  1. Just check it first in an other PC...
  2. * taken form the specs of the LG L204WS-SFRight... in contrast to what? I would take the Samsung 19" as you don’t want a 20"...
  3. It could be that the BIOS slows down the bus speed when the system doesn´t start well. I think that motherboard has become bad, and I´m not surprised with that; it´s a PC-chips mobo. I would replace the mobo and the CPU, just sell the CPU again on ebay or so and get yourself a motherboard+CPU combo that has DDR(1) support. I would not replace the Socket 462 any more, only when you can get them very cheap...
  4. Try to clean the lens first, if that doesn´t help your drive is bad or your Windows OS has gone bad...
  5. lol
  6. Just put the cooling paste on the small black hingy, called the core by the way , a thin film will be okay. To clean the pad or paste I use tinner and alcohol after that.
  7. You had AHCI on your older mobo? What chipset was used? To answer you question, look here. By the way, no chance of swapping that mobo for a RAID version in the shop?
  8. You can´t normaly, but it could help if you give us the model name. If it´s just a simple home use scanner then forget it .
  9. Hi spacesurfer, Sadly, AHCI doesn’t work on that chipset, only on the RAID version, nmX.Memnoch posted something about it here. So, the thing you will be missing, but isn’t a big deal really for normal users, is NCQ. I wish that we had that info earlier, then we would have told you to get the RAID version of that Southbridge...
  10. Check the "Scheduled tasks" and add or remove any thing you like there, I think you needed this?
  11. Naa, 2GB should be enough for web design, not a picture of 2*2 meters at 300dpi with loads of layers or so . I’m sure a new install on that PC would do the trick if it feels slow. By the way, I would not buy a Asus Striker Extreme: That’s for people who OC a lot. But then, you are better of with a 965P or a P35 based motherboard .
  12. I think you have to get used to a mouse like MX Air™ Rechargeable Cordless Air Mouse. What are you going to do with it? almost looks like an advanced Wii controller to me .
  13. uATX, so are we talking about the small form factor PSU or the "standard" PSU size?
  14. Well, I said AMD (when no OCing), but with the aggressive price and some tweaking/OCing of that E2180, iNTEL could be a better choice although I have MartinL to OC his CPU a bit .
  15. Get your self a socket 775 now, so you can write something on it when your post count is 775 . I think It’s better to find your self a second computer like that and make from 2 one, or just upgrade, there are still upgrades that will work with W98SE...
  16. The ATi 1950xx series are cheap now, way better then the HD26x0xx series, but we would like to see how tight your budget is... Newegg only sells in the USA....
  17. I know that the P5K without RAID supports NCQ for example... But you are right, something IS fishy here...
  18. Now, this is the other option: Swap the above posted CPU and mobo with: - GA-P35C-DS3R (rev. 2.0) - iNTEL Core2 E2180
  19. Thank you nmX.Memnoch, as you can see it wasn’t ASUS his fault, and I posted that many time before. Again, thank you for the tip, this info is very welcome for ANY one who wants a new iNTEL based system with FSB of 1333MHz / 45nm CPU die.
  20. That would be fine with us, correct yourself if you like... Just don’t ask questions you already know, why a 4:3 screen is more expensive to produce then a 16:10 screen, you know it has a bigger glass area.
  21. As usual, Compaq messed up with there motherboard/BIOS design. The i845 chipset supports indeed PCI 2.2 so the chipset isn’t the problem. I would pull out all the PCI cards and see if it works then, but if the SCSI card is needed then try that one in a different sloth...
  22. Nice list, 499 (x3100) vs. 1821 (ATi x1600) points in 3Dmark06, even the x1300 is 12% faster with 560 points. I guess you overlooked something and I don’t know if this list shows the score with the newest drivers, but not even then an iNTEL x3100 can be compared to an ATi x1600 .
  23. We are talking about pixels, not visible aria .
  24. Now, we have a bunch of AMD haters here , I think I have to throw in my contra. Before we start to shout about things we don’t know, let’s take a look at the Dutch webshops what they sell. I would include Alternate and Mycom as well with those two other webshops as well. Give me some time to make a good list. I presume that there is NO overclocking involved here? --- EDIT --- Salland gives the best prices, so used there webshop to make a list: Sapphire RX1950pro 512MB 139 AMD 4400+ X2, 2.3GHz 78 Asus Moederbord M2N-SLI Deluxe 96 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB 74 G.Skill DDR2 Dual Channel 2048 MB, PC6400, 800 MHz 71 Lite-On DVD-RW LH-20A1H IDE 29 Antec Behuizing NSK4000 Zwart, Zilver, Geen Voeding, 1 X 120 Mm 38 Corsair Voeding VX450 450 Watt 66 Acer TFT AL1916WAs 19 Inch 165 Logitech Desktop Cordless MX 3200 Laser USB, Zwart 65 A total of 821 Euros incl. BTW. (VAT/TAX/IVA) excl. shipping... There are other options if it realy needs to be 700 Euros but first I want to see what you have to say about it .
  25. As usual, 500Watts doesn’t say any thing; it would help if you would give us the information on the side of the CPU, how many 12V lines and how much they can take each for example.
