How about their new toys; OZC Z-drive P88. That's starting to look like it.

Glad I did some thing good, now, don't tell this to the support desk of that UPS .

Just Say NO! to Microsoft Security Essentials
puntoMX replied to mhmallory's topic in Software Hangout
Indeed it is, most people "live" more time at the office so they can call it their home .I install MS SE on every PC now for my customers, before it was AVG Free Ed., I can tell you that MS SE is faster and has a better detection rate over even paid for software, like NOD, McAffee, Norton (ow those guys were p***ed at MS!), and more... -
Hmm, that's strange, ACER net/note-books that came in could not share out of the box, they must have disabled it some where else.
-
Network shares too I beleve, you can't share a DIR with Starter "out of the box".

It's all about business, if you can't make money from it, it's trashed.

Strong language isn’t the problem, but foul language is. We actually don’t fight that much, at least a lot less than with Australian football (And now I hear the people from the USA/Canada say: “What? No protection?!”). Compressed air would have done wonders probably… Well, when you us it right… I always wondered why nLite and porn are so “close” to each other; Lite as in “less clothes” is indeed a somewhat good link between nLite and porn. It’s however not needed to nLite your OS to download porn. I see you are a religious man there… Well thank you, we do try to keep it as simple as it can be but some people do hit their limit or go far over that, which is epic in some cases. I fail to see the real question or answer part here, please rephrase your question or answer, but remember no foul language!

But what did you find out?
-
I don't think you can turn it "off", it's normally off until you use for example MSN messenger or Skype, but you can disable it for sure in the device manager. Why would you like to turn it off any way?
-
On what motherboard/chipset do you like to use them?
-
That's just lazy *ss, if the teachers were good teachers they would TEACH how to write well. But then, who knows how it will be in 10 years from now, IF we still use the plain paper; by then "writing" will be an art .Anyway, I'm faster in "writing" than "printing", printing I only use for technical stuff, a letter would be written. Most stuff I print on the printer by the way, and especially if it includes quotes from text on the computer.

Yeah, I'm walking some months behind I saw yesterday, so are products that just got an update some days ago. You made a good choice by the way, personaly I would wait a few years more to make the step to SSD. The TRIM command is a good step in the right direction, that I must say.
-
That's right, until they support the trim-command completely (for now only supported in Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 as far as I know) it will not use it's full potential. To make use of this TRIM-command you probably have to update your firmware as most of the firmwares that support the TRIM-command are just released by Intel and Samsung. EDIT: By the way, this has nothing to do with the throughput of the tests you guys made, but in real life it would matter a lot. Still none with the TRIM-command in the firmware, you have to wait a bit longer for that, but in most cases it's no big deal to update it before you install your OS on it. Hmm, I wonder if it does or that they just say so, my information is that most TRIM-command featured firmwares just came out, but I could walk behind the facts here (and it seems I am... sigh....).EDIT2: Reading this topic here now. Well, what I've seen is 2 years of 24/7 usage as an OS drive, let's say it be 3. But where did you get your info from?
-
Indeed, give it some 3 to 4GB and it will work fine.If you don't play the latest games at 1080p, a HD4650 is a good recommendation, it even works for most games up to 1366*768 at some 25-30FPS.

Crossfire will work indeed and 70CAD isn't much, just make sure that you test that card before you set it in crossfire .

Seagate 7200.12: any issues?
puntoMX replied to pointertovoid's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
For the last 6 months this is all we got on the 7200.12 drives, that not much so to say, so it would be safe to say that the current 7200.12 have no similar problems to the 7200.11. Just my 0.02 . -
Mostly everything. Except for the case and CPU, that could stay, although that ASUS board looks good too.
-
Or I driver that isn't installed correctly and/or the display settings not set at the native resolution of the LCD screen witch in your case should be set at 1280x800.
-
That makes me wonder as most nVidia 6200 card shave dual outputs, so one VGA and one DVI connector at the back, like this. The only thing you need when both screens only have VGA connectors is a DVI to VGA adaptor or cable. So, how does the back of that video card look like? Matrox doesn't call that SLI, that's nVidias own .

You have to see the USB connection of that UPS as just a mouse or a keyboard, if you push the button or move the mouse it triggers the sleep function (S1 or S3 for example) to get the computer out of sleep mode. What you should do is to disable that function in windows; set the "power button" as the only thing to get your computer out of sleep. Normally you can do this in the Power Configuration in any windows OS.What OS are we talking about any way?

Yes you will hear it with the headphones but not much on TV speakers. A 100USD card compared with your old SB Live! 5.1 is worth it, but leave PCI for what it is and get your self a PCI-E, I'm sure you will use it for the next 8 years and PCI will be gone by then I would say. (100USD over 8 years will give you a good soundcard for 12.5USD a year , 1.04USD a month) ASUS also doesn't produce that audio chip, it's uses on more soundcards as well, even in instruments (keyboards / synthesizer), samplers and more I would presume, but it's a great audio chip most people say. The 20k1 is a Creative product again that is licensed to be used on other brand products with their own drivers, those chips are great, even the one you have now is great for it's time (that's the 10k1 I think, not sure). I won't call teh ASUS card an outsider but you are a bit hooked to there support yes. No, your current card does the same by the way, so it's nothing special, just a standard. Yes you can get a cheap card, but even a onboard sound chip will slap a 40USD card in most cases, hell, even a Realtek 888/889 or so will slap that SB of yours, just to bad that motherboard makers don't put much attention to a good sound, it's mostly sounds a bit cold and a bit to snappy, but specs wise they are good...

How about configuring your Windows, so, no power on/out of power-save when you move your mouse or touch a key on your keyboard? Is this an USB or RS232 controlled UPS? Let's take this step by step .
