  1. It's really easy to create a hit counter using PHP. It only takes a few lines of code, but to maximize the potential, it is best to integrate the hit-counter code into your website. I therefore strongly recommend that you learn PHP or another scripting language that is allowed on your website. If you are thinking of buying a hit-counter, please do not. It is going to be an absolute waste of money. Hotscripts.com is a great PHP resource if you don't want to take the time to learn PHP. Some of the best software on the Internet is free, by the way.
  2. I bet it was a sharp employee that thought he could outsmart the system because he has a free account.
  3. Hello all you Java developers (it doesn't seem that this forum is getting any activity, as I've posted three topics and neither have been replied to) After frantically searching the Internet for Windows XP-compatible icons for Java files and Class files, I turned up in vain. Sure, I could use the proprietary icons provided with a Java editing environment, but I don't like any editor except JCreator, and I don't like JCreator's icons. So, I developed my own. javaIcons.zip
  4. Actually, creating a driver for Gamehead's paperclip would be a great idea. If you have two, then we can create a driver that changes the background of the desktop based on whether or not the two paperclips are touching. I shall call that ... ClipUSB B)
  5. It's not that long. If you don't have a .NET account, then it's about time to register. Almost everything MS-wise is going .NET Passport, so just use that. It takes longer to register for the MSFN forum than it does for that.
  6. Just downloaded MS Visual Basic 2005 Beta. Pretty nice GUI, but a bit slow on some selections (and I have a Pentiun 4 3.2GHz HT, so that shouldn't be a problem). Each property menu is different, but if you are looking to make something *real* fast, this is the way to do it! In the process of downloading J#, too.

    Doom 3

Wow, that is just something. I think it is a waste of my bandwidth.
  8. The best thing to do, is since there are very few people in the world that use the screen resolution less than 800x600, I suggest making a fixed-width table that is 790 pixels wide. Then, put all your content in that. Also, add a background pattern or color for the most of us, who have larger screen resolutions. For example, here is a site that does pretty nice job. I suggest looking at its code.
  9. Well, you gotta have a fast internet connection, for one. Then, you have to have a good OS, "Windows XP Home" is not recommended. Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro, Windows 2003 Server, or any deriviative of Linux should be your best choice. If you have Windows, which I guess is the case, go to http://httpd.apache.org and downlaod the software. Read all the readme's. If you want to use a server technology, go to http://www.php.net and http://www.mysql.com to download the Hypertext Preprocessor and MySQL databases, respectively. Once you have everything set up, go to Start - Run - "cmd" Type ipconfig One of those IP addresses will be your external IP address. From then on, it's as they say, history. To note, there is much more to web server running than that. There have been books written on how to run a server, so my suggestion is you go out to your local library and search for a book on Windows 2000 or PHP.
  10. I want to know if it is possible to create an anonymous Java class that extends another class. For example addWindowListener(new WindowDestroyer() extends WindowAdapter { public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e) { System.exit(0); } });
  11. Nice wallpapers, but what I want to know is where you got that high-res Windows XP logo. I've been wanting to do some graphics design using this logo myself, but I couldn't find it anywhere.
  12. I drink Hot Chocolade, or as all thee Englishmen would see it fit - I consume Cocoa beverages quite often. Coffee is nasty without milk and sugar, and even then it's like drugs - addictive and it makes you hyperactive. That's not to say I don't like the taste, I just stay away from it because I see so many people go down in misery of this terrible habit. Hot Chocolade (Cocoa) is so much healthier, especially Ovaltine, because they add various vitamins, not a lot, but they do. It is also very tasty. Hmm. I think I'll go make myself some.
  13. I know this doesn't look like much of advice, but I would just wait until that popup goes up again. I thought it was in the Accessories, but I can't find it there. I redid my whole computer the other day, and Windows didn't need me to activate it. Maybe it's SP2. Look in Accessories -> System Tools for something like Activate Windows.
  14. Hey, that's harsh. Be helpful, not insulting.
  15. People, don't offer him alternatives when he wants the real thing. He wants the zipfldr.dll extension and wants to see if it would be possible. Personally, I hate WinRAR - it is not free, its icons are terrible, and its UI is not that great either. Heck, I want to know if it is possible to have zipfldr.dll capability for other formats.
  16. Do all your other USB devices work?
  17. I wasn't sure of where to post this, but I guess I've decided now. I own laptop with Windows XP SP2 and have Verizon DSL. It comes with the Westell 2200 DSL modem. I was wondering about the following problem I've been having: Whenever I disconnect the Westell modem without disconnecting from Verizon DSL (I use the NIC Ethernet option over the USB), my computer freezes, and in no way am I able to recover my data, nor is the mouse even allowed to move. I must do a reboot. I was wondering if anybody else has this same problem or if anybody knows of a fix.
  18. Well, you can't really get wireless Internet service. What you can get, though, is Interntet Service such as DSL or Cable and connect it to a wireless router, such as the Linksys Router and the corresponding Network adapter. As of ISP's, I use Verizon Online DSL and am very happy with my service. The upload speed isn't the greatest, but it is still a great bargain. If you want something really fast, I suggest Cox cable, which has just updated to 5 Mbps on their fastest service. Pretty nice.
  19. Could you elaborate? Are you wanting a site that has servers that are fast enough for you new DSL? Am I understanding you correctly?
  20. Come on, people, I've seen Jupiter being sold on E-bay.
  21. Actually, ZipGenius does not handle ISO's.
  22. Ah, so that's what you wanted to do. To tell you the truth, I have never needed to do that, and therefore don't know how to. I guess the forum is right, but there still should be a way to do that with a skinning tool. Hm......
  23. A picture says a thousand words: EDIT: sorry about screwing up the table, moderators.
  24. I guess it is about time I did that.
