@JuMz - Yes, you will have to download it on your own. I'm guessing that WPA2 isn't widespread enough to push that update forward for everyone.

If the current setup doesn't work, try upgrading to Thibor15c. I've never really trusted Linksys' default firmware (don't really know why - just a gut feeling). It would be really really really helpful if you could find a friend with another wireless device (laptop, PDA, Nintendo DS, PSP, etc). If they're able to connect without problems, then you're one step closer to pinpointing the problem.

v9 was so-so... There wasn't anything really fantastic about it, and it took some getting used to when it came to the UI. Having never used the Media library in WMP, I was able to get that up and running in no time flat with WMP11. Is it just a version check in the installer of WMP11? That shouldn't be too much difficulty to get around...

I'm guessing that you've already tried to change the wireless security, and possibly even try to see if you can *gasp* turn it off... Have you tried all kinds of other settings for the wireless security?

What firmware are you running on the Linksys router? What wireless security are you running as well? just FYI, if you want to use WPA2, you'll need to install a special hotfix for it (Google will help you find it). Also, there is a known problem with the default Linksys firmware and BitTorrent (or any massive-multi-connection protocol). An update to Thibor15c should fix the problem (it does for me). I'm really sorry to hear that you've been having so many troubles with this router. I've got mine at home, and it's been nothing short of fantastic. I've been running Thibor15c right now for about a month, and no disconnects, or anything else wierd.

That's really good. I'd suggest making another one with more of the black background that you find in the program itself.

How exactly have they be unreliable? I haven't had any troubles with stability or reliability with NOD32 ever since I started using it. I've had a quick look at KAV6, but I haven't installed it on my primary system (only in VMware). It does seem like a big improvement over v5 though. I've always seen the difference between the two as this - NOD32 tries to work by preventing anything from happening (heuristics), while Kaspersky works by identifying specific threats (signatures). In most independent tests, these two have always come out as such. Kaspersky comes out (usually) on top in cleaning known viruses, and NOD32 comes out on top for the "in-the-wild" viruses. I think that regardless of which one you choose - you'll probably have made a good choice.

Well... if the installer itself doesn't work then it won't work during RunOnceEx. Did you make it yourself or find it somewhere else? Try making the installer yourself from the source. I'm sure that you can find the switches somewhere around here.

You don't suck - we all make mistakes like that from time to time. As for your Flash install problem - have you tested the installer in a regular Windows environment?
-
But why should it jump to the gun to start unloading dlls from memory? If you've got memory to spare, you might as well use it.

First off - you waited 4 hours before bumping your own thread. It's there and we'll see it even if it's not at the very very top of the forum. Bumping your own thread is generally frowned upon. Secondly - why are all your entries pointing to U: drive? Shouldn't they be to a particular hard drive or CD drive? How do you know ahead of time that it'll be U? When it comes to Office, I'm guessing that the quotes in your TRANSFORMS switch are what's stopping that. You can use a relative path (i.e. relative to the installer), so just put the filename of your transforms file and it should hopefully work better. Another look at the Unattended site might point you in the right direction as well. When it comes to the Novell client installer - we can't really help you there since we don't know what's inside that .bat file. The more info you can give us the better we can help. Have you made your own silent installer for Flash? I don't see any switches, so I'm guessing you made one yourself or found one. Have you tested it out to make sure it works?

I've got this up and running now and I must say - this is the first version of WMP that impresses me. WMP8, 9, and 10 were nothing to write home about. The interfaces were clunky and hard to follow, but this... this is very pretty.

Please post in the correct forum next time. Moved to Outlook forum.

I just tried this out - I opened up Skype, dialed my home number and the phone started ringing...this could get very interesting... Skype Homepage

If you've got three recovery CDs, then chances are it's an image recovery and you won't be installing Windows from scratch. What this means is that your computer will go back to exactly the way it was when you bought it (more or less). If you want to install Windows fresh, I would contact Sony for the original Windows CD. FYI, there might be a fee for this or there might not. I'm not sure what Sony's policy is on this.

AFAIK - there's no "SuperXP" available for download from Microsoft's website. I realize that there are certain trials on the Microsoft Website, but then again, most people don't know about them and I"m guessing close to 99% of downloaded versions of XP are illegitimate.

Like he said - please don't double post. It makes the forums messy and makes it harder to answer your question. Topic Closed

Sweet! Thanks for this XPero.

Link I thought this was pretty cool. All the sounds are the ones that he made during recording. Then everything was just mixed and spliced together to make it. B)

Moved to Beta forum. @Stunt - redo your sig. It's WAY too big. Either you do it or someone else will. (Max size is 300x100 or 4 lines of text - read the forum rules for details)

I'm probably gonna be getting a new (old) computer soon - Athlon 1GHz, 512MB. It'll just be sitting there not doing much... Count me in...

No discussion about warez here. Final warning. You are not supposed to "try a version of XP" that you haven't bought. If you don't like the security centre, then disable it! Like TheFlash said, slipstreaming SP2 will cause the least amount of headaches.

And how big of a difference are we talking here? A few milliseconds? Properly defragmented, you really shouldn't be noticing any difference in performeance between having 10GB of files and 20GB (given that you've got enough free space. As for Linux - most distributions come with full software packages. When you install Linux - you install everything. There are ways to customize the installer to get just the core system to save space. Do you know what every single file on your Win2K system does? Every single one? I'm guessing that there are about 10,000 or so for you to dig though...

[WLAN] Which router for streaming video files?
Zxian replied to Gantlett's topic in Networks and the Internet
Linksys WRT54G or GS model - before revision 5 hardware. As long as you can get the Linux versions of these, then you're set. Download Thibor's firmware and flash your router with it. You should have no troubles with that setup. I've got the WRT54G (rev 2) here at home, and it's rock solid as well. WPA2 works for me here, and there's no loss of connectivity.
