  1. Not all programs put automatically tags to an MP3, older rippers that I used didn’t check on the web for a database. It doesn’t matter if you have legal issued MP3s or not.
  2. I think you can forget that motherboard. First you need to remove 939 pins of soldering point, you can do that with some chemicals but you need to know what you are doing, for sure you are going to destroy the board the first time you do it. Second, there is less to none stores that sell the sockets separated, so no luck with that either. So, I would start to look for a new board... sadly enough...
  3. Thank you, it´s known that hey have good neutral (something you can´t say from hardware sites in general) reviews there. Today I checked if they had more info on the 7200.11, but still no luck.
  4. I never fixed any IBM computer for the last years... More crappy Dells then others...
  5. Nice laptop, it will suit your needs. A good option would be to buy it directly with 2GB and if 2 hours of work on the battery isn’t enough then I would buy a second one with it.
  6. The link you gave us only shows a few drives, it’s not even complete Zxian. It would have been better to compare let’s say 6 brands/types of 500GB drives, 2 drives presented by each brand/type would be the minimum.
  7. Me? Or are you talking to awergh?
  8. Well, we only can read that there exists only one Harddrive brand for you . Nope, just a lot of people waiting for them…
  9. Okay, that’s good information. Check the capacitors on your motherboard, almost sure one of them popped. Normally they are flat on top but when defective they leak or show a dome on top. It is known that it’s almost the first part of a motherboard that breaks.
  10. You are getting closer now, but it could be the CPU too...
  11. Still I would contact Maxtor/Seagate and ask for a replacement. Some times, they replace the drive even when it’s out of warranty. The only cost you will have is that you need it to send to Ireland as I remember. Check the Seagate site to make a RMA report. (Any one correct me if my info is outdated please.)
  12. I would say that you are lucky to have a dad like that . Post some pictures when you have assembled the system, would be cool .
  13. What is the error or error code? How does the CD look, is it clean? What OS are you using? Did you disable any Windows Services? Give us the answers on that and we can help you more…
  14. Even if they can make 80% of the claimed speed, it’s still going to be one of the fastest drives ever based on SATA .
  15. Raptor... hum... ... Take a look at the Seagate 7200.11 series, that’s there last series. They have high sustained tranfer rates and are quiet. Some models even come with 32MB cache . Plus as a bonus, 5 years warranty...
  16. Nice setup as always . Now, let’s wait until people post that you did wrong; the ASUS mobo has "problems", you would have been better off buying a E6750 or Q6600, your GTX is over kill and just gives you a few FPS more then the GTS and the Thermaltake PSU is outdated and noisy... *takes a breath*... There, but… I wish I had your system . It could have been wilder...
  17. Don’t forget the ATA busses there, that’s the first ones that fails, like not being able to read from the HDD. Any way, can we sum up this topic?
  18. Yes, but we are talking about the link posted above, no voltage increase, just switching speeds...
  19. Never killed any by setting it on a higher speed, it just simply works or doesn’t. There are electronics that can’t take a higher switching speed, but never found this on CPUs... EDIT: By the way, does any one know what electrical design the Pentium Pro had? Guess what, 5Volts, and were sold as 3.3volt CPUs. Those babies could do more then 300MHz .
  20. Or just don’t use your computer, less risk . Does any one really think it matters when a CPU works 7 or 10 years? And why people don’t buy the lowest clocked ones that are made with the same process? Lower speeds are just made for the market remember that . So, it’s not a big risk if you try to OC that CPU when you know what you are doing, this is why I posted “It’s safe,…”. The page linked too didn’t rise the voltage at all, and someone should make a backup of his computer first that’s for sure because there could be data corruption of the hard disk in 0.09% or so…
  21. Makes it less boring I would say!
  22. OC is over clocking, rising clock-speeds above specifications of the factory . So, this isn’t a hardware problem then if it works in all other players except M$ media player 11. Moving this thread to the Windows XP forum part…
  23. Just some side text, but we are talking about some one that starts OCing, most of them don’t even know how to set FSB-divider although some options are on "auto". It’s known that nVidia was the fist one that released chipsets that had separated settings for each bus. Ps. nmX.Memnoch, I’m not correcting you (you know your stuff mostly), just some additional information, that’s all.
  24. Answer: The E6600, 9*266 vs 8*333. Lets say that the FSB can be set on 450MHz, so we get: E6600 - 9*450=4050MHz E6750 - 8*450=3600MHz This is why the 6550 isn´t so pupular now for OCing... So I play it back again, not to kick any one in the balls but which do you think is the better choice? EDIT: And as I said, there are shops that sell the E6600 cheaper now; it’s just the old stock that needs to pushed a bit...
