  1. I'd like to know if there are unofficial drivers for the APU graphics for Win2k. If not, can somebody make them? Thanks.
  2. I personally was never an XP guy myself. It gave me so many issues that I just gave up on it. Windows 2000, however, always remains robust and flexible. The OS runs great, and I don't have to do as much maintainence as you would have to on XP. Windows 2000 is the most stable OS I've ever used, and nothing can disprove that. But Server 2003, along with XP, should also be kept alive. I might consider 2003 as an option for when 2000 breathes its last.
  3. He has, but still, he couldn't get the extensuion to work.
  4. My friend wanted to use his Windows 2000 laptop with a second monitor and extend his desktop to it. But he sees the monitors listed here: Not where they're supposed to be. So, my question is, is it possible to mod the HD graphics driver to support that function? BTW the current (145111) HD Graphics driver is buggy and won't work with HD 3000. My friend uses 145110. So it would be kindly appreciated as to help.
  5. BWC. This is what I want to do. I want you to either make the Windows 7 driver work in Windows 2000, or transfer the hardware IDs of the Windows 7 driver to the Windows 2000 driver that I've given you. The Windows 2000 driver is not compatible - it needs the proper hardware IDs to work with the hardware. So can you please try and find a fix
  6. Is this for the Windows 7 driver? If so then great.
  7. That wasn't really what I was looking for, here I wish to put the proper hardware IDs from the Windows 7 driver, into the 2000/XP driver. From looking into driver .infs, Windows 7 uses the same IDs as XP or 2k would So can you help me on that, or should I wait for BWC?
  8. Well, should've gotten nVidia or Intel.
  9. My friend, who is installing Windows 2000 on his Dell Inspirion Core i3, needs a driver for the Cirrus Logic CS4213 HD audio. I have found a 2000/XP driver for the CS4207: http://www.cirrus.com/en/pubs/software/CS4207_WinXP_1-0-0-38.zip and here is the Windows 7 driver for the CS4213: http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER00536260M/3/Audio_Cirrus_W72_A00_Setup-C8F0X_ZPE.exe BWC, is it possible to use the hardware IDs of the Windows 7 driver in the 2000/XP driver? tomasz86 and blackwingcat, please help me, Together we can solve this issue. BTW here is a screenshot of my friend's laptop with Win2k: So far this has been our only drawback, the driver works with Win2k but there is no appropriate ID, so it does not function. Maybe if you can mod the .inf, we can get it going.
  10. Hello MSFN. I've found out an easy method of installing Office 2007 on Windows 2000. You'll need the Chrome tool from blackwingcat: here (or FCWIN2K found here) UUR daily (April 2013) And a copy of Office 2007. Pre-installation: Install UURollup v11 daily. You can get it from here. I would recommend installing the BlackWingCat Extended Kernel instead, found here. Step 1: Download and unpack the Chrome tool, or FCWIN2K from BWC. Step 2: Open the tool and click on "Set compatible registry" (not needed with FCWIN2K) Step 3: Start the Office 2007 installation. Select "Custom" and uncheck "Microsoft Groove". Everything else will work. Step 4: When installation is complete, go into the Chrome tool and hit "Clean up setting registry". (not needed with FCWIN2K) Done! You can now use Office 2007 on Windows 2000!
  11. OK. As of now I'm using Skype 4.2 which works, and I've found a workaround to the other programs.
  12. What about modding drivers or something of the sort? Can you try to solve my Realtek HD audio issues, since you know a lot about drivers? Basically software like Skype, Bandicam and Camtasia Studio don't properly work with RHDA...
  13. My PC only has PCI express slots. Apparently standard PCI is being phased out as we know it...
  14. Hello MSFN. I'm having audio-related issues with this integrated Realtek HD audio. So can any MSFN user recommend me a modern pci-e hd audio sound card that I can use with Windows 2000?
  15. Ok, I'm gonna get it. This is a driver issue, as a problem with sound recorder got rectified by updating the drivers. But maybe Skype 6.3 will work. EDIT: Still have audio problems, even after updating to Skype 6.3 I'm gonna downgrade the audio drivers from 2.71 to 2.6 Still nothing... Now I'm not sure what to do. EDIT: Newer Skype is the issue. My HDA works properly only with skype 4.2. So I have to use that.
  16. Gives me some sort of memory error. Can you point me to where I can find an installer that's Win2k compatible And the sound issues are my drivers, I've updated and the Sound recorder issue is gone, but the Skype issues remain. Maybe if I install older drivers I'll have good luck?
  17. It says that "skype cannot access your sound card". I'm also having issues with other software that "can't access my sound card". I also have an nVidia display audio driver installed, should I try to uninstall that? Please try and help me.
  18. Hello MSFN. I'm using Windows 2000 with UUR 11 and Skype 5.3. Now for some reason, the playback device does not work properly. I'd like to know if the drivers are messed up or something similar. Thanks. I'm using Realtek HD audio btw.
  19. When I try and go to standby with PAE enabled, and then resume, Windows 2000 lags to the point where it's unusable. Without PAE Standby works as it's supposed to, I've just resumed from standby using the standard kernel. Also it seems that 7-zip's benchmark is 1000 MIPS less in PAE. Honestly, even though PAE gives more RAM to the system, its performance and stability hit is enough for me to avoid it. I'm using Win2k standard kernel and living with 3.5GB of RAM, until a viable solution is found. My PC specs are in my sig.
  20. I'm using Windows 2000 now, it's absolutely amazing. I haven't seen it run with so much speed!
  21. The only issue I've gotten so far is with sfc.dll, avast! reports that everything else is a-ok.
  22. I see what you mean. Darn. Guess I'll have to use Maxthon, then. EDIT: Now on Maxthon, it's a miracle browser. I reccommend this to all Windows 2000 users. So many features, everything works correctly, etc. It's like a dream come true! Thumbs up to Maxthon!
  23. You don't need to be afraid of the Windows 2000 Extended Kernel. It's as stable and reliable as the standard Windows 2000 kernel. It's just an extension, not a replacement, so the rock-solid Windows 2000 kernel is still present. Anyway, the 8400 will work with Win2k drivers, the 210 however will most likely need the Extended Kernel.
  24. Exactly what kind of bug is this? With Java 7 I got Java bugs in FFox, but not Chrome...
  25. It's your choice. Personally I use Chrome 27 on my copy of Windows 2000. Gotta Love UUR. Anyway, you can use them, as long as you're careful and have a proper AV + FW (avast! + Comodo is nearly unstoppable) Also, WebKit based browsers (Chrome, Maxthon, Iron, Safari, QupZilla, Opera 15 etc.) are all good choices, since WebKit is lightweight and extremely Windows 2000 friendly (though MOST WebKit browsers require XP APIs or UUR)
