has these various features.
  17. Howdy... I always surf with javascript turned off. No "noscript" or anything, just plain turned off :-)
  18. Windows ME could use an easier way to format floppies, create system disks, and do floppy disk "stuff" in general. Microsoft burried that option for making system disk in the Add/Remove area of control panel for some reason, where nobody can find it. Just an idea :-)
  19. I already tried unplugging the optical drive and it didn't help. My friend mentioned that he was using his vacuum cleaner to suck the dust out of this thing. I'm thinking, well, that probably wasn't a good idea :-) A can of compressed air is all I ever use. Who knows what he banged into with the vacuum hose. My money situation has been extremely tight lately, therefore I haven't gotten around to buying the external hard drive reader as suggested by another poster. I never thought this "project" would be so darn complicated and annoying. Well, I'm off to Walmart and BestBuy to look for the price on USB hard drive readers! A nice Sunday afternoon chore :-)
  20. Congrats Problemchyld! Way to go, man. Keeping these old systems going!
