I agree somewhat with some points. The kidish theme is do to the colorful tables, beveled edges, and "WMP9 curves". Its still good, but it needs to match the forum as well, as it is now too much contrast. I personally perfer this look: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/epi...SFN/msfn_ss.png

VERY NICE! NOW DO THE FORUMS! The only thing I would like is a big button on the front page for the forums!

Thanks for the helpful reply Yzöwl. Im just playing with Windows to see what the minimum services needed are for Basic Computing. Some things may not work with these services disabled, but I'm having no trouble so far with my software at all (Firefox, Thunderbird, Zonealarm, Office). I compiled that list myself, thats explains the errors, and 'useless' entries (FIXED). I am only posting these risky tweaks because i havent seen a complete list elsewhere.

I voted no I dont like Longhorn, at least at this time. I really do like XP, minus the Forced Internet Explorer, and some other things. I doubt I'll switch to Longhorn when it first comes out, unless there are some REAL changes. Already Im counting on nuhi and nlite to de-bloat Longhorn when it RTMs. Untill then I will continue using XP and probably more of Linux.

Ive been using the OOo_1.9.m69_native_Win32Intel_install for a while and I love it! OpenOffice 2.0 Snapshot Builds. http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html If you prefer Torrents: http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/bit...t/download.html Its soo much better than 1.1 imo. Plus I think it has watcha looking for, an MSI Installer. B) I havent tried it, but try running an Administrative Install, and then use the MSI silent switch.

so true lylo, i have a freind with an xbox who Im guessing is brainwashed by all the advertisements in gaming magazines and on tv, and often feels a need to spontaneously tout the superiority of his xbox for no apparent cause. I see it everywhere, and its just stupid. Halo(s) is 1 game, its not perfect, what Halo(s) really is IS branding. Microsoft needs to keep its xbox owners happy despite them not having any other good games. Halo = Hype. The Xbox and PS2 really LACK EXCLUSIVE titles, most are already on PC, with better graphics, etc. We actually own a gamecube here, its a better system for the family, the wavebird controllers are excellent, its better for traveling, and the games are genuine, i see no reason to own an xbox/ps2 since i already have a very good pc. [EDIT] I also want to point out something MavereX has said, that I've seen and heard from more than one person. Why are people becoming insecure of their sex over a video game system, particulary xbox owners and subscribers? Marketing? This is quite an adolescent position.

Im having trouble setting Internet Explorer's Security Level for the Internet Zone. I want to set the Default Security Level to HIGH, not Medium, and unattended of course. I did search a bit, I'd hoped it was possible with winnt, but it sounds like I may need to use gpedit and then apply registry tweaks, but its a bit confusing. I did come across a thread about IEAK6 which may be helpful. Hope someone here already knows how to do this.

New Part Human-Part Animal Species being created!
DigeratiPrime replied to indianarchie's topic in General Discussion
I read an article once about chimeras, which i used for some project in high school, i can't remember anything about it though. I know that this does happen in nature, though its very limited, such as wolf+dog, etc. I dont like the idea of creating a frankenstein though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimera_(animal) As for the borgish stuff, I dont know, but I think people will some mixing of man and machine is due, no almost certain, before the end of this century. -
New Part Human-Part Animal Species being created!
DigeratiPrime replied to indianarchie's topic in General Discussion
i get 4 science magazines a month, and didnt see that one. But Popular Science did have a similiar article last issue: http://www.popsci.com/popsci/medicine/arti...1014147,00.html "We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own." -
that looks good, but how do you know all the names for each service? Is there a list somewhere?

Customize Toolbar Tweak - Add Delete Button Etc
DigeratiPrime replied to DigeratiPrime's topic in Windows Tips 'n' Tweaks
Thank you Aston, Im a bit late in replying, but your reg key was helpful. However that one also adds the 'Copy' and 'Paste' Buttons to the Toolbar So I removed them, and exported the same key and got something that works. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Adds the Delete button to the Explorer Toolbar [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar] "{710EB7A1-45ED-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D}"=hex:07,00,00,00,ee,03,00,00,7e,69,79,\ 1e,c5,9c,d1,11,a8,3f,00,c0,4f,c9,9d,61,20,01,00,00,40,00,00,00,ef,03,00,00,\ 7e,69,79,1e,c5,9c,d1,11,a8,3f,00,c0,4f,c9,9d,61,21,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,f3,\ 03,00,00,7e,69,79,1e,c5,9c,d1,11,a8,3f,00,c0,4f,c9,9d,61,30,01,00,00,04,00,\ 00,00,f6,03,00,00,7e,69,79,1e,c5,9c,d1,11,a8,3f,00,c0,4f,c9,9d,61,23,01,00,\ 00,44,00,00,00,f7,03,00,00,7e,69,79,1e,c5,9c,d1,11,a8,3f,00,c0,4f,c9,9d,61,\ 33,01,00,00,44,00,00,00,fb,03,00,00,a1,b7,0e,71,ed,45,d0,11,92,4a,00,20,af,\ c7,ac,4d,31,70,00,00,04,00,00,00,fe,03,00,00,a1,b7,0e,71,ed,45,d0,11,92,4a,\ 00,20,af,c7,ac,4d,11,70,00,00,04,00,00,00 -

Is Firefox & Thunderbird better than IE & Outlook?
DigeratiPrime replied to m8E's topic in Networks and the Internet
Im Hardcore Firefox, but new to Thunderbird. Is there a legal reason we cannot get Hotmail in Thunderbird, or a technical reason? I wonder if someone can make a 'hotmail popper' extension. Otherwise the hotmail webmail has gotten better at least. -
does anyone know or have experience with disabling Internet Explorer? I will probably try removing the main components as prathapml suggested, but is there software or some tweak that will prevent Windows Explorer/Internet Explorer from accessing the internet or loading web pages? Anything!?
-
honestly the first though i had was, oh no google is going for pr0n search, the end is near. lol But I just tried "BBC" and that was cool. The Google global television archives hmm... Neat trick, no, ingenious, how it searches through the closed captioning text.

I know what your saying but let me be honest, first no offense, but ive lost my patience with people still using IE. Its the number 1 cause of all problems. I really mean that too. You should always try using google to find answers by yourself. I just tried searching for "windows explorer system clock" and it immediately found answers. For me it is the 3rd search result "Google Answers: System Clock Error Code - Windows XP". Let us know how it goes. Good Luck.
