  1. Microsoft are trying to change over to the more simple /quiet /norestart which is more verbose to a user than the /Q /N etc. switches. I think it will become used more often, and probably a standard for Pre-SP3 hotfixes. (If I'm wrong please correct me)
  2. It's probably one of the hotfixes causing this. Check that you don't have a Media Center related hotfix in your collection.
  3. Its: [Version] Signature="$Windows NT$" MajorVersion=5 MinorVersion=2 BuildNumber=3790
  4. I don't personally use XPCREATE but I know for sure Windows has difficulty finding files/folders when they have spaces in them. So try to close them off with quotes: BOOTIMGFILE="C:\temp\XP Create\XPiso.iso"
  5. Did you try burning at a lower speed?
  6. We don't recommend slipstreaming the rollup anymore, and there's no speed advantage from it either. All you need is KB826939.exe in svcpack.inf with its switches.
  7. If you have a spare low-spec box lying around, I'd install a linux firewall distro on it. I've stuck by it for almost a year now and will never switch to a hardware router with all the horror stories I've read up about them freezing randomly or because its made too many connections.
  8. Have you tried MSI's Live Update 3 to detect and install the latest BIOS? http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mai..._liveupdate.php
  9. Um... be more specific? Did you make a new topic by accident when trying to reply?
  10. Moved to Application Switches forum
  11. Superseded by an OE Cumulative update released this month. Superseded by February 2004, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer 6 SP1 Its there on the list imbrod00, Check your hotfix list again and make sure there are no IE or OE cumulative updates except Feb '04 IE, and July '04 OE. Older cumulative updates interfere with the new ones (and qchain.exe never seems to help in this case). Make sure 839643 is installed seperately from the main DirectX 9 install (that means reboot between installations, this is important)
  12. It may take couple of hours to make your first Unattended Windows XP disc, but after that, updating a 3-6 month old unattended source should take only 10 mins at least, as you only need to add extra hotfixes, or replace applications with newer versions (and in most cases the switches stay the same) So in my opinion, it is worth it, even though I only use it on 2 home workstation PCs. It's also a good learning curve should you ever get a job in IT Administration.
  13. What many people don't know is that typing one word into the search box isn't enough and gives a broad number of results, most not even relevant. If I wanted to search for a post about Intel Raid Drivers, I would enter RAID +Intel +iastor.sys, so that it finds results for RAID including Intel and iastor.sys. Without these + symbols, each of the three words becomes an 'OR' and unrelevant results start showing. Just remember, this isn't as simple as Google! You have to be more specific in what you're searching for.
  14. That's probably because you defined the password in the autologon.reg? If you want it to prompt, autologon.reg shouldn't be used
  15. Looking forward to this!
  16. From Sussex UK, filled with pensioners At least Brighton is a great place to hang out
  17. Try this: ftp://ftp.blueyonder.co.uk/store2/blueyon...ls/3DMark03.exe no user/pass needed
  18. A reg file? Its moving unneeded plugins to a seperate folder that speeds up Adobe Reader, maybe this is what you're looking for: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=12638
  19. I'm not exactly sure, but it won't do any harm to leave it
  20. Good news, all 5 updates marked *NEW* (4 in Type1, and 1 in Type2) can be installed via svcpack.inf without any difficulty. Remove Q837009.exe from both svcpack.inf and your svcpack folder as this is superseded by the newer OE Update. Your final svcpack.inf may look something like this. Only the [setupHotfixesToRun] part is shown: [SetupHotfixesToRun] JS56NEN.exe /Q:A /R:N mdac.cmd KB823182.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB823353.exe /Q:A /R:N KB824105.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB824141.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB825119.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB826939.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB828035.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB828741.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB832894.exe /Q:A /R:N KB831167.exe /Q:A /R:N KB835732.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB837001.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB839645.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB840315.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB840374.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB841873.exe /Q /N /Z /O KB842773.exe /Q /N /Z /O WMP9MM2.exe KB828026.exe /Q /N /Z /O DX9NTopk.exe
  21. I'm testing them all at the moment, will update main hotfix list when ready.
