  1. Some sites, and not those from the manufacture, are asking cash to download drivers from there site, I hate that too... Free updates, drivers, firmware or software sold when it’s for free normally, even when it’s on CD/DVD. And then there is the “rule” and “law” part… I stand behind cluberti here, although M$ has a big mouth .
  2. First time I see this; there MUST be people who did this already by there self... Let’s see what Google shows up . --- EDIT --- Looks like a bended story; the driver of nVidia is not supporting SLI on X38 based systems but also it seems that still a hardware "bridge" is missing or need to be implemented on the board. All are rumors and I have seen none of the end-users run SLI on iNTEL based chipsets... Good source found here.
  3. Yes, express your self in good English please, I would like to know what is so bad about it. Knock your self out . But first post in your FEAR topic .

  5. Wal-Mart sell stuff people need to live (in some way ), Google is not needed to live . Seriously, virtual stuff doesn’t count that much in my eyes...
  6. err... The guy is saying: For a test system. A Celeron isn’t that bad, it’s just a single cored version of the Exxxx series. By the way, soon there will be dual cored Celerons too, just wait a few months
  7. Ow cool, another party is fine with me any time . Happy Birthday xper!
  8. He already bought his new screen and his new topic can be found here: http://www.msfn.org/board/_t105915.html A direct link to the 150US$ screen can be found here. I’m sure someone will find it useful .
  9. If you have a Windows 95/98(SE) CD or some older DOS floppies you can copy those files from there, the CD-ROM driver for dos is free. You could also take a look at FreeDOS.
  10. Exaggerating a bit here? Nothing will happen when you carefully touch the lens with a Q-tip and alcohol. Some people smoke, have computers close to the kitchen so sticky stuff can get to the lens. Like you clean your mirror reflex camera only with air .
  11. If software doesn’t work I would take a look at a cheap hardware solution like the LinkSYS SLM2005;It should be around 90 US$. You can use the 4 hardware queues function to lower the speed, or priority, on a port like TAiN posted here. It´s layer 2, no need for layer 3 here .
  12. Yes there are 2 lasers build in one optical unit so it looks like one lens. Don’t be scared of killing any thing so fast, if you are careful and do everything with calm, I’m almost sure you can do it. I would guess the do; almost no package at this moment shows any information about compatibility with 98. I would try http://club.cdfreaks.com/ ...
  13. Those are the ones from HP, but only sold in there gaming systems .
  14. You can clean the lens by opening the cover of the DVD-RW and use a Q-tip with alcohol to rub the lens clean (softly). I would post in the Windows 98 section asking about compatible burners with additional driver or not. The hardware will be compatible but Windows need to recognize it.
  15. I wish I could give you more information on this subject but you never know the facts until they pre-release information/products. The only thing I can say is that HP just came out with it and I think they will not make a chip that will be useless in just a few months... I would say in 9 to 12 months or even longer from now it could be that iNTEL will be SLI ready...
  16. Replace the PATA cable en set your drives on CS (cable Select). Moving this topic to the Hardware section .
  17. When you go to the LabelFlash website you see that providers like Memorex started to ship the media last month but I think you have to wait a few months more IF it will be as (non) popular as LightScribe...
  18. Still none of the iNTEL chipsets will support SLI. HP made his own (voodoo) chip that can be placed on an iNTEL based mobo but for now only the gaming systems of HP have it. Future iNTEL based boards will support SLI by the way...
  19. Looks like a dying DVD-RW. If you already cleaned the laser and tested in another computer and still have the problems I would look for another burner that supports 98(SE).
  20. It must be, same as a (P)(S)ATA/SCSI/SAS add-on card. It would be stupid if they didn’t make it like that...
  21. There demo, tjeez...
  22. Big screen and almost sure is has no dead pixels in it witch is normal for ACER screens. Just makes me wonder why you didn’t get the 22” widescreen version… The speakers are always a personal choice and I’m sure dirtwarrior doesn’t use them for booming games nor for loud music so why not go for the looks then .
  23. That´s sure not to expensive if there will be 4GB versions for some 150 US$... --- EDIT --- If it´s only the 640GB version... auch... 19,200 US$.
  24. Why are you bumping your topic? If it’s about the power line Ethernet, then post in the Network section please.
  25. I´ve tried VirtualBox and came to the conclusion that it doesn’t work 100% with DirectX/3D and that means I can not use it the way I want. I’m sorry to be too picky on these things but more and more apps, although they look 2D, use parts of the DirectX/3D; a clear example is Windows Media Player 11. I’m not the only one that found problems with this and it’s not VirtualBox his fault, it’s just how Windows XP is build up. By the way, I ran VirtualBox on XP with 2 virtual machines installed. This is another topic that is going on MSFN: http://www.msfn.org/board/virtual_software...me_t105877.html I’m thinking of using nLite to make a personalized XP without the DirectX/3D part and use it for basic apps only… --- EDIT --- Second thought: Why would I buy XP when the part I want is left out? I think I will go with Linux and use OpenOffice 2.x , Opera 9.x, MSN like messenger and some good Media player that supports streaming media from the net . So, back to Multi Seat Software… I’m still open for any thought by the way…
