  1. This is why I asked you if you ever looked at the link I gave you .
  2. That´s good to hear .
  3. http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...duct_uid=131050 Did you ever look?
  4. http://www.promise.com/support/download/do...s=100&go=GO http://www.hitachigst.com/portal/site/en/m...5c1a70eac4f0a0/ To keep you from having doubts .
  5. I have to correct you on that, most of the controllers support it, but brands like WD and Seagate didn’t, but Hitachi for example did .
  6. I would forget about extra software. Different brands have build in access protection. Unless a person is losing or heavily burning a finger the SanDisk Cruzer® Profile USB Flash Drive would be good option; No password needed just a finger print .
  7. To test them just use an internal connector and an IDE/PATA cable, you will spend nothing on that for sure.
  8. It seems that the Desktop Search Tool messes up computers a bit so I’m not surprised its killing the search function in outlook or doesn’t let your computer shut down e.g. you have to kill a task manual. This is just side information; I don’t use Outlook nor the Desktop Search Tool.
  9. Only the service packs indeed.
  10. Here we go: Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L, all solid capacitors and the latest iNTEL chipset good for 45nm CPUs and 1333MHz FSB. CPU: Core 2 2160, or if you already can get one: 2180 @ 2.0GHz. Just half the cache of the E4xx0 series but same structure but a much lower price. VGA: 7900GS/x1950GT, cost less and are not that much slower then the 7900GT. RAM: Just plain and simple ADATA 1GB 800MHz DDR2 CAS5 1.8-1.85volt RAM, can be tweaked without getting to warm to 1000MHz. Low budget? Then forget the Q6600 .
  11. It could help if you posted in the right forum part and gave it some time . --- Topic moved ---
  12. You could also play around with Messenger Plus, more info here.
  13. The nVidia 8500GT isn’t for real gaming; like Zxian said it’s better to go with an nVidia 8600GT and up. I would suggest an ATi x1950GT or a 7900GS, both 256MB GDDR3 or in some cases it’s just a few bucks more on the ATi x1950GT for 512MB witch could come in handy when games use to big textures. I would go quad core by the way… Check out these links: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...duct_uid=131050 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=103153
  14. You could use the 2 drives on one PATA cable and go for a new optical drive on SATA. In general the ASUS P5K would be a great motherboard for it’s price. The E6850 is a bit overpriced compared to the E6750 witch is just 12.5% max. slower at stock speeds. An other option would be the Quad cored Q6600, but I don’t know what applications you run. A good compare you can find here. They compare a Quad cored 2.4GHz CPU with a Dual cored 3.0GHz CPU.
  15. I would say X2 4200 2.2GHz, 55 bucks cheaper then an Opteron (5 bucks for the thermal-paste). Remember that the X2 is OEM, no cooler included so get yourself some thermal-paste and clean off the old thermal-pad or so that came with the cooler/CPU that you have now.
  16. Yes you can, any micro-ATX motherboard will fit but to make sure, can you make a picture or 2 of it?
  17. Still warrantee on it? Take it back. No warrantee? Buy a new one and we can help you to pick one if you like. Model name would be welcome …
  18. SATA what? Sales talk, we talked about it before . I see your pictures fooled me, but I’m happy that it’s fits. I don’t want to know if you really $hit your pants .
  19. I’m sure it was more, next time use a bot too or bid a little higher .
  20. You could indeed build a server and it could be a pain in the bottom. Software like ClarckConnect (Linux based, stand-alone) can do it, but I don’t remember if the free version can do Load Balancing of 2 WAN lines. I would take a dual WAN router; Symantec VPN 200, Nexland Pro800, BroDigit NFR3024, Hawking FR24, Xincom XC-DPG402, Xincom XC-DPG502, Xincom XC-DPG602, OvisLink MN200, HotBrick Firewall VPN 600/2, HotBrick Firewall VPN 1200/2, ZyXel ZyWall 35, Linksys RV082, Edimax BR-6104K, Xterasys XR-4106, and Pheenet BIG-02/4... And there are more, I prefer LinkSYS (SISCO now) my self but it’s not the cheapest. Not always, you can Load-Balance incoming and outgoing xDSL lines, you have to try it.
  21. Vibrations of the PSU fan transferred to the heatsink and back to the CPU, it would just be better if the cooler has some play.
  22. Bad news, it will touch your PSU. The first picture shows that you have 52mm to 55mm (hard to see) from the hearth of the iNTEL cooler to the PSU. The cooler you bought is 110*110 and high 150mm, so you need 55mm of space there plus 5mm to stay far enough from the PSU. It could be that you are lucky, that you can play a little with the base and clips so you can get it fit but I doubt it. What case are you using now? Can you give us a measurement from the center of the iNTEL cooler up to the PSU please...
  23. hum... okay . First, we need to know where you like to buy your new parts; if you have a site, it would be very handy. After that, we need to know what you are going to do with it, what programs and what OS you like to use. Do you want to game with it? Do you already have a screen? We always need more info; else, we cannot help you out well. Forget what your brother told you, they look like random picks to me and most are outdated...
  24. Naa, forget it, its way to hard the first time you do it. I did it before with many Socket 462 motherboards, broken clips that hold the CPU cooler in place. I could fix 9 out of 10 or so, and that after practicing on 5 that I completely destroyed . New mobo, no other way...
  25. Yes it is Socket 478. If you were sure that the hard disk, RAM, optical drive, power supply are okay, I would replace that motherboard although there is no visual defect. It’s not common that a CPU dies, well at least not as fast as a motherboard.
