  1. Welcome to THE forum . Could you give the exact model number please? Moving this to the XP section...
  2. Well, I would say the 2400+ CPU, more clocks on the same CPU structure, although we are talking about different cores here but with the same logic, would give you more "power". But, all depends on your applications, chipset, RAM, VGA and OS... And almost forgot, your HDD...
  3. Okay, wait a minute here... Those voltage drops are normal, and not caused by the PSU; it’s the motherboard that drops voltage when more Amperes are drawn. You guys really think a 12(v)*18(A) =216W PSU can’t pull a 65, 85 or 90W TDP CPU? My CPU, a E2180, at maxed out load doesn’t eat up more then 40W This Leaving enough power to the VGA card (planning on an 8800GT/GTX or the new ATi line when it comes out soon), let’s say a 120W max. HDD´s (each max 12W, but that’s not only on the 12V line) and a DVD-RW. The fans are using almost nothing (2.16W each for mine at full speed). So, my system uses about 180W on the 12V line max!
  4. Hi spacesurfer, I bought the same type of motherboard as you have, and thought I would clear some things up here. First, that AHCI: In the user manual you can see it only works for Vista. I tried it and it’s true, XP will give you the BSOD and Vista just runs fine with or without the AHCI. I tried if there is ANY speed difference between an enabled or disabled setting and guess what: There is no difference in speed, not even with the benchmarks although the readings show up a little different, but very little! S I wonder what is wrong with your system; You say it’s slower then your older system with i915 chipset... Did you set "SATA Port 0-1 Native Mode" on enabled? Second, the SM Bus: Just download the INF file from INTEL and install it. The SM will be installed. The beep, don’t know what to say about that, mine sound the same every time. Could be your speaker or so... By the way, I OCed my E2180 CPU to 3GHz (9*333) without setting the voltage higher on the CPU, 3.33Hz (10*333) needs more voltage and a "non-stock cooler". Any questions? Knock your self out .
  5. It´s showing you the correct info, the voltage drops a little under load too compared to it when idle and on 3.33GHz. Play a little with it and you will see what I’m talking about.
  6. Holy cow, This looks and works great! Thank you so much. Personally I don’t like vista how it works so I will stay or some time with XP, this Energize 2.0 makes for me the step to Vista take even longer . The only problem I encountered is the start-button: As you can see it eats up a part of the minimalized window underneath it. I don’t know if it’s possible just to offset the space a bit more? ** by the way, where is the bootscreen with the same style?
  7. If you're using dynamic pages (PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, etc) you will most definitely see a difference when using a robust disk sub-system. Besides, given the option in a production server you should always use RAID (but never RAID0). Off-site FTP backup, he can’t manage his own server physically, nor can he rebuild his array (I would be surprised if the let him)...
  8. Woes the women? Lindsay?
  9. You should change the question then and ask for themes and visual customization for XP… I don’t use any so I can’t help you; I rip it out of XP when I can .
  10. It’s one of those, not both...
  11. I’m selling it to people that don’t want to throw away there old CPU and stuff. I even have one running my self. It has a P4 2.4@3.0GHz and running stable. Forget the VGA card you have now, just keep the onboard VGA, its good enough to run most apps and even games up to 1024*768 like NFSU2 and so. But okay, we are talking about a server here, I know... By the way, it’s DDR1 OR DDR2, not both (but I think you saw that, just in case).
  12. I don´t know, it could be my English...
  13. Dude, read please, it supports DDR1 and DDR2. You said you need to buy RAM so I thought it would be better for you to go with DDR2 . It has onboard VGA… I forgot to say that the board is about 45US$ . So it would be only the motherboard that would be outdated, but it make a set with the CPU he has .
  14. All depends how many rows and columns your data base has, and apart of that how many users are digging in it and /or changing things. It could help if you made a good list of what is exactly running on those machines (or in the near future).
  15. 3 Minutes later, I think we have a record here! "Search and replace" function was used for sure.
  16. Read my longest post in your topic... again...
  17. Okay, here we go: Motherboard: P4M800PRO-M478 (V1.0) RAM: Just plain and simple 1GB DDR2 533 or 667MHz 1.8volt. PSU: CoolerMaster Extreme Power 500 Watt That case you picked out is made out of 0.5mm steel, but it’s constructed not to bad. I sell them here for my basic systems but they are a lot cheaper then in the USA. Don’t forget to buy some extra fans to keep your CPU and hard disks cool. Do you have a CPU cooler by the way? Any questions more about the product I posted, ask!
  18. Yes it will work fine, the x1950pro will not use more then 12V*15A=180Watts, in fact it uses an approximate 66(idle)+60(extra on load)=126 Watts.
  19. You will not get much out of RAID in your webserver. You could do it for safety, that’s true, but a backup with FTP every day would be better. I presume that the data size isn’t that big?
  20. Dell XPS 720 Desktop, check them out...
  21. I think no one in the software forum part will understand what you are doing so I moved it to Application Installs . Let’s see if some one here knows how to help you out...
  22. And why fix it when it’s not broken, you just want to make it better? Try software OC tools first I would say .
  23. err... hmmm, I have to tell them to translate it in English... or learn Dutch .
