  1. If they've detected it now, then they've got 14 years to plan on how to avoid the collision. That's way more time than they had in Armageddon...
  2. So in otherwords, they're trying to make sure that their own OS ends up on their system as opposed to Linux...
  3. [quote name='kurt476' date='May 20 2005, 07:40 AM']Netscape has IE and Mozilla and firefox combined [right][post="323927"][/post][/right][/quote] Mind backing this up with some reasoning? Just saying that Netscape is better doesn't help someone who's looking for an alternative to their current browser. Features? Pros? Cons? Expandability?
  4. Vancouver, Canada... most beautiful place I've ever been to (and thats a lot of places for someone who's 20).
  5. Either Got2B or Ice. Ice is pretty expensive though... so it's only for good parties.
  6. I agree with prathapml in that having the Code tags accept BBcode might be a bad thing... there could be cases where your code needs square brackets (think of arrays in C/C++) and the BBcode tags would screw that up. I'd just say leave things as is.
  7. I don't know how Army did it, but I know you can do that with AveDesk and AveTunes. Have a look at the Aqua-Soft forums for more info. (Google is your friend)
  8. I'm gonna be seeing if I can turn my desktop into a server (that's basically what it is now... just not "officially"). I'll be adding a tracker on there as well (for experimentation and kicks). I'll let you know how things go so I can track this for you (if you want).
  9. Another thing... keep the posts on track. It's better for you to either make a new thread regarding this, or to PM someone (here, MCT). Someone should be able to find (ideally) a thread containing only material related to the title.
  10. And what might this be if I might ask? (I'll add my list here later tonight... It'll be something for me to do on the bus ride home...)
  11. I'll add another vote for NOD32. For all the reasons already mentioned.
  12. What do you mean, while you're doing your Unattended CD? While you're making it or while you're installing it? If it's while you're making it, viruses won't target installation files that are on your hard drive. To a virus, they're just like any other set of files. No need to worry there. (A virus has to know where to look for the files that it wants to infect/corrupt... since everyone has a different file structure...)
  13. There's not much choice when buying a laptop. Many of the "home-built" laptops have too many problems from incompatible hardware or just poor construction.
  14. I use it too! Really great service and very easy to set up.
  15. [offtopic] The PSP and PS3 are completely different systems... one of the great things about the PSP is where the second P comes in... portability. The ability to play games like Burnout3 on a bus/plane/anywhere is pretty slick. [/offtopic] I would still have a look at alternate players other than the iPod. If you're running a PC, iTunes lays down a whole bunch of crap for the iPod that just takes up endless resources.
  16. I've gotta say PS2. I prefer racing games to RPGs, and GT4 and the burnout series make my day. Also, I've got the slimline, and I can tell you that it's much more portable than the XBox, and possibly the GameCube (dunno about this... but it's **** portable). I can carry the console, 4 controllers, and several games in a box no bigger than your average shoebox. Not to mention that my investment in games for my old PSX and PS2 will come in handy when I buy the PS3. We don't even know if XBox360 will be backwards compatible...
  17. Maybe you should switch to Sygate if you don't like the feature set of Outpost free. It will handle just about everything on the list that you posted. The only restriction that it has (that I've found) that you get with the Pro version is the ability to set more than 20 Advanced Rules. I can live with that... Hope this helps!
  18. All of the listed Firewalls (you need to add Sygate there, DigeratiPrime) have a paid version and a freeware version. Perhaps you downloaded the full version of Outpost and it's asking you for registration?
  19. Especially with NOD32 2.5 released!
  20. I care about various file formats since I sometimes prefer to encode my songs in OGG Vorbis. It's got a higher quality/bitrate than MP3 does, and I like the fact that it's an open-source project.
  21. That should read: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor] "AutoRun"="C: && cd \" Note the single backslash. Otherwise you get an error (surprise...). Thanks for this though! Very nice! Cheers!
  22. The link doesn't work...
  23. What order did you install the drivers for the monitor and video card? I would recommend installing the video card first, and then the monitor. Most monitor drivers will "tell" the video card driver the resolution that they need to work properly. It could also (unfortunately) be a problem with the video card being incompatible. I would contact Dell support and nVidia for more answers.
  24. One thing that I can say about the PSP is that the firmware has many upgradable features. You can find extra features to add on fairly easily. The requirement to buy the memory sticks to store your music is kind of a drag though... and MemorySticks are pretty expensive as flash memory goes. The built in wifi is a definate selling point for the PSP though, since as you said, you can surf the web with it. Also, in the fall, Sony will be releasing a keyboard for it, so it will basically turn it into a pseudo-PDA if you want it to be. In the end, if you're in the market for a music player alone, then I'd go for the iPod Mini (or something equivalent... perhaps Neuros?). If you want something that can handle more than just MP3's, then I'd go for the PSP. One thing about the Neuros that brought me to it (I'm buying one later this summer when I have some money...) is the fact that it can play almost any file format out there. Not to mention that it has a built in FM transmitter, something that you have to buy extra for the iPod. The online support for it is also very good, as the developers participate on the forums. The 20GB model is only $50 USD more than the 4GB iPod, and you can use it as a portable hard drive as well (portable storage space is always nice). The only downside is that it's a bit bigger than the iPod. Check it out here. Hope this helps.
  25. Hahah... nice one... I had seen it before, but it's still hilarious to see. If you go to the main site, you see some really crazy videos...
