  1. This is quite a weird issue regarding Win2k on my system. i have it installed on the HDD. Now the M5a99fx pro r2.0 motherboard that I run is very similar to Phenomic's Sabertooth 990FX r2.0 board which ran 2k's audio just fine. If it helps, i cant run VGA as my GPU isn't supported at all. Will be moving to NVidia for that. So the problem goes as is. The installer runs, installes said device, then reboots. But the actual audio doesn't work, despite the device being present and all. This is an updated Win2k with UUR and all that. I also got my TL-WN722N working great from a Win2k driver from 2010. But the Audio strangely has problems. Any help?
  2. Yeah. i don't know what MS's intention was, but it certainly wasn't good. Especially considering they released this very rollup the same year the first multi core CPUs came out...
  3. If you wish to properly use Windows 2000 on any multiple core, thread, or CPU system, you must not install Update Rollup 1. This update has a bug which basically breaks proper Win2k multi-cpu support. it causes them to reach abnormally high temps. Instead, use Gurgelmeyer's USP5 and then Update Rollup 2, and then UUR or BWC ext. kernel. That's how I do it, and Win2k runs great with any multi-core setup, recognizing upto 8 cores flawlessly.
  4. I personally like The idea of DX12. However, I don't like how you need to install Windows 10 for it. Win10 simply doesn't appeal to me. Anyway, there was a port of DX10 from Windows Vista to XP before. So I'm wondering if the same can be done for Windows 7? Thanks.
  5. However AMD's Radeon is a different story. For graphics nVidia is the best in backwards compatibility by far. Thing is Intel uses a newer layout which could potentially confuse Win2k. AMD still uses the old northbridge/HT link system which hasn't ever caused problems with Windows 2000.
  6. AMD retains a more compatible platform overall, and is less expensive, which benefits consumers more. Intel may have the latest tech but they like to lock out OSes. Windows 8.x is an atrocity IMO.
  7. Perosnally i think Win2k is best off on AMD CPU platforms. The classic chipset layout + real cores are what helps.
  8. I really wonder what's the deal with the Windows NT4/2000 MPS kernel that causes these problems. On my ASUS M5A99FX Pro r2.0 win2k installed with all USB devices working (this is an AMD board mind you) and same with my mom's ASUS X200CA laptop. It seems ASUS (and MSI presumably) are the go-to brands for Win2k Support IMO.
  9. My mother is a Windows XP User. She loves XP, and honestly there's no reason to move to a newer OS given her daily tasks. Now that I've gotten the sound to work, its perfect. Also did the updates til 2019 patch. I would still be an XP user, but DX11 is a Vista+ exclusive. Beyond Vista, i really don't care for Windows. Although I am gonna test 10 IP in a VM just because.
  10. Well I did what bluebolt said and got drivers. I ran Windows XP updates, installed the drivers and it works! After a reboot however the sound went away. I fixed this by "updating the driver" again and not rebooting for 5 mins. Now sound works regardless of reboots. Also installed the XP "updates til 2019" patch and my mother's laptop is good to go.
  11. It seems that the SetThreadErrorMode is triggered by these new Catalyst drivers. Previously, I have not had a single error from this game. Smeezekitty, would it be possible to stub this call in a wrapper to fix these errors? They get annoying at times.
  12. The issue is that my friend uses the same software and gets no such errors. Why does it only happen in my case?
  13. Hello MSFN. Well I installed VMware workstation 10 and when I load up a VM, I get this error message: However, the virtual machine runs fine after this error. It gets annoying as I run many VMs at a time. Is there any solution to this? If it helps I'm using Smeezekitty's Unofficial Catalyst Omega driver fix.
  14. I have the powwrap.dll and i don't get anything related to powprof. So all good right? I'm using the stock catalyst control center that came with 15.4, and the 15.4 drivers which i used your custom wrappers in. Only issue comes up when i install those files that have to go into the core-static folder. Without them, everything is fine apart from the user32.dll error. Which is pretty minimal as i really never reboot the system. Anyway, thanks for the work you put in smeezekitty, its nice seeing a vista diehard like you around.
  15. I'm sort of confused as to what should I do here. Let me elaborate. I tried copying those files that are supposed to go into the Core-Static folder. WITHOUT those modded files placed in, it works BUT throws an error about user32.dll. WITH those modded files, it crashes as seen above and nothing is operable. Do these files actually fix the user32.dll error? Or are they meant for something else?
  16. Latest 15.4 "beta" works great with Omega driver fix. Unfortunately, whenever I load up CCC, this happens This is a fresh Vista install, this is the only driver that has ever run. I followed instructions correctly, but it still pops up. However, If i don't install those DLL fixes for CCC, it runs perfectly, albeit the user32.dll error
  17. To fix that you'll need to disable the com port in the BIOS as bluebolt did while installing 2K on Z97.
  18. Hello MSFN. I've been trying to install the drivers for my TP Link TL-WN722N, however I cannot seem to get them working. Does anyone have a possible solution for this? I've tried modding the .inf file, and I run the latest UUR daily.
  19. Win2k runs fine with a native 8 core CPU (like the FX-8350). I wonder what's the deal with HTT.
  20. Windows XP would work on an X99 system. Infact, overclockers do load WinXP on X99 systems to do their bench tests. Here is an example of such.
  21. Why not enable HT technology? Won't hurt to try.
  22. Windows Vista wasn't all that great in its RTM days, but SP2 has fixed it to the point that it's a very usable and viable OS. The server edition of it is also supported as long as Windows 7 is.
  23. Mostly the ones that will be released for server 2008 after 2017. As of now its not really an issue.
  24. I tried many registry edits myself to no avail so far. I'd like help on how to enable it. And yes, the Intel HD GPU drivers have an NT 6 section.
  25. I know it's been a while, but i've successfully gotten Intel HD Graphics to work on Vista. All you need to do is get the XP 32 or 64 bit drivers and copy the hardware ids in the .inf to the nt6 section. It installs and hardware acceleration is present. Though you'll need to manually enable aero through a reg hack.
