  1. Are you talking about the blinking cursor? That would be normal on slower computers. Do a BIOS reset to defaults by the way...
  2. It's just nice to see how things have changed out here, plus it's a good laugh too at some pictures .
  3. Just wait till it burns out. But yes, I would ask tech-support what to do. Changing the heatsink is no option in my eyes...
  4. This is why we ask, and then surprise you .
  5. I second ripken204´s point, normal behavior for Windows Vista and 7.
  6. I have version 1.0 by the way, there is also 1.1 and 1.6, what ever the differences are. Normally the NB is set at 1.1v, I have mine at 1.2v. temperatures are some 6 to 14oC above ambient.
  7. Any thing to say about that?I would blame your RAM or motherboard for these serious problems too. Check for bad capacitors that were also used on those late S370 boards.
  8. Mine is not even warm, almost the same as the room temperature, and it's OCed too (just a low FSB). Perfect board I would say... EDIT: I don't know what BIOS I'm using now and the voltages in the BIOS, will post those in a bit.
  9. I would check connections inside the PC and looking for bad capacitors.
  10. Still it would give you the "?" mark, but yes, some modems use the soundchip indeed. Doesn't show a "?" mark and all seems to be installed he said.
  11. I'm sure you will find what gamehead200 said. By the way, it's easy to see in most notebooks as they hide wireless cards and modems behind some single screw taps. Modems normally come with a mark from the country it shipped too, so you can't officially use a modem made for the USA in Germany for example, this is why it's easy to swap them out. Who uses a MoDem any way these days .
  12. Freeze as in "stopping to respond and making noise when hitting any key"? "genuine intel x86 Family 6 model stepping 10" doesn't say much to me, you need to give us the speed in MHz for example, that's easy to find. Did you install all the latest drivers? Just try it again with the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility and Intel Application Accelerator.
  13. Are you sure about that? Did you check on the seagate site?
  14. Read the rules, that boot CD isn't on our "legal" list nor is Acronis for free last time I checked it... You have been warned.
  15. Sounds like digital interference, mostly on DMA lines. Set spread spectrum on in the BIOS and see if that helps. Due to OCing your chipset could need more voltage too and like you said it's close to the VGA card so give it another position if possible...
  16. Ow wait, I got some topics mixed up here. What PSU are you using now? By the way, your signature is too big (should be 35pix smaller in hight).
  17. What is the model number of that part and what brand?I'll place my bet on that .
  18. The beep code indicates the Video card.
  19. Most of the CPUs I use are OCed, but, I must say that you need a good base; the motherboard. The late AMD CPUs are cheap and OC about some 20-30% without much problems and Intel will do indeed way more when you get your self a CPU that has a FSB of 800MT/s and a high multiplier. When you go with a motherboard then keep just 1 thing in mind: Intel CPU with Intel chipset and AMD cpu with ATI/AMD chipset . We are here to help you out...
  20. Well have I ever!, So it was the darn CPU, that's highly unusual but o well, they have 4 cores and HT so the chance IS higher. I presume they just send you a replacement without paying for it?
  21. Is that not the 845PE?
  22. Forget to change the caps on that one, it's impossible to do that on that board. You need a lot of heat to get the whole ground plate hot enough to rip the capasitors off. You will melt other components and layers before it even gets hot enough . Been there New mobo, new case... and welcome to dell...
  23. *plop*
  24. Not that I can think of, the tray should buffer electronically charges, but set write cashing off else you could lose some data.
  25. That for sure .I've been thinking of building computers into the furniture but if you do you need some distance busings so air can flow behind the motherboard. Also, not painted MDF will slow down the airspeed as the surface is a bit rough compared to a painted surface.
